Great job on the video, I love my FT-891 and have made 5 and 6 thousand mile contacts to Slovenia and Estonia from north Alabama from my mobile on an MFJ 20 M whip! I absolutely agree an internal tuner would make the radio a beast! Love your videos keep up the great work! 73
Great advice for anyone trekking out to the boonies by themself. I've had lots of fun on my bikes out in the middle of nowhere, but I'm really looking forward to getting a similar setup for doing some POTA/SOTA stuff finally. Great way to have fun, but safety and multiple backup plans have to be in the forefront for sure!

I wish I could say I had zero issues with the Chins batteries but unfortunately the first two I received didn’t provide the advertised amp hours BUT I contacted chins customer service and they sent me two brand new ones and let me keep the originals. They may not provide the full 20Ah but they are $60 bucks and will work any day for a POTA activation. During my test at 100watts SSB I got a little over 17Ah.

Was checking out some videos to try to get some ideas for antennas. Not expecting to find a video of someone activating Staunton, and a video from two days ago. I live only about 10 miles or less from Staunton State Park in Conifer Colorado. Was thinking of going out there this weekend. Have never done a POTA or SOTA activation, wanting to start doing both.
As a former SAR member, I appreciate the safety advise at the end of the video. Could reach you easily on simplex from my house to your activation spot. Usually monitoring 146.520
Yep great video I have the 857 and my mic cable is falling apart and saw you have a extension on yours was wondering if you had the information for the adapter cable you have I have been trying to find them. I can’t find one that short.

My buddy swears by Chins. He installs RV solar systems. Big ones. He has never had one go bad. Nice activation. Good safety advice.
