The OG Call of Duty games are SOOOO slept on! Call of Duty, United Offensive, and CoD 2 are all still very much playable and I absolutely love when people do first time playthroughs of those original campaigns. I actually did start at the very first CoD, though I first got it around the time that Modern Warefare first came out, so even though there were some wide gaps and I didn't always go in order, I am one of those people who started at the very beginning and am still playing now.

So many people jumped in at Cod 4 or MW2 that they overlooked the original titles. Had so many great memories on CoD, CoD UO and CoD 2. They're definitely overlooked these days. I wish they could return with the security exploits patched so more people could enjoy them.

Ya i was playing golden eye and metal of honor back in the day and cod wasn't even thought of as special yet. I remember MOH Frontline for ps2 and how cool it was. I used to have COD 2 also and looking back idk how they ever even made it to where they are today. Its truly impressive.

Sprinting wasn't a mission specific gimmick, actually. It was present in all of CoD: United Offensive as an addition to the game by Gray Matter Interactive, as well as Killstreaks in MP! Btw, I can tell you about how to play these old cods as I find lobbies whenever I hop on to play on PC from time to time.

I never got to play the OG games online at the time. I had no clue United Offensive had killstreaks. That's cool. Didn't also sorta introduce a rank up system as well? I think it was only match specific though if I recall

25:35 i agree with this "eras of COD" list. The original trilogy were game-changing when they came out but are not great now, the classics are still classics and the most beloved CODs all around, a lot of whichbare still being played and replayed by COD fans, and the modern era which imo is not great but of course for different reasons than the original trilogy.

I like the Spanish Civil War mod for call of duty two. It’s an entirely new campaign with voice acted cut scenes. I don’t speak any Spanish and there’s no English subtitles however, I have a decent understanding of what’s going on and I like the gameplay. I like how you’re forced to use bolt action rifles the entire game and there are no optics. Some of the textures and animations are really rough, but it was made by a single person in the early 2000s so you can’t really complain.

I played United offensive multiplayer a LOT in the early 2010s because my dad did when I was growing up. The servers were still flourishing. It was a ton of fun. Base Assault was a sweet game mode. Large, open (but well detailed for the time) maps with bunkers that you had to shoot down with heavy artillery, usually a tank, then go inside the bunker and plant a bomb and stop them from defusing. 3 bunkers per team. The vehicles were really sweet.

COD: UO had Battlefield-sized maps, vehicles, tanks; but my fondest memory was this one server that did FFA (was still called just Deathmatch at the time) with 30 players, and it was first to 100 kills. It even had a mod that let you pick both your first and second primary guns, so I went with the Sniper and portable MG. It was equally intense, but also strangely chill atthe same time.

Cod 2 and 4 were peak COD for campaign tbh, once they went down the Michael Bay blowup action and stereotypical evil Hollywood villain route it got to be a little too silly. Man; never have I felt more like an OG than now haha. We got our PC when Windows XP dropped in 2001 with a copy of Return to Castle Wolfenstein. Absolutely adored that game. 2002 rolled around and my Dad bought MoH:Allied Assault. Felt more immersive and intense then Wolfenstein and was such a fun game to play through. 2003 PC Gamer magazine had a Call of Duty demo on it. Blew my 12yr old mind! The fact that you had other soldiers fighting with you and you could aim down your sights!? Absolutely the next level of immersion and realism.
I still play CoD to this day, but Bo6 might be the last one for me

20:20 - CoD 3 is actually 60fps on Xbox 360. It's believed CoD 3 had 6 months or so of development/porting time to the PS3 and so it didn't really get any time to be optimised. Without optimising for the CELL to make up for the RSX, the PS3 will underperform.

I still to this day play cod1’s expansion pack, United Offensive, on a pretty consistent basis. It’s just nice to play a game that’s super vanilla and feels balanced.

It was great, but I feel on the whole none of the modern CoDs have lived up to MW19. I'll probably be taking another "break" from CoD soon.

