    Wow, I have experienced this since my childhood, never could run more than 4-5 minutes with good speed, but I never knew the term. Recently, I joined the gym and felt the same, now I know what it's called, Thanks.

      For me I’m young I’m in 9th grade, & I’ve been having pain in the area above my belly button and it’s always after like one good sprint, it happened to me when I played a soccer game and about 2 years ago, I ate a Krispy Kreme donut before the game because I thought it would be good to put something on my stomach as soon as I started running the area above my belly button started hurting. I don’t know what it is but I was thinking about seeing a doctor about

    Now i know why i almost always used to have this stomach pain during our cross country run sessions in school, it was so uncomfortable.
    Now no time to run 😕
    Just intermittent workouts.

    I never knew there was a term for this pain and you've done a very good job in explaining vividly about side stitches now. I always face this problem while running and have to stop halfway through my run due to the pain. Will keep up your points!! Once again, thank you :)

    It also could mean that running or any kind of intense exercise is causing your body's temperature to rise which then causes the gut barrier to weaken which is why some people feel sick after exercising. What you can do is strengthen your gut barrier with supplements like L glutamine.

    Yesterday I ran uphill.
    And got a stitch.. At half point from my home. I became afraid what to do.. So I just walked slowly, reached home and searched video and thx for the info.. I felt much more better today...

    Tysm ! I usually am always in good form when it comes to runing but I played soccer and my stomach suddenly started to hurt very bad because I didn't warm up and I ran fast

    Thank you so much man.. I needed that.. Just got home after running.. I felt this pain today while running.. I didn't know what it is.. But it was quite enough to make me stop.. So i stopped right there and got home worried about what that is.. But thanks to you now i guess i know...it happened because i started fast and then got slower.

    Hi Divyansh, everytime I started running I stopped because of the runner's stitch. I had a thought that this is just with me and I have some disease. But now when I started using your tricks of cycling I watched this video too and now I know it's absolutely normal. I will use your tips and I'm not going to stop my running anytime in life.     Mahalo! Been running for years and years... When my wife told me she had such pain...i told her it was probably side stitch . She was skeptical ... because i could not describe whats happening well enough.... but i did tell her she needs to warm up and start slow... but that was in one ear.. out the other... found your video and just had her watch.. " OH, ok , Got it!!! " 🤣🤣

    Thanks. I have noticed that I get the stitch when I start out fast. I do walk before but I sprint the first half. I’ll try talking it slow at first and the gradually speed up.

      I don’t know why that happens but it hasn’t happened in a while but it used to always happen

      Or maybe you were not maintaining a gap of atleast an hour between your pre-workout meal and your workout. And in case of a large meal like lunch, do maintain a gap of atleast 2 hours.

    I literally do all these steps yet I still got it while at my XC meet today I was 20th place then had to start jogging because the pain was sooo bad and lost my medal 😞

    Thanks for the tips ma n! I've been running about 0.5 miles every before my soccer training and whenever after the 1-2 minute mark I use to get that pain, I'll try this out today and if it works...Thanks again

    I may be an outlier, but from running cross country and distance track for four years, I can eat a foot long sub two hours before the race or even a 6" one hour before and I'm perfectly fine. I think part of it is just becoming a consistent runner and overtime you won't get cramps as often

    If you get a side stitch while running the best thing to do is tighten your core/ tightening your stomach but enough to be able to breath and run, most side stitches are caused by organs in your body moving around when running tightening will make them stop

    Hey Melt Your Cheese does it also consider when drinking water before running. then all the sudden youre lower right abdomen hurts. is it appendix or side stitch

      Yes it does! Don't drink too much water just before heading out for your run.

    Man it's hard when you get shitty genes. You just have to learn when to slow down and know your body better than most folks. But it can get discouraging when you feel pain when others breeze through physical activity. But it's important to push through the pain that way you can truly call yourself stronger than before.

    I don’t know if you will read this but sometimes after my workouts like basketball or running my stomach starts to hurt badly. After about 10-15 minutes it go away tho. I don’t know if this relates to the video but I was wondering what is happening.

    Hi sir I actually searched everywhere about this I thought I have some disease which I saw on google it makes me anxious. Actually I experience pain on my lower right abdomen while dancing this is the second time, the first time is when I did jumping jacks. But it just happened to me now last time since childhood I don’t experience this that’s why I think I have some disease.

    I run for about 30 secs and I get a left abdominal pain and it happens every run, EVERY RUN, just only for 30 seconds and I get a left abdominal pain. Do I need to go to the doctors is there something wrong with me. Please help. Im also under weight. And use to do martial arts almost everyday.

      If you are a beginner, then listen to your body and take it slow. Fast bursts of exercise may cause cramps.

    For me everytime I walk for more than 5 minutes some were in my belly just stings. Its never in the same spot. Sometimes I feel stinging above my belly button,sometimes below or on the side but ones I stop walking it goes away, how am I suppose to exercise while feeling like someone is stabbing my stomach 🤧🤧

    The pain is in the left stomach or the right stomach? Cause my left stomach hurt when im running

      The pain can be anywhere in the diaphragm. Since the diphragm extends from the left to the right, any part may get affected.

      Hi! That can be one of the reasons.
      1) Maintained a gap of atleast 1.5 to 2 hours b/w a major meal and your running session. Have something like a banana or nuts 20-30 mins before a run.
      2) Do dynamic warm up exercises before your run.
      3) Try and breathe deep either through your nose or mouth while running.
      Run regularly. Happy running :)

      Avoid sprinting initially. Go for slow runs atleast for a month or 2 before trying sprints.

      Yes, please avoid eating anything just before your runs. Instead eat something light, 30-45 mins before the run.

    Do u think having cold can also do this by blockin nostrils and you've to breathe only through your mouth? Bcz I've Been runnin since around 1 month and never faced this problem but today after catching bad cold it happened...

      Yes, that is a possibility. Breathing through your nose is the most efficient way of breathing and utilizing oxygen.
