A friend of mine owned one of these for a couple years and it was fantastic! Nothing I've driven since has given me the same thrill this did. Expensive up keep sure but it was reliable and well looked after. Will be buying one as soon as my wallet permits it and attempt a DCT swap
I have had 3 E60 BMW's and IMO they are the best look 4 door are ever made ! (has to be M-sport though). I always wanted an M5 but never happened. But I finally got an M6 and appreciate your videos. Thanks :)
Hi M Tech Guy - all your videos gave me the courage to buy a E60 M5. Found a 28k one. You should set up a means for folks to send you a donation for your efforts on these videos. Def owe you.
Hey man that’s great to hear! Awesome you found one with such low miles, not that many with low mileage about now. Feel free to hit the “Thanks ❤️$” button if you’ve found any videos of value. Enjoy the new M5! 👍
I am not a BMW fan but this car has hooked me. I could have bought a 2005 for a really good price a couple of years ago. So much noise about vanos(?) and expenses, reliability etc esp. gearbox. A 2010 never seems to be available here in South Africa. My sense is that it is ok. But, I also know how foolish I can be. Love this machine man! What a great car.
It's because no one who knows about these cars wants to buy them, so owners scrap them for parts instead of waiting for a clueless buyer. Obviously there's going to be exceptions who LOVE this car so much that they'll put up with any amount of maintenance, but most people don't have that kinda money
@@giorgig4828 thats not the reason why there as so few of them in turkey. The primary reason is the extremely high ‘’luxury tax’’ on these cars (that sometimes quadruples the original price) so even the rich people op out for the 520d. And the other reason is people cant maintain it. Not because of the unreliability, but insurance and yearly MTV (motorised vehicle taxes) on these car are ridiculously high. And since there is so few of them in here, you cant go around and find scrap parts because these cars never see sunlight and always kept in someones garage.
Great video and info - but man, that engine bay is like crystals in a jewelry store on a display. Very impressive - I’m hunting for one. When you start to look for one it is actually hard to get what you really want.
Really really great videos, I’m really love these cars. But it’s trying to find a good one. The jag XFR is in the running too. But my heart wants that v10!
Thanks man, appreciate it. I love a good Jag, but the N/A V10 is on another level, a dying breed! Keep an eye out for a properly looked after one, and steer clear of any misused examples. Good luck with the search
Nice! Going off my own experience, and comments I’ve had from my viewers/subscribers who own these cars, the reputation these cars have differs quite a lot from reality.
Chris D just buy one, don’t believe all the negative RUclips and forum issues, yes there are some that have problems, unloved cars lacking servicing and bodied by owners and garages who didn’t know what they were doing or just bodied them. Most are well cared for and functional well. Mine was great and still is with its current owner. The internet just shows horror stories and the vast majority of owners don’t post anything and good news like ‘nothing to report’ doesn’t make good reading.... not anymore, these babies are finnaly starting to be appreciated and prices have gone up, its gonna be about time where the price rises to a point where its noticable and then talked about and then that will start a snowball effect and shoot prices way up, get your m5 before they keep going up

That’s awesome man, sounds like you’ll have fun making one well sorted M5 out of two! Im sure the spare parts will be of value to other enthusiasts when you come to sell them. LA is a great place, thanks for following the channel I appreciate it
Hi. What’s did you mean when you said listen to the gas tank and listen for a whoosh…you’d need a charcoal canister? I don’t quite understand. Can you explain further pls.
Not sure of the year but the I drive system was changed, you can tell because its single DIN, no more DVD nav and the headunit cooling fan was discontinued, larger screen.
If you have a budget at 32k and you buy a 24k m5, you will be fine. If you have the same budget and buy a m5 for 30k you are in danger. An used E60 m5 must be maintained like a maniac by the previous owners and as long as you are unsure about that, make sure you have the budget to do the maintainance.
Common problem with these cars, especially in a sunny climate. If that’s all that’s wrong with it, replacing all the window rubbers isn’t a big deal. It would be worth checking out all the rubber suspension parts too as it’s likely they’ll need replacing also
Awesome, yes if you can continue to learn how to maintain and repair it yourself you’ll save a fortune! Check out the rest of my channel, I have heaps of M5/S85 diy videos 👍

Great video, the idel actuator are a problem on these cars to, I’ve just replaced the throttle actuators and now getting a code for the idel actuator.
Thanks man. Yes! the idle actuators can fail too. Also the harness/connectors for the Idle actuators can become brittle over time and cause issues
Damn your engine is immaculate!!!!
You can eat your dinner off it
As with other BMs, these can have airbag sensor issues on the passenger side.
Yes! Airbag occupancy sensor mat in the passenger seat, common fault across the range. Look for airbag like remaining on the dash. Cheers
