    I would argue that, it is the best lens, BUT only apart from those kit lens ranging in 16-70mm. Nowadays we are more exposed to wide angle visualizations of the world through phone dominated media space, that we are able to compose similar frame in wider angles similar to accustomed 50mm. On this basis, a fixed lens is not ideal for beginners who preferably want to have a "perfect" frame and owning little to none knowledge of post production of images they took. After the basic composition, exposure, and actual practices in various conditions(where especially beginners lack the initiative to move from fixed locations) are approached, it is then appropriate to consider a 50mm fixed lens as the upgrade/secondary lens. The elements of blurring, depth of field, and nighttime lighting provided by such lens in comparison are less important, in the context of retaining interest/capture moments for beginners.
    However, this is build upon an idealized market, where kit lens has solid quality like nikkor's 16-50mm as easily accessible options. The flourishing of 50mm lens in the second hand market in my opinion is the single most important aspect, if to recommend to beginners. The purchase of lens itself is price stable, easy to choose, and with abundant supply to almost all camera mounts. Other than this factor, kit lens has a slight upper hand against fixed 50mm.

    I'm bit into photography for a while. After I go down to 28mm, 17-40mm, or go up, 85mm, 135mm, 70-200mm, I go back to 50mm as my first choice when I only could bring one lens. Now I have five of the 50mm-ish lens

      Yeh there’s something about a 50mm that just makes it a great choice for so many things. And because they’re so small and light, they’re great to just take the one lens out with you and still have enough versatility from the 50mm focal length to get some great shots. 😊

    great vid. just used a a6400 with a sigma 56mm f1.4 and took some amazing portraits in chicago. got a tamron 28-200 f2.8 for my fx3 and i fell like that was a mistake, i want something 1.4 or 1.8

    • @TheCreatorsBlock
      @TheCreatorsBlock  6 месяцев назад

      Yeh a 50mm (or near) works well on both crop and full frame. On a crop it handles similar to an 85mm which is a great portrait lens! And then on your fx3 will be a nice everyday lens.
      I’ve also been intrigued by a 70-200 but have always been put off by firstly the price for the 2.8 but also the usability, I probably wouldn’t use it enough so it’s a lot of money.
      Thanks, glad you enjoyed the video 😊

    Its to near to the objekt.. and its a big difference between fullframe and APSC.. better choose a 35mm on APSC

    • @TheCreatorsBlock
      @TheCreatorsBlock  6 месяцев назад +1

      By all means object! I do say that this is only my opinion. Crop sensor and full frame affect both the focal length and low light/bokeh performance. But my point being, the nifty fifty is usually the cheapest option in the lens range. 35mm lenses tend to be more specialised and therefore more expensive. So as a beginner I’m saying rather than get the kit lens option, the nifty fifty might be better as it’s a cheaper, sharper, faster and could speed up your learning process.
      Remember I did say I bought one with the 7D, a crop sensor camera and thought it was leaps and bounds above the variable zoom lenses regardless of how it may compare to when on a full frame. The idea is you can grow with it and move up to full frame and know what lenses you need next. A variable zoom you will pretty much leave on a shelf collecting dust. 😂

    Could you recommend a good starting lense for apcs sensors

    • @TheCreatorsBlock
      @TheCreatorsBlock  5 месяцев назад

      Sorry, yeh I wasn’t very clear about this in the video. I should have gone into a bit more detail regarding whether you’re shooting full frame or crop sensor and what the differences are and whether it would still be the right choice. But I did intend for it to be a good option for both to be honest, because as I say I started out with the 7D which is a crop sensor camera and the 50mm made such a difference to my photography. Yes it may crop in to something around 75mm but I do still feel it would be the best first choice lens for crop bodies as well. It’s cheap, fast, and you can grow with it. When/if you do upgrade to full frame you can grow with this lens. I’m not a fan of buying APSC specific lenses to be honest just because they limit you to the apsc system. Whereas full frame lenses can work on both.
      If there was such a thing as a nifty 35 😂 lens then I’d perhaps say go with that if you’re apsc. But they don’t and 35mm lenses can be more expensive which is why the 50mm still makes more sense for a beginner regardless of whether you’re apsc or full frame.
      I hope that helps!
