Thank you. All the Best for a great 2024!
Fantastic Fraser , really enjoy doing pota here , all the best for 2024 73
Cheers 😀. I need to look at POTA more. As you know, many of the SOTA summits are also POTA refs too.
All the Best, Fraser MM0EFI
Good one!
Cheers Tim. A nice reminder of warmer times!
Excellent! that warm weather operating looks so appealing in the depths of winter !
You're spot on there! I could feel the heat oozing out of the screen when I re-watched this last night. 😁
Congratulations on your first US POTA activation! Glad you get to spend some time in the US and glad you get to play radio while your hers. I just subscribed to your channel.
Hi David, Thank you for the sub. 😊
We had a great time in Colorado & Wyoming back in September and I've already uploaded a couple of movies, with a couple still to come.

Thanks for the video Fraser.
I managed to do a couple of POTA activations in Virginia (W4) whilst on a work trip, whilst my work colleagues explored the parks.
I also did a few sessions from my hotel car park, having some rag chews with some very welcoming US hams wanting to chat to a UK ham aboard, and being really interesting in unusual call sign.
It really enabled me to enjoy the hobby whilst away on work.
In my limited experience I'd say that many more hams monitor 2m in the US. I couldn't send a spot from the top of Mount Evans (now Mt. Blue Sky) but I still had a pile up on 2m. I don't do much POTA, so this was a nice change, with a bit of history thrown in.

Have KX2 , will travel 👍. What made me ever think of selling mine.
I think you've changed your mind for good now!
@@theradiorover yes,ill be keeping the KX2.
@@adamap2796 😊👌
Exciting! Can’t wait for the next video 😁
You won't have to wait long!
Brilliant Fraser. Rare DX is Wyominng, still to get it in thr log.
Thanks Colin. It is a very large and empty state, so I guess that's why.
Great video Fraser, I travel a lot with with and doing SOTA/POTA remote is my motivation for a full license. I was reminded of the old DOS game when I seen the Oregon Trail sign. All the best for 2024 when it comes, hopefully get you in the log next year! Chris 2M0NZB
Hi Chris, Thanks for your comments. I'm really enjoying my foreign holidays with a bit of added radio. It's taken me some interesting places.
All the Best!

@@theradiorover When you are a ham, you are never a foreigner to other hams. you are one of us.
@davidsradioroom9678 thank you! I met a couple of friendly hams in the US. Easy to identify them by their car numberplates 😀
Good video as always Fraser. What an interesting location and you had it to yourself. The operating position wasn’t bad either. Well done on the activation. Hope you had a good Christmas and all the best for the New Year. 73 Chris M0RSF
All the Best to you and Natalie for 2024!

Good video Fraser! I tried also POTA this summer in VE7. Unlike in Europe, it produced a lot of confusion with my exotic call. I finally decided to enjoy the sunset instead. SOTA was much easier going.
73 Stephan
I caused myself much confusion with my exotic call Stephan. 🤣
Hope you're well and have a great 2024!
@@theradiorover 🤣 Thanks Fraser, HNY and 73 from EA3, Stephan
@@theradiorover BTW: one POTA station (P2P) told me that my call isn't accepted by the logging software, so no contact in the log 😧
@@PortableRadio Ha! That's not helpful.
Enjoy your holiday! 🌴🌞
Great job! And very jealous of the weather 😂. I plan to do something similar when I visit the US in Feb. I’m a bit confused as to why you seem to be changing your callsign from K to W prefix and then back again a few times. Is this just a a slip, or something you are supposed to do? Trying to learn about the procedure in advance of my trip, and thought you are supposed to stick to your location.
Yes, my head was a mess with callsigns for a bit. W0 for Colorado. W7 for Wyoming. There's a list of prefixes on the ARRL website. If you're not able to find it, let me know and I’ll send a link over. In the US no one uses the /p suffix, so I dropped that fairly quickly, as my callsign was a mouthful as it was!

Welcome to the US Fraser.
Thanks Joe !
We had a great trip More videos to come 😀
