    For reference, Evernote is trying to address the negative press they've been getting - not sure it really helps, but you should decide for yourself: evernote.com/blog/tasks-calendar-home-free

    Great video sister!🔥 I've been using Evernote for years. I started using the free version and switched to the paid version. I love the interface and the features of it but the price hike I can't do anymore! The free version is not doable as you can see. Plus with prices up on everything😁 I'm looking to save some money and find a free note app. Thanks for sharing this. I may go with Simplenote or Zoho note since I have mostly text notes plus I'm trying to have a simple way to import from Evernote. So we'll see! But this is awesome!!! First time here BTW...

    Very helpful video, thanks! I am probably going with OneNote because of OCR (used it in grad school pre-MS acquisition and loved it), but have a question: the Microsoft Office suite installed on my PC belongs to my employer. Is it possible to use the OneNote app with my personal MS account, apart from my work account? I've been playing around with the web and Android versions but the features I need are all in the desktop app.

      Yes, you can set yourself with your own OneNote account, and I'd strongly recommend that you put it on your own computer and only access it from there. Using your work computer for personal stuff can have very negitive impacts.
      You can get your own copy of OneNote here: www.onenote.com/download (for free!)

    Great video. I haven’t used Evernote for almost a decade, although I probably have some files there. I’ve used OneNote but as someone who’s fully immersed in the Apple universe my go tos are Apple Notes and Reminders so I have this on all my devices. After using it for awhile the OneNote interface is too cluttered.

    Is there anything better than a label?

    I used Evernote for...one year...less than a year...
    So I switched back to OneNote (that I used in college) and doing my journaling there. If I'm journaling everyday, I don't think I should pay more for Evernote when I can just get a regular physical journal for less pricing. It sounds like a good way to go poor for a basic writing format. Now my journal looks fancy because I made templates to look super pretty and using the handwriting.

    Thanks for the video. I can't even log in to EN to backup my information. Evernote deployed a kill switch message with one choice: upgrade. I cannot login!. Sadly, I never synched and have no desire to ever synch. I use pre-Legacy Evernote for local notebooks only. This is such bad news for me.

    • @YourTechCoach
      @YourTechCoach  3 дня назад

      You can try using a voice to text tool to transcribe for you, then you'll just need to listen to the recording to edit those results (they're never 100%). For example, my fav is Camtasia but another option would be to record the sessions using something like recorder.google.com/ which will also give you that transcription.

    Thanks for your video alerting us to this major change. As one that has thousands of notes over many years, could you go over how you would download the ENEX format and the how you use that download? It seems that when I click the .ENEX file, it just starts Evernote and starts importing the file which is not what I want to do. Maybe if you do it we can all learn from your experience. Thanks for all you do!!

    • @LessThanHandy
      @LessThanHandy 6 месяцев назад

      Evernote is allowing only 100 notes when exporting to a .exex file. You need to find, download and install the legacy version of Evernote (Windows)
      That version allowes exporting entire notebooks. Worked for me about a week ago.

    • @YourTechCoach
      @YourTechCoach  6 месяцев назад +1

      The .ENEX file is a custonized XML file from Evernote. Some other note tools can read it, but not. That's why I recemmend going with the HTML option - it will be easier to import and you can view the views in any browser!
      The process of exporting your data from Evernote is explained here: help.evernote.com/hc/en-us/articles/209005557-Export-notes-and-notebooks-as-ENEX-or-HTML

    • @YourTechCoach
      @YourTechCoach  6 месяцев назад

      Good news, you don't need the legacy version - you might just need to export each notebook on its own. help.evernote.com/hc/en-us/articles/209005557-Export-notes-and-notebooks-as-ENEX-or-HTML

      Although I like free stuff just like anybody else, I think expecting companies to spend all the time, effort and research into creating and maintaining a software program for nothing is unrealistic. I think, even before Bending Spoons, Evernote was making a lot of poor choices in what they were or were not doing with the program. Bending Spoons has really tried to bring the program into the modern era and make it future compatible to bring even better features to the program. I do think the Spoons and their firing all the ‘old’ Evernote programmers and the recent pricing changes has led even loyal Evernote to questioning if it’s time to leave. That choice is made even harder because ‘old Evernote’ made the decision a long time ago to have their own proprietary extension, which makes moving your data somewhere else more difficult and time consuming. Bending Spoons didn’t buy Evernote to let it die. They didn’t have a competing program and to think they they bought it to let it die and lose money is also a little short sighted. That being said, a lot of people concerned with security are very distrusting of what Google is doing with your data. Let’s face it, it IS the big brother of online and data, and as convenient as that makes moving things around between programs, a lot of people don’t like that paradigm and don’t like the pervasive Google reach. Microsoft One Note has its own problems. Simplenote is ok, but there are many other choices that offer more options, but let’s be honest. Most of the programs out there actually cost something. People that spend the time creating these programs deserve to be compensated for their efforts if it’s of value to the customer.

      @@michaelcaldwell7107 I agree on supporting development, and for a number of years was a paid Evernote subscriber. I also currently pay for Todoist even though my usage could fit in the free plan. Evernote has just priced their least expensive plan above the needs of many people. Economics and it's supply/demand/price relationship is pretty simple in theory, but it can be complicated for a company to find the maximum profit--lower price paired with more subscribers vs higher price and fewer paying customers. When prices started going up, I dropped my paid plan, and stopped attaching lots of files into Evernote. I've been fine with that level, and would likely start paying $20-40/yr for the now defunct "free" plan. TBO, Evernote probably gave away too much for free for too long, and spoiled people.

    I'm wondering if Evernote has removed the "export" feature from their app due to there being a great "exodus" of user leaving? I say that because I have tried all kinds of ways to export looking at the instructions and other videos and I don't see the *export* function come up when I right-click or select notes🤔What is really going on? Evernote got us good! I jumped on Joplin which costs half as much, but i now regret it. It's not polished, feels like a beta and the experience is very clunky, but it does have Notebooks, which is important to stay organised. I could learn the 'new' way of tags or labels etc, but a notebook view is really important, for me its the fastest way to get to where i need. Joplin's markup modes are a total pain, can't get a proper seamless text editor without constantly changing views or modes, text defaults to double ciarruage return instead of a single, why.. why!! lol

    “You don’t treat your customer base like this…”
    Free users are NOT customers!
    Customers spend money and support a business.
    FREE USERS are in permanent “demo mode” and are subject to the whims of the company.
    It is free - stop complaining and buy it or move on.

    • @YourTechCoach
      @YourTechCoach  3 месяца назад +1

      All users are customers, evern if they are on different levels of service - free or paid levels. When a tool or service is made available to users, there is an exchange and that is not only money. It could be that the free users are giving a bump to the overall user count, or there's goodwill, or good word-of-mouth, or the activity data has values, etc. Whatever it is, at all levels there is an exchange.
      Demo mode is totally different from free user service level - for example, a demo peroid has a predfined end.
      And, for what it's worth, these issues with lack of consideration and poor communication have been happening with free AND paid users.
      Hope that helps clear things up for you!
