I’ve found going for about 70-75% crit and then maxing damage is better. Going straight crit you lose a lot of damage for little benefit. On or the other isn’t as good as balancing them.
@@fragmentedrose7401 I was referring to capabilities in vanilla terraria. If you implement mods, you can just get a mod that lets you do infinite damage anyway
its totally worth it, ive probably got double the hours invested into this game over any other game i have, its totally worth it since there is hours upon hours of content right at your finger tips
Damage is better than crit because crit multiplies your damage AFTER discounting the enemy's defense. So technicaly enemy get double the defense. I don't know if they patched it in the newer versions though
They've done tests all the way back in 1.3 and crit is much more consistent. Full menacing had a massive damage high point and low point. And crit had a much tighter window. Pretty obvious i suppose but its definitely better. Also diminishing returns, its better to get a bit of everything that buffs damage rather than 1. Armor already gives so much damage%. Lucky is always a 2% dps bonus that scales off of your armors attack bonus. Rather than menacing which adds more to the pool
I might use this strat. In Fargos soul mod, there’s an accessory you can use called the universe core which allows your crits to crit, multiplying your already doubled damage by 4x. The chance of this happening is half your crit chance, so if I can get 200% crit chance somehow I’ll be absolutely op.
Actually, there are diminishing returns, so you should also get just as much damage as crit chance. It just works out to be the best to have around the same amount of both.
Crit chance is amazing for pre moonlord but post golem mage, it allows you to use the spectre hood with a high damage weapon such as the nebula blaze and suffer very little damage debuffs from the hood
Yeah i prioritize crit a lot of times in my playthroughs. Balance out crit and damage for awhile, then go crazy when you get access to the eye of golem.
That 100% crit sniper is one beast in pvp. You can still dodge with stuff like the hoverboard, but you can in fact oneshot a fully kitted out endgame opponent. Maybe not a melee build, but certainly mage builds. Me and my friend did do pvp quite often with last prism vs sniper
I think it'd be funny if beyond 100% crit chance, the damage multiplier from crits (normally x2) goes up. So at 150% crit chance crits become triple damage or something.
Sometimes i kinda wish the crit dmg wasn't a fix 200% (im not sure what the exact value is). Instead we should be able to build it up like Crit chance and that'll potentially enable us to build it even higher (like maybe 300%?) for massive damage. But because it's a fix rate we can't really do that. Which also kinda makes crit chance higher than 90% kinda redundant as you'll there's only 10% chance u won't crit and anything above 100% is useless.
I did the math once, if you aren't doing this and just want good modifiers, on a base 100 damage weapon at least, it is better for 1 lucky and the rest menacing for some reason
In my last multiplayer playthrough I had 100% crit on my sniper, was handing on lobotomies while my buddy playing melee kept everythings attention. At one point we wanted to see what would happen in a duel, I killed him in a single shot with the crit, can't remember if I dropped him in 1 without it but that was pretty funny. 3,2,1, Go! deleted.
Even if ur crit chance is like 50 that’s still double damage half the time and since terraria has no crit damage it doesn’t really make too much of a difference and raw damage is more important in that sense
@@parrotmaster8787yeah crit damage is calculated after enemy DR value so going full crit on a high defense enemy isn't any more useful than going full damage. Of course, with dungeon guardian, it's different for obvious reasons
