I've met her more than a few times and she always remembered my name she's the nicest funniest kindest woman!! I feel so lucky to be able to met pple like her aka Living legends through my work :-)
Yea one were girl went hide each time she turned cabin light off and all sudden u see light flip.on that gave chills lol she was good match for role of Jason mother
I never thought I'd hear her curse, never! I guess it just goes to show you how it was for the golden age of television. You couldn't say things like that on the air. Off the air and when no one was looking, fine, but on the air, that's a no-no.
I was there. You can actully see me and my wife in the video. It's at the .46 second mark. Im wearing a The Crow Shirt. It was filmed at scarefest 2008
I just got back from a tour to the original camp crystal lake. It was amazing. Annie the hitchhiker, Alice the counselor, and officer Dorf were there and would let you get pics with them. That would have been awesome if Betsy Palmer would have been there. But judging from this it wasn't her favorite project.
@davekn74 - I almost got tickets for the first tour a couple of years ago. That must have been an amazing experience. I’m not sure if you ever got to meet Betsy, but she did ultimately embrace her role in this film. Because it impacted so many people. She was one of the kindest people you’ll ever meet. She treated her fans with great warmth and respect. I think the larger thing that kept her way from events like that was her age. She was well into her eighties when she passed away in 2015, and probably not up for a tour that involved a great deal of physical activity.
@@finster1968 , and one thing I like is that she never revised history. She always admitted that she initially thought this was just going to be a cheap fly by the night horror flick.
PungiFungi - Absolutely! And she was totally blunt about her initial opinion of the project. She read the script and said to herself “What a piece of shit!” I love that story. She was as real and genuine as it gets.
@Slytherin Entity she's still cute. I was able to get a pic with her by a jeep similar to what she was riding in. She also took pics where she reenacted the scene of her getting killed by the tree. Hard to beat getting to experience recreating some of the scenes with the acresses at the original camp crystal lake. Amazing experience.
@Slytherin Entity yes. If you look up camp crystal tours it should take you to the site. You will see it's owned by the boy scouts and the camp is called no Bae Bosco. Or something similar. They have a few tours a year but don't always have the movie guests. You will still get to walk on the beach of camp crystal lake. Go through some of the cabins. Hear some history of the camp and the film. I've been able to go a few times. My favorite moment was a pic I took with adrienne king the actress that played Alice. I put on a jason mask and am popping up behind her as she's in the canoe on the beach. The guest stars are great sports and will take pics or short video clips with you. A horror fans dream
The producer at 1:02 giving her a guilty look because he knows she should have been paid a whole lot more than $10,000 for what she contributed to that film..
@@zufgh Before the movie was filmed and looking at the story on paper I could imagine why she thought it was a piece of shit . Maybe she didn’t know there was a bigger audience for horror movies .
She never ever changed her story. She needed a new car and thought the script was a "piece of shit". Later on, I think she derived some sort of amusement saying that.
11-1-2009. Happy Birthday, Betsy. Or can I call you Mrs. Voorhes? You were great in Friday the 13th. No one even suspected you. And I also remember your work on Knots Landing. May you have many more.
Betsy was awesome in this. Funny the movie made ten times its budget in opening weekend and nearly 40 million total and the franchise brought in one nearly 400 million, not bad for a movie no one would see.
I am LIVING for the fact that Betsy Palmer literally trolled Vic Miller, TO HIS FACE, IN FRONT OF GOD AND EVERYONE, about his sh!tty movie. (It's a brilliant franchise but we all know it was a rip off of halloween) I'M SCREAMING and have that little moment on repeat.
I'm sure the money she got from autograph signings at conventions far exceeded $10,000. The residuals couldn't have been much, but all those airings on TV kept new generations interested in her.
She never took into account that her acting alone would make this movie good! It was mostly a terrible movie SHE made it amazing with her role at the end.
Rofl. Poor Victor Miller sat right beside her, listening to her trash his writing. I mean she wasn't wrong. We all love it, but it's hardly a great film.
The Friday 13 frqcjises are first one with Jason was good.kane holder did hell.of job but it also.made.it scarcer I rember when girl was hiding each time in different cabins trying get away and she hides in closet before she turns off light all sudden. U see light turn on and pounding at.closet door.that scene when little scared shit out me
@ZombieCallum yea, it was 20 minutes of sex and then kids get cut up, not that they all arent that way but the sex was kinda weird with the camera. otherwise it was a pretty good movie, or lets say entertaining
She gave such a wonderful over the top performance. I'd have loved to have seen her reintroduced later on in the series. A pre-quel with her backstory would have been great. Go back to the really grizzly 70s slasher feel. Perhaps the descent into psychosis began pre-Jason's death. The original was only topped by Jason Lives in my opinion. Thanks to Betsy's chilling turn and the jump off your seat scares.
She got 10,000 dollars for Friday the 13th. Not bad for a 20 minute role in a small 500k Horror film
Her agent also get a cut. And with taxes, that role probably paid for half the amount for that car she wanted.
I've met her more than a few times and she always remembered my name she's the nicest funniest kindest woman!! I feel so lucky to be able to met pple like her aka Living legends through my work :-)
R.I.P.
Did I just hear Betsy Palmer say shit? Holy carp, LMAO!!!
I once read she accepted the role because she said she needed the money for a new car .
Wish I could have got to meet her. What a great actress. And so nice to the fans. She is a legend for our franchise. I will always remember her.
Oh Betsy... glad you eventually came to embrace it in later years. People ADORE you for this inimitable role.
Never in a million years would Betsy do a horror movie, that totally stunned me but I have to admit she was very good in the movie.
Yea one were girl went hide each time she turned cabin light off and all sudden u see light flip.on that gave chills lol she was good match for role of Jason mother
RIP Betsy. :/
Betsy Palmer was a savage haha. I wonder how many horror actors were cool ppl and didn't wanna do horrors at first.
Boy, that sudden and deafening sound at the end is just so soothing. So glad I didn't anticipate it at all.
I never thought I'd hear her curse, never! I guess it just goes to show you how it was for the golden age of television. You couldn't say things like that on the air. Off the air and when no one was looking, fine, but on the air, that's a no-no.
Little did she know that this franchise would immortalize her as Jason’s Mother

That's actually Victor Miller, the writer of the original movie, having a small heartbreak over her calling his writing shit lol.

LMAO, I love it! I’ve always heard about this, but this is my first time hearing it directly from her. Wow. #RIPBetsyPalmer #HorrorMovieLegend
Now you’re a legend. RIP Betsy.
AAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I loved that, should be a drinking game every time Mrs. Voorhees said that.

Amazing!
She scared the wits out of me as a kid, lol she was perfectly casted for this film, she is a horror icon Legend, may she rest in peace

Honestly, the first film was the only one worth watching because of Betsy's role - so unexpected!

@Ziffel67
Yea the Kevin Bacon part was the Best!! ;)

She never took into account that her acting alone would make this movie good! It was mostly a terrible movie SHE made it amazing with her role at the end.
I see she's still wearing the cable knit sweater...are you trying to tell us something, Ms. Palmer?
Yeah, how about making the outro music even louder?
Rofl. Poor Victor Miller sat right beside her, listening to her trash his writing. I mean she wasn't wrong. We all love it, but it's hardly a great film.
@OnlyAKnife
you're right the newline movies weren't good atall
even the new 2009 movie seemed more like an American Pie film
