- Dad Momotaro is not feeling well.
Kintaro and Gentaro haven't eaten much since the day before (Aug. 17).
Kintaro looks sad and lethargic.
Neither Gentaro nor Kintaro moved even when the snacks were spread out. They don't eat.
I felt more and more uneasy when I saw them not eating these days.
Mother Genki was eating well and watching over Kintaro.

The Momotaro family were all born and raised in Japan!
Momotaro (father) was born on October 18, 2000
He came to the Kyoto City Zoo in 2010.
Genki (mother) was born on June 24, 1986.
I was born in Kyoto and came back to Kyoto.
Gentaro (eldest son), born on December 21, 2011

Hey guys, Momotaro has had an adversed side effects from a powerful antibiotics for his wound infection under the chin. As a result he lost a lot of fluids due to diarrhoea and unsettled stomach. He is recovering well, but his absence has had a profound effect on both of the boys. When anxiety kicks in the result is a worrying thing but, rest assure that Momotaro’s weight lost is due to strict diet while being treated with antibiotics under the veterinarian capable hands.

This is so endearing how much they miss Dad. The lack of his powerful presence is felt by the boys. I hope mom Genki doesn't get sick as I'd hate to see how depressed the boys would get. Especially Kintaro as attached as he is to her.

I honestly went to my sons rooms in tears whe I saw this I have watch this beautiful silverbacks since they were babies I wish I could some how hold them and feed them and try to make their anxiety subsided

I know what you mean. I always prayed for my puppy 🐶 he was a King Charles. I cried so much when he passed away 6 years ago. I’m praying hard for this gorilla family. They are like so human! ❤️
The boys are so worried about not seeing their dad, the vets need to watch them very carefully so they won't become dehydrated. I just love this family out of all the other gorilla videos I've seen.

Ughhh! I hated seeing Kintaro like this! I knew Momo was getting TLC and Genki has been thru so much in her,so she is strong. Even Gentaro being older and going thru his emotions when Kinny was a baby made him stronger. But poor Kinny was really struggling. Like his whole world changed. I’m so glad they have peace and quiet to heal! What would he do if anything happened to Genki!
Please get well we are all praying and rooting for this family it's too sad to watch. They are not playing and are not hugging or happy. Please make them well

This has been an unexpected journey for us all. This family is fragile and strong at the same time. Genki has been wonderful through it all. Love to you all, caregivers and gorilla family.

Like any family when one gets sick then everyone gets the same bug. ❤ The keepers and vets have done a great job of taking good care of the family and making sure everyone is getting better
I truly hope ur right, but how do u know the level of care they're receiving? Are u on the vet staff there? It's an honest question, not a smug one. Bc if u are, I'll find some relief from my worry. If ur simply another one of us fans who care about their welfare, then ydk.

I can't believe the dramatic weight loss of Momotaro. In another video, as he climbed up it looked as if he had no energy. What is going on with this family? Surely they have tested their stool samples by now and have an idea of what is going on. Do you know if their indoor enclosure is air conditioned? Some days it is so hot there.
I see the zoo is closed until September 12 due to Covid.This video is close to a week old? Hopefully the Momotaro family is doing much better day by day.
It's because of the side-effects from the antibiotic given to Momotaro for his wound. He suffered from diarrhea after that. Gentaro & Kintaro are affected by the changes in Momotaro's condition. They're worried about their beloved daddy & stop eating too. If you see their instagram, kintaro only eat when he see his daddy is eating too. I guess their relationship are closer than we think 😍🥰🥰 they're getting better & better everyday.
@@pinkyboose thanks sist, this is correct info, gentaro n Kintaro (exspecially baby kintaro), are affected by the condition of their daddy, n soo sad they not eat much. Kintaro just eat when saw his daddy eating too.

He misses his dad. The protector, The Alpha. They need Momo. They don’t feel right without him. Their mom don’t have protection without him and neither do they. Very unsettling for them.

This is old, but these two, Mo and Genki don’t match on any level! I so wish he could have the D jeeco experience. His mates love him. I think Genki has no feelings for Mo. He’s so much younger than her, I hope he gets another opportunity to be loved or at least mated with someone he at least likes.
Do gorilla's have guts similar to cattle. I believe cattle get what's called twisted stomach if they don't eat. They both eat similar foods that's why I ask. Also gorilla's always look bloated so I'm sure there guts aren't like human.
They are similar to humans, but more like horses. They only have one stomach.

There are a lot of people out here who want to keep tabs on the Momotaro family during good times and bad.
It's my understanding that Momotaro also has a bad case of food poisoning. Kinny and Gentaro have it too to a lesser exten5.

I agree I feel for both boys but poor Gentaro has no one. Kentaro has Genki. She doesn't even treat Gentaro like he is her son. I wish the zoo would get him a playmate or move him to a separate place with a female his age. He deserves to be the alpha male.
There is nothing wrong with the way Genki treats Gentaro! He is not a baby and has had Momotaro for 9 almost 10 years as a father, whereas baby Kintaro is only 3 years old. Gentaro was born December 21,2011. Which means he is an ADULT gorilla, and doesn’t need mommy anymore. Momotaro was 10 when he fathered Gentaro so yeah do your math. So stupid! I guess you people expect Genki to put up with Gentaro and baby him so she can just ignore the actual baby in the family. SMH.

@@User14816 it seems that gorillas raised in captivity are somewhat infantilized. Children gorillas raised in captivity undergo a prolonged childhood compared to growing up in the wild.
For example, gorillas breastfeed to the age of 3 in the wild, & up to age 7 in captivity.
In the wild mom gorillas get pregnant again soon after they stop breastfeeding, so the ~4yr old gorilla gets much less attention from then on. In captivity, birth interval can be controlled & births can be spaced out so that the last baby gets an extended period of babybhood.
Since most zoos with gorillas belong to an international breeding cooperative, adolescent gorillas must wait until there is a suitable match before they get paired up.
Gorillas may start sexual develop at 7-10 years, but it takes 2-4 years for them to reach sexual maturity, so for Gentaro 12-14 years, he has a ways to go yet, & maybe longer, who knows!
It will be interesting to see how things play out, in captivity vs in the wild, in a small troop vs in a large troop. No one can say right now. Be alert to novel events.
