I have never done an updo I was ultimately happy with. I used your tutorial an hour before I had to be at a formal military dinner and I absolutely loved it. I hot a lot of compliments! I did have to wrap my hair a few more times because it's a bit longer than yours, but this particular style seems very flexible for different hair lengths!
This one IS easy!!! I did a very quick try just to see if I can do it and I can! It doesn't look too bad so if I practice this one a few times I'm sure it will look amazing!

@@LylyAm123100% adding texture spray and doing some back combing techniques on the crown area in the underneath layers- so just not the top layer of hair, making sure that stays nice and smooth, but still spray texture spray on the top area for some grip!

Hi Alex! Love this tutorial. Can you please explain the hair tie+2 bobby pins combination that you use to create your ponytail? Is it necessary for this up do?
Hi! Thank you so much. The DIY bungee is not necessary for this updo; a regular elastic will work perfectly. The main reason I use the two bobby pins on the elastic is it doesn’t tighten all the texture and curls at the crown, whereas when you use an elastic, you can sometimes loose all that texture. I hope this helps.

Hi Alex!! I would love to try out this design for an upcoming sorority formal!! The only thing I am worried about is if this would work for fine hair? I know I saw in your description box it would work with proper hair prep, what do you mean by this? Is there a hairspray you recommend I should purchase that holds curls but also adds volume to fine hair? I love all of your videos btw! :)
Hi Breanna! How exciting, this hairstyle would be perfect for your formal! For fine hair, you definitely want to add a bit of texture to help with grip, as well as hairspray for hold. If you hairspray before curling it will help your curls stay more defined, which will help with volume. For grip, I love the Bumble & Bumble texture spray or the Moroccanoil Dry Texture Spray (a little goes a long way). For hairspray, L'Oreal Elnett or the Moroccanoil Luminous Hairspray medium, they're both very lightweight yet gives a lot of hold. Didn't work well for me. My hair is very thick and the bun was too heavy to stay up. I added 10000 Bobby pins and hair spray. Any advice to make it work on thicker hair??
