Neo colour II rescue tips…….small bits, keep and shove in empty half pans, use as water colour, they work fairly similar. Bigger chunks….if you can find an adjustable pencil extender then you can use pretty small pieces of them until they are small enough to fit in an empty half pan, then nothing goes to waste. The advantage of having smushed up bits (including shavings) collected in a half pan is that you can use them to add in details to looser sketches if you need to. Forgive me if you’ve already discovered these things. Adding in case someone viewing has not.
So nice to have found your videos. I'm also new to watercolours and it's encouraging to see the progress you're making. It gives me hope that I will improve.🙂 I'm experimenting with Neo II's as well. One thing I've liked is to hold a crayon, or several, in my non-dominant hand and to lift pigment off the crayon tip with a wet brush the same way you'd lift it from a pan. It means you can get the detail you want. Thanks for the good tips and book recommendations.
That is so nice to hear Sheryl, thank you. That’s way I wanted to start sharing online. I was always so excited to find someone close to me in their experience and see what they are up to. Good luck with your journey! If you share on Instagram look me up so I can follow your progress too!
Very cute sketch! It does look like it captures the vibe of the day! It was -18 here in eastern Canada yesterday morning (but warmed up significantly later on), however, I still would not want to have taken gloves off and done any Plein air sessions… good for you for giving it a try in winter!

Thanks Faith! I am considering trying parking my car and sketching from there. Might be a good option for when the temperatures drop again :)
