I have no idea who this lady was but I liked this song and her operatic beautiful voice. Gives me some strange vibes that I wanna go back in time to a better life. 🙏❤️

You need to understand the story to feel the emotion from Madame Butterfly 🦋..(Maria Callas). Madame Butterfly married an American sailor in 1907.. She loves him, but it's just a marriage of convenience for him. Waiting until he find an American wife..His name is Pinkerton..soon after he leaves to go back to sea saying he will return..3 yrs later Madame Butterfly is still waiting for him..her maid tries to convince her he's not coming back.. Then she gets a message saying he is coming back.. She has had his son, so she sends a letter telling him.. BUT he has not come back for Butterfly.. he has a new American wife.. His wife agrees to raise the child.. Butterfly agrees only if Pinkerton comes to see her..whilst waiting for him..she sings tbis song of lost love and kisses her son and blindfolds him..then goes behind a screen and commits Seppuku (suicide).. Pinkerton arrives and tries to save her, but she dies..
No, she sang "Tu Tu piccolo" while waiting for Pinkerton with her son and then she stabs her self. Un bel di vedremo was sung on the second act. before they saw the ship that pinkerton is riding.
Thank you for bringing Maria back. Feel free to react to her performing La Mamma Morta, and turn on the subtitles. Or if you prefer live singing, treat yourself with her legendary performance of Vissi D'arte. ❤
Nrce to see you venturing out of your comfort zone, Angela. Callas is never less than magnificent and her version of the love aria from Bizet's Carmen is still the GOAT. She was married to Greek shipping tycoon Aristotle Onassis before Jacqueline Kennedy, the other thing she was famous for. The real Madame Butterfly met a tragic fate, drowning herself in a Tokyo river after her American captain returned home. My personal favourite coloratura is the equally tragically fated and stunningly beautiful Germany-born Slovak singer Patricia Janeckova, who died just last year at 25 of breast cancer. She had been a star in Eastern Europe since 13 and at the very height of her powers. Her many fans are still in mourning Anything by her is highly recommended and very accessible to the casual listener. For a classically trained voice in a folk idiom it's high time you became aware of the remarkable multi-instrumentalist and ethnomusicologist Rhiannon Geddins, a southern-raised half-black married to an Irish man.. Both the above artists have a fine extensive catalogue available here on the Tube. Happy listening sweetie.
Maria Callas, the Diva!!!!!! The best soprano, in my humble opinion.
Maria is the Queen Darling ❤
Gosh this is so beautiful, thrilling and emotional! Brava Maria Callas!
70 Years ago and it hold the test on time. Beautiful Sound !!
Puccini was a great composer. I love this song
I love that you listen to a variety of music styles. It shows that you're a true music lover
Wonderfully gifted voice. The musical arrangements behind were always impeccible
The aria is about hope and a deep sense of longing.
Callas and Puccini, a match made in heaven.
Very intense and emotional song! I believe this song has been performed by many artists, but this lady does a magnificent job! Bravo! Ciao!

Magnifico.
Great and moving performance. Don't listen to this kind of music much but can still appreciate it.
Madame Butterfly was the inspiration and basic story that was contemporized in the musical Miss Saigon set during the Vietnamese War.

That Voice! That Voice! Has somebody used that line before? Lol.
If you want to explore further, check out anyone's version of "Nessun Dorma" (Pavarotti has a great version.)

You should really work as a music critic for Rolling Stone magazine! You're very analitical and detailed with your descriptions! Bye!
I do not know she was singing, but it still sends shivers just through the purity of her voice.

One of the best from Madama Butterfly.
