  • This is such a beautiful stitch that can seem quite difficult at the beginning and I personally found it hard to read in a pattern. However, these step by step easy to follow instructions will break down each step of the pattern. By the time you finish the first 2 - 4 rows you will have the pattern down pat! To see the written pattern for this tutorial as well as access a helpful blanket size chart click here: www.diyfromhome.com/star-stitc...

    Maybe this will help. (Row 3) BEFORE turning your work, ch3 instead of chaining 2. Turn your work to the LEFT instead of the right. By doing that you can clearly see the ch3 loops. Now start the star stitch from the 2nd ch fr hook and go through the back loops for the first two chains only and then go through the next 3 sts. You should have 6 loops on your hook. Just a suggestion. 😁 Great video. Thanks for sharing! 👍

    the part at 9:07 confused me. i had a chain of 141 to begin with and when i finished my second round of single crochets i had ended up with 136 stitches by this end of the row. i am not sure if i’m meant to have an uneven number or an even number here, and why my stitch count has decreased. could you help ?😂

    I have a question!! So when doing this pattern my actual star shaped stitches look fine and the side where I start them looks great, but the other edge where I go back with just the single crochets is slanted for some reason. So one edge is great and looks perfect, but the other edge is slightly slanted. Help!!!!!!

    • @DIYFromHomeCrochet
      @DIYFromHomeCrochet  4 года назад +1

      Hi Haylee, I'm sorry that I only just saw this comment now. So this is a problem that I used to run into all the time... if we are having the same issue, the solution is simple; count your stitches and then when you do the next row, count your stitches again. If you find that you have a stitch less you are just ending your row too soon, missing that last stitch. Depending on the yarn you use and your tension, you could be overlooking that last stitch!! I hope this helps

    When you start into the 3rd row do you go through the full stitch when you are gathering up the last two loops before you yarn over ad pull through the six loops

      This has been quite the consistent complaint lately Bob. Thank you for the feedback. I started out with only music and subtitle style videos because I was so nervous to talk. Then I made the decision to step out of my comfort zone and talk (based on feedback from viewers) ... I have reached out for help with my audio issues and have discovered that in the video editor I have been using, the volume for the video clips was low. I am definitely new to the tech world LOL! Thanks again - I'm strongly considering re-doing many of my tutorials to make for a much more pleasant experience.

  • @anneweihsmann7013
    @anneweihsmann7013 6 лет назад +2

    One small suggestion; hope this does not sound presumptuous, since I still have much to learn about crocheting. But here goes: it would simplify the beginning of your video to instruct the viewers to chain an odd number of stitches, rather than an even number plus one, which is the same thing! You could shorten the video and probably appeal to a large audience.

    • @deberebor
      @deberebor 5 лет назад +2

      As a beginner crocheter, I found it more useful to know that this is based on even numbers. That one little thing makes a difference in understanding the pattern. The chain to turn is different from the base count.