For a video about the story of the original CoD games, and while I do like the video, you didn't actually talk about the story of Call of Duty 3. It's not just the story of the break out from Normandy, that's just the backdrop. Instead, there are four distinct stories they told through the different nationalities you play as.
The American campaign focuses on Guzzo and his "maturing", going from the guy who just wanted to survive the war and shirk his duties to eventually commanding the squad he joins up with in the first mission.
The Canadian story focuses on the harsh leadership of Lieutenant Robichauld and the naivety of Private Baron, and how the lessons that the Lieutenant tried to instill in Baron ultimately led him to his untimely death by confusing bravery and duty with stupidity.
The British campaign focuses on the differences between the British and the French, and how Corporal Keith comes to not only understand but respect the French Maquis for their continued resistance against German occupation.
The Polish campaign focuses on the comradery of Poles brought together by their exile from their homeland and their continued fight against Germany to liberate Poland. It focuses on this friendship and how it's torn apart by the unforgiving and random nature of death in war.
The video, if it was about the stories of these games, should have focused on this and how well it was achieved. For example, the Polish campaign is absolutely the weakest with only two missions and not enough time spent developing the characters before they're killed, while the American campaign spends plenty of time building up characters and relationships that shape Guzzo's understanding of his place in this war.
And this stuff isn't hidden away. It's all right there as you play through the campaign. I got so fed up with people not giving CoD3 a fair chance that I even made my one and only RUclips video about it. It's certainly not the best quality but it's there and shows you exactly what the team were doing when they made the game.

Pretty badly researched video. There's the really blatant gaffes like 3 being Treyarch's first CoD game, which is just completely untrue in more ways than one, but also the general background for CoD's creation, IW&2015, Grey Matter&Treyarch is surface level and not insightful. The basic premise of "CoD trilogy" only exists in branding and is completely wrong.
2015 was essentially proto-IW, and the 25 people that left were about 80% of the staff at 2015. Basically all the programmers, level designers, graphics artists and animators who made AA sans a couple of people left for IW. AA is very much CoD 0, has the same art and design as CoD1&2 in many places and uses the same engine. They didn't make a "new" engine for 2, they forked ID Tech 3 and this became the IW engine. IW was since it's inception the premier studio that existed to make CoD. Games not made by them were spinoffs by support studios so that Activision could keep churning out CoD branded games.
United Offensive was not made by IW, it was made by Grey Matter. This company was later folded into Treyarch, an existing Activision support studio and the same people who worked at Grey Matter started developing console spinoffs under the Treyarch name. CoD2: Big Red One was technically the first CoD Treyarch made, though in essence it was the second one as much of the staff was from Grey Matter, and it shows. BRO carries a lot of the CoD1(healthpacks) and especially UO hallmarks, like deployable machineguns and vehicles in MP. CoD3 in essence was a sequel to BRO, not IW's CoD2. 3 used a vastly upgraded version of the Big Red One engine instead of IW's, and the gameplay is identical. Yet again the UO&BRO design choices like vehicles in MP return, the tank mission in 3 is the same as it was in BRO. All the QTE gimmicks are because of the Wii, they were stuff to use the motion controls which were changed to QTEs in every other version of the game. Despite the numbered title, it was made by B team in the console spinoff line, hence no PC port. The number was just for branding purposes. The "third" CoD game was CoD4, it's called iw3 internally, Cod1&2 were iw&iw2 respectively. Treyarch didn't stop being a secondary studio until developing Blops & the post-MW2 collapse of IW.
IW & Treyarch have an oddly similar trajectory. And instead of 1 WW2 trilogy, you infact have 2 "trilogies". The IW mainline AA > CoD1 > CoD2 and the Treyarch spinoff line UO > CoD2: BRO > CoD3. CoD3's British protagonist and Ingram are literally the characters from the UO Brit campaign, it's a direct sequel. Then there's Finest Hour, a game so terrible nobody cares about it.

Call Of Duty 1 boasted a nice twenty-five missions in its campaign. Even Call Of Duty 2 had a plentiful amount of missions, and when you add United Offensive?
Modern Call Of Duty Games could only dream of having as many missions.

Call of duty 2003 is also around 3-4 hours long, if its taking you 7 hours then you shouldn't be playing video games 😅

What others consider the rise of Call of Duty after 4 i consider the fall of Call of Duty, never cared about Call of Duty after WaW, love and replay all of them before it though.
