I still cling to the belief that Tywin was aware of the Tyrell's plot to kill Joffrey, and let it happen for his own advantage. Not only is Tommen much more pliable and easily controlled, but also it gives him the chance to get rid of Tyrion.
GRRM believes in grey characters. No one is fully good or evil. Just like in real life, everyone is capable of great and terrible things. GRRM also believes in breaking tropes... So the trope of the redemption arc is absolutely broken with Jamie.

Soup spilling (Arya/Hound) is almost as bad as Frodo spilling those precious drops from Sam's water skein in LOTR.. Arya continues playing the game of.. Yeah, that's the most alarming thing to me, that the show just moves on with Jamie's story as though he and Cersei had had consensual sex like it was in the book. (In the book, he had only just got back to King's Landing and this was the first time they'd seen each other. She put up feeble protests about how they might get caught but then pretty quickly stopped caring about that and was 100% on board). It doesn't seem like they were trying to make a statement about his character or anything, that they thought that was normal sex (or that this was equivalent to her being initially wary of being caught), and that none of us would have a problem with it. That should change how a person sees Jamie, but since that doesn't seem to be the intent of the creators given how the character is treated going forward (as a "good guy") and that outside of this scene both Book and Show Jamie would not do this, I just act as though it was the way it was in the book and block the rape-y-ness of it. It's supposed to be a scene of two toxic people who are twins being gross and having sex next to their dead son's corpse but they completely altered the focus of the scene and made it about him forcing himself on her.
I dont think she was protesting the act itself, i think she was protesting the place. She was manipulating him to kill their brother. And she was using seduction. She knew he was starved, she had been rejecting him since he got back. The show handled it perfectly, in my opinion. And no, Jaime is not a good guy. So, ppl who expected him to now be this "redeemed" character were the disappointed ones.
about the rape scene: the idea I have is that on the relationship they had it wasn't out of the line. Cersei is a very strong woman and I don't see her being a victim to anybody. Maybe she didn't want to do it on that place right now but is not a deal breaker on their relation.
GRRM didn't write that rape scene. In the book, Joffrey's funeral scene is the first time Cersei finds out that Jaime is still alive and despite the terrible setting she wants to have sex with him. You can say that the writers of the TV show changed it because they wanted to change their characters and relationships by having Jaime force himself on her, EXCEPT that the rape is never mentioned or addressed again in the TV show. It's as if it never happened. It becomes an absolutely pointless scene.
Well the so call abuse scene, its not supposed to be. Jaime and Cersei only know to comfort each other in a sexual way., but for some reason in the show it looks like Jaime was abusing Cersei, which had so much backlash, specially because in the book it was consent, and had a proper explanation while Jaime engage Cersei in such act next to Joffrey body! This episode shows a few power moves made by certain players. Tyrells are still in the game. And obvious they are making their moves to make sure Margaery can be the next queen. Tywin ensure he will educate Tommen in political affairs and same time making sure he still have power over a king. Daenerys throwing the slave collars after the speech to have the slaves on her side...
