I guess it make sense. Valve doesn't want to touch console codes from that era not even with a fifty-inch stick. but still, they could had contact the community to make that port official.
I have the fan made PC port of the original Decay but I haven’t really played it much either as switching between the two characters constantly with a key press is boring busywork and my brother is too lazy to install it on his PC for us to play together as he thinks it will be hard to do. This single player mod really helps. :)
The PC port can be played solo, but it is a bit tricky, since one character is always passive (-> vulnerable) what makes a section of mission 4 and the final battle a bit hard. I am eager to play the full thing of Solo Mission!
Floyd has blessed us with this. Easily a Top 5 mod of all time for HL1. I never got to play Decay and sadly Valve never ported it to Steam despite Gearbox having a PC version built. Decay Solo is a blessing, Gina gets her time to shine alongside Gordon.

You can actually solo Decay on PS2. Pressing start/select will switch between characters on a single controller. It's a little trickier and time consuming to play this way but is totally doable.
I share the feeling of seeing a mod make it to Steam being like an accomplishment and on that note, I wish they had Half-Life: Echoes available on Steam, it's easily one of the best HL mods I've ever played and the creator deserves all the attention. I'd even be willing to pay for it, it's really that good.
@@anthonyfellows390 I think Blue Shift is canon, isn't it? I mean, Barney is in HL2 after all. OF is the one Valve doesn't seem to want to acknowledge along with Decay.
@@karloz2722 Ahhh ok I stand corrected I thought that all Gearbox add-ons were tarred with the same brush but my bad. On a sort of related note if you havnt played it play Black Mesa Blue Shift the first three chapters are really good. :)

Not metion the the deathmatch and the source games but i really like the Valve's games that similar to my imagination stories i making comics.

@@leojwolfhouse8746 Absolutely the decision to axe the PC port of Decay did so much damage to their general recognition compared to Barney & Adrian. Plus for Dr Green specifically; if you look at their itinerary from the PS2 manual, Gina gets a test of the HEV mark 5, Colette gets... A public relations tour. I used to wonder about that, Colette is the oldest of the 3 HEV scientists working on the experiment and yet Gina and Gordon both have more important parts to play than her. I wonder if she ever resented that. More to the point, if you accept Randy Pitchford's argument that the corpse Adrian finds in Xen is Gina (raising many questions of how she got there and why she died), then Colette is the only HL1 era protagonist (unless you want to count the Xen Attack Vortigaunts) who's fate is completely unknown.
What? I played Decay years ago solo on pc... As far as I remember it was a 1:1 port with Ps2 models and minor changes to make it solo playable, it didn't had map changes like the new mod that comes out but still... I thing I got it on File Planet or ModDb too.

As someone who's been heavily studying Decay and all it's variations, I can confidently tell you that the current PC fan ports maps are anything but accurate. Lots of bugs, broken geometry, and even a lot of points that are straight up redesigned
have no clue why anyone would be hyped for Decay. honestly after past few years I kind of inclined to consider all the Gearbox addons far from original scope and non-canonical at some point. that applies to OF and BS. Decay wasn't even on PC so I must say that platform is the most crucial thing that defines the gamedesign and affects the audience, in worst scenarios that leads to isolation and segregation of players, and the even worse scenario is when such thing happen within one franchise. in no way I am questioning the enthusiasts who would actually want to recreate something or port, that was just a good opportunity to share thoughts on Decay.
Some people have never played it. If anything, it's at least a really interesting experiment for the time. To me, GB's titles are at the very least more Half-Life, canon or not. They're separate enough for me to consider them nice addons rather than must-play titles. I enjoyed them when I was younger and I still enjoy them despite their myriad problems. While I dont think they're nearly as good as the original Half-Life, I still think they're worth getting excited over and enjoying. That's just how I feel about them.
Decay is really fun to play. Too bad Valve never ported it to PC. Hopefully this mod being on Steam will bring the deserved popularity to Decay.

Played the first Demo a little bit ago, was a lot of fun. Can’t wait for this to be finished
NICE. Half-Life Decay is so fresh until today. Enjoying the demo and looking forward to the full version and a version in Colette's vision

I think Decay is more like how sven co op should had been like, unlike how it is now. Simple, basic, easy, relaxing, enjoyable.
