- It's Black Friday and the boys' and I went to Petsmart to check out the deals...and there were a lot of them. We came home with the Marinerland Emperor 400 and 3 Betta tanks by Topfin.

Thanks Scott! The filter was missing the impeller, so I had to go back and exchange it. In the mean time...I was able to fix the Penguin 350. 3rd time rinsing out the impeller area did the trick.

Haha. I still can't help but wish I had a 125 Gallon in the Fish Room being filled with water right now. LOL! We definitely did well with the low priced stuff. These little TopFin Tanks are cool.

Hey Tony.. Happy Thanks Giving.. nice haul btw. I love those cubes.. Mine are .9 gallon by Marina (cubus) and I love them. You're boys chose well. I love gold lol I picked up a couple filters yesterday too from Petsmart. I got the Aqueon ones.. I really like them. I have a bunch of the Marienland Emperor 400's on my big tanks.. great prices! My hubby finally bought a fish!!! lol He got a Rope fish for my angel tank.. lol I'm so excited.. he even named him "Rufus" Have a great weekend!!!
Hey DebTim, I wasn't quite sure when I was filming, but I went back and saw your lights were different. The .9 Gallon would be a nicer size, but these are cute little tanks...and for $12, I couldn't pass it up. I looked at the Aqueon filters, but the larger sizes were sold out...and I'm getting too many different types of filters which is a pain for keeping supply stocked up. lol. Also, I went to my LFS and he told me to try cleaning the Penguin 350 again, because it should work based on what I told him. Sure enough...third time rinsing out the impeller opening with the hose worked and it is running again. The emperor was too good a deal to return, so I'm saving it for another break down or a larger tank. Where I have the filter placed on the side of the 40 Breeder...it went edge to edge. I do like the large volume and may put it on the 40 Breeder saltwater tank anyway. Awesome about your hubby's Rope Fish. They are super cool. We picked up a Bumblebee, Venustus, and Red Zebra Cichlid.
Hey Tony.. You had quite a day with the mini fish keepers. I agree the Marineland is an awesome filter I have 2 on each of my big tanks.. the 400s plus my canister. The cubes are perfect but you need to change the water every 3rd day. Which is no problem they are very simple to clean. I have extra impellars just incase. I don't use their media anymore I make my own.
Ive seen the filter on the side like that.. it's really excellent for agitation reaching more of the tank. I do that for my pond fish.. drop the water level too just for extra oxygen.
Rufus Rope is so cool. I can't believe hubby picked him. Very cool addition.

Good deal making your own filters. I use the cartridge but also load my own media in bags in the filter. My oldest son is taking sides with my wife and saying we have enough. Lol. The younger son is on my side. We can find more room for another tank. We actually don't buy many fish right now...so it was a funny comment. Though my Cichlid tank is getting aggressive, so I wanted to add a few more and try to chill them out. I'll hop over to your channel after I finish cleaning my tanks. :)
No rush.. I'm not going anywhere! I am glad that one is on mom's side =D Even though I am more to yours.. Hubby is coming around slowly. =D

Thanks Joe! I've been using it, but I'm changing it more frequently to get it under control after some advice from my LFS. It seems to be working. Looking much better, but still needs manual labor to remove it.

I know this video is a couple of months old but I have the same filter (broken one) I know what is wrong. The filter has a design issue in that the propeller used to suck the water in is only connected by tiny rubber pieces. I don't know if you still have it but unplug it, remove the tube all the way, so it's completely disconnected from the main filter, then reach in to where it fits and pull. You now can remove anything stuck in the propeller (for example I run polyfiber and sometimes tiny threads escape and get stuck, you can remove it with tweezers) you then just shove it back into its place on the tube and put everything back where it came this should fix the problem
