That was a classy move on Paul's part when he insisted that Sean and Landon take it for a test drive too. Saying "Go for it, go take it for a rip. You guys have got a lot of work into it" also gave them some well deserved recognition of their efforts.
You do build some nice vehicles. Maybe some day a super car? Would be great to see what you could do with an old Manta. Big LS and Matt can source you a Corvair transaxle.
That's one cool head turner. Old but new, it doesn't get any better than that. Like someone else commented an old school visor would look good and keep the sun out of your eyes.
Grandma Lolly is right about not needing the clutch, EXCEPT, starting and stopping. Sort of helps alleviate wear and tear on the motor, motor mounts, and transmission when you have a clutch to at least start and stop.
This is the coolest rollback , can’t wait to see its first recovery and see the persons face who is getting recovered when they see this roll up . Only from the mind of Paul. Thanks for sharing your vision.
I came to this channel ages a go because of Matt's channel but I now think it's better. The way Paul, Sean and Hunter bounce offeach other is just deadly. They all love what they are doing and it really shows. Top Class!
Use to shift my 49 Plymouth without the clutch...saves wear ad tear.😅 Since I am older than Ollie, I can't call her grandma. She's got it going on. Thumbs up to Sean and Landon. They enjoyed the challenge.
Does anyone else miss Ben other than myself , his home movies are not quite the same as old Ben , I pray for him , but I love watching hunters Dad , he super cool
I Jeff Judah really like how y'all do old an new stuff,an the cool stuff all around an y'all are to cool for words for doing cool work an fun,an y'all all be safe an have a blessed time an a blast at it an thank you for good stuff

Great video guys . Please Paul wear some eye protection when you use that grinder. Trust me watching the world go by with one eye sucks . Protect them like gold . Love watching the fab work unbelievable what you guys do . 👍👍😃
“You know, if you’re really good you can shift without a clutch.” I love Grandma Lolly. I used to have an older Rabbit with a diesel and a 4 speed. Only ever used the clutch to start in first or reverse. If it didn’t leak a quart of oil a month, I might still have it.
Wow. Reading some these comments is rough. Just wanted to say that I love your content and I hope you guys know that some people are just miserable and want others to be miserable because they are. You guys always put me in a better mood and drive me to work harder on the things I enjoy. You’ve also reminded how awesome family is. Thanks for being real.❤🙏🤙
That winch install couldn't have gone any better. The wrenching Gods were smiling upon you that day. That's a very nice rig, turbo diesel with all the accessories. You and Merlin should have a competition of some kind with the diesels!
Had to watch this video again. You guys have the best crew. Love how Paul understands he could do it his self but a lot easier and fun. And letting everyone take her for a drive. You are showing your son's something they will use there whole lives. One video you and Michelle did together hope I spelled her name write. People we're bashing her and Shawn and your son. Please don't let it get to any of you I know it's hard not to but just jealous people. I miss seeing Michelle stop I used to see her quite a bit. Come on back there are good people who love you all keep on going.
Hunter is eternally positive. What a great part of the team. Love how he interacts with Paul and Sean. Acts like a brother with Sean and like a nephew with Paul, but great team member.
If you go to the big truck store, you can get a valve to mount on the air tank that has a thin cable that you can put in a place were you can drain water from air tank without crawling under the truck.👍🇺🇸🤪
So glad to see you got the truck running, now to finish it off so it can be another awesome part of the FabRats recovery fleet. I do think it needs a external cab visor to finish the look off the front and to help you can see 😉
Man that was nice watching something that really wasn’t much of a truck, being pieced together welded together and then watching it move under its own power like that. That was sweet and the truck looks awesome love how you weren’t afraid to tweak it along the way. Can’t wait to see it with the bed on it.
Sweet it finally ran. I thought it was just another day of " we're gonna drive it today ". But you really did it. Shocked my socks off... Congratulations on one in a row.
The look on everybody's face when they went for a ride was great, but the best was the look on Paul's face when he came back and told everybody that the rig was good. It looked like he was gonna bust. Like a proud new Daddy. Congratulations to everybody. Job well done (well, sorta done)
@15:03 Yep, float shifting. Learned it in the army in the 70's. Much more fun in driving stick in those days. Only synchromesh on first gear (if you're lucky), the initial go is the one to time to use the clutch.👴😉😁
Understand the first run with the built beast. As a young man built a drag car and suffered plenty building it and it took time but in the end did well. Thanks Fab Rats this video was for good for my soul:) See you this spring/summer.
Hello, I'm Charles Nike Watching from Florida Jacksonville USA. I'm sorry if I may appear intrusive I just want to let you know I didn't know this kind of beauty 😍 still exist, What's your name and where are you watching from?
Love this channel! Always look forward to new videos. Shows what happens when you’re willing to put in the work. Great example for the younger generation. As for people complaining in the comment section, nobody is forcing you to buy anything. If you do that’s great, but you don’t have to do anything but enjoy the content.
FYI you can relocate the controller box on the winch with the stuff they send in the box so you don’t have to cut the top of your bumper to make it fit 😂
Now you have a fleet of roll-backs,👍, very cool project guys, (even for a Chevy)😉, it seems to have just the perfect amount of smoke,😍, awesome video guys, and thanks for sharing.
That thing is awesome guys! It's in your on the top of your list of amazing builds can't wait to c it finished. I enjoy it since I can't really work on thing anymore after having cancer. Good holsome family time. Love it
Man what I would give for a friend like Paul , at this point my dads 72 firebird will sit here and rot, has a brand new engine but no time , and now a daughter with special needs , I don’t see it happening. I’ll watch these guys here because it’s genuine. It’s never the rich getting richer.
On our way back to Arizona in mid July, after visiting my sister and her family in Utah, we stopped at Fab Rats and saw the off road roll back being worked on in its early stages. Met Grandma Lolly, Paul, Sean and Hunter, took some photos and headed back to our Rim Country home. We've watched over the intervening months as work on the diesel powered roll back progressed, and we found this 'first drive' episode particularly satisfying - lots to cheer about and two big 'thumbs up' to Paul and the crew!!
That was a classy move on Paul's part when he insisted that Sean and Landon take it for a test drive too. Saying "Go for it, go take it for a rip. You guys have got a lot of work into it" also gave them some well deserved recognition of their efforts.
Sean and Landon smiling while driving was the best.
Grandma lolly is awesome, taking hunter to school on float shifting a manual 😂 she's the grandma that everyone needs in their life

How will you engage-disengage the winch free spool lever once the grille is mounted?

This thing would look so much better with some Holley Retro-Bright headlights. They are LEDs that look like sealed beams.

I think one of my favorite things I've grown to love is when Shawn gets that big smile and says "sweet".
