@@laizeybonestv TWICE, also, can not imagine being other than , “9, only 9!” “I want to be a member of TWICE when I die.” TRUTH, “Baby, I would die for you.” Our distant observation is that any person who WAS a member of TWICE during the LIKE OOH AAH/Tzuyu - Huang Ahn - Jackson Wang - Taiwan flag incident (2015-2016) can not leave TWICE; any person who WAS NOT a member of TWICE during the incident can not become a member of TWICE. Therefore, “9, only 9,” at least until 2090 assuming no global extinction event.

Very well covered. I think everything you said is on point, at least from what I've seen and read throughout the years. Like you, I've followed all these groups and their various contracts, and each time the fandom sort of loses it, lol. We really don't know much about how these things work, and of course each group had different needs and each company operates different. So all we really have to go by is if the members appear happy and if they are still drawing a lot of money. If so, it's a safe bet they're resigning.
The one I'm following most closely now is (G)I-DLE, as they are my favorite group and their number is up. Unlike other Neverlands, though, I don't take (G)I-DLE joking around about CUBE being crap as serious as many do. "Soyeon should start her own company" is a meme I wish would die as while I think Soyeon is capable of that, it would be at the expense of (G)I-DLE. There's a reason why PSY or J.Y. Park basically never does anything personal anymore, as now they have a business to manage. Even if Soyeon's company is just supporting (G)I-DLE and no one else, that's not a great long term plan, especially when it comes to money management. With all the behind-the-scene stuff Soyeon will have to either do herself or hire out, it means less time she has for (G)I-DLE. So no, I don't want her to start her own company RIGHT NOW. Later one when she's done being a full-time idol, then yes, not not now.
Back to (G)I-DLE trashing CUBE, let me remind everyone that other groups joke around about their CEOs and Companies all the time, but that's all it is: a joke. In (G)I-DLE's case, CUBE really IS crap, but they also let Soyeon do what she wants. That's not really something she can guarantee if they leave. Plus, given they now are considered a top 5 group, not many companies can afford (G)I-DLE while at the same time bare the responsibility of having someone "unpredictable" calling the shots. The girls basically have to be signed by HYBE or something if they want something bigger than what CUBE can give them is what I'm saying. If they were to continue, my bet is it'll be with CUBE. IF not, it's because they themselves are finished being a group or some miracle happens and JYPE suddenly decides they can't live without acquiring (G)I-DLE. Personally I don't think the girls want to quit being a group, as I've heard most of them say time-and-time again that they want to be together "as long as we can" she they just might stick with the enemy they know rather than chancing something new with another company.
In terms of Dreamcatcher, I also think it's a case of "do they want to continue" rather them being done with the company. I mean, the company basically structured everything around Dreamcatcher and do everything in their power to give the girls what they need. I don't know if any other company can offer them more, but their company has been pretty loyal to them so I'd be surprised if they left.
With ITZY and aespa, I think their companies have more or less treated them fairly given their status' within the company. I do think aespa might have gotten the shaft a bit more times than ITZY, but at the same time it wasn't like they've been denied a lot either. Also, aespa might have a more secure feeling as they don't have another girl group within the company that are their juniors who are just as famous as they are (like ITZY has with NMIXX). But at the same time I don't think JYP is the type to toss ITZY out for not being high in popularity than NewJeans or something. As long as they have a big enough fanbase that regular funnels money into the company ITZY are fine. For ITZY, I don't really see them wanting to leave, but you never know. aespa is one I think could be swayed if offered something better... but c'mon, their at SM. Who's going to offer them anything better than what they got now?
Top groups are ones that we shouldn't really worry about, it's the mid-tier to underrated ones we need to look out for. They don't have the leverage with sells and basically have to accept what the company offers of else try their luck somewhere else. It'll be a stressful day when groups like STAYC or Purple Kiss have to re-negotiate. They are fairly popular, make decent money, but it's not like they are changing the world. So they don't have a lot of ground to stand on. You'd think RBW needs Purple Kiss being that they are the only gg they have given that MAMAMOO are sorta-kinda part time, BUT then you find out that RBW also owns a chunk of Young Posse since they are a parent company. So again, that hurts PurKi's leverage. I believe Weki Meki is an example of this: being a medium group who only reached a certain level, so weren't seen profitable enough to continue. What I'm saying is, don't be afraid of Red Velvet ending, be afraid for Fromis_9 or Everglow.
Whew. That was a rant. Am I back to form?

The best offer CUBE could and really should offer Soyeon and (G)Idle is their own sub-imprint. Soyeon’s rap was not innocent or a joke. It was a clear and incontestable power move. Reminding CUBE that they need her and (G)Idle was more than the girls need them. And if they leave, they don’t necessarily need a bigger company. They just need investors. Which I don’t think Soyeon would have much trouble with. CUBE’s best move involves offering their cash cows some form of equity stake. Without doing that it won’t simply be (G)Idle disbanding. It could easily be CUBE. And no way would the (G)Idle girls go anywhere near current day HYBE. HYBE is a graveyard of mistreated girl groups and female artists. They mostly survive on the BTS bucks while trying to undercut their actually popular girl groups at every turn. HYBE is a frat house.

I'm on the same page as you and @andrewtaylor940.. I don't want Soyeon to be burdened of the cost of starting her own company... to much risks in there. Cube should just give them more leverage and continue investing on them.. there are tons of companies out there who will be willing to do it.

    I didn't fear disbanding
The only thing that i fear is that all of the moments i cherished with them will no longer continue and becomes a distant memory.
    Sorry for the wrong grammar✌️

    Moomoo specification moment:
Saying the girls didn't renew with RBW isn't wholly correct. Moonbyul, Solar and Hwasa all initially renewed for three years. Wheein chose not to renew as a soloist and moved to the L1ve (which she has since left). Hwasa chose not to renew after her 3 years were up and moved to PNation, but AFAIK Moonbyul and Solar are still at RBW.
AFAIK, the group is technically still together (I feel reasonably sure that Hwasa's PNation contract allows that) and under RBW but between 2/3 agencies, coordination is... not the easiest thing.
IK you probably just said it that way for ease bc it is a very convoluted explanation but just for others' info, I thought I'd give the full context.
    Tl;dr: Mamamoo / Mamamoo+ / Moonbyul / Solar - RBW
Wheein - > The L1ve > ??? (I don't know if there's anything about her contract rn because she's been touring and doing other things)
    Hwasa - RBW > PNation

02:06 Wasn't this split overturned by a court recently? I remember that being an issue in LOONA vs Blockberry.

    • @scttschlz
      @scttschlz 2 месяца назад +4

Yes: particularly having a difference between the splits of income and expenses was found to be illegal under South Korean law, IIRC, which, you know, it should be since it can result in the personal debt increasing for a member even when the group is highly profitable (and, in fact, could result in more profit for the company resulting in more debt for the members to the company without limit).
