Not only a Japan game, but an off-meta Japan (ignoring the fact that Japan itself is off-meta)? What did we do to deserve such a treat? Informers lasts 20 seconds and has a 5 minute cooldown. Who would have guessed that Fortress Age Spies are actually pretty good? Probably not going to become meta, but against civs well known for spreading their eco around the map (Swedes & Ports come to mind in addition to Brits) it's a pretty nifty trick.
After Quiting India, playing exclusively japan. And these BO are awesome with japan. Sometimes we underrate the silly cards that dev included. But maybe they are there for a reason ?!
I think I saw game where Aizamk sent 300 food as Japan, but it was from like 7 or 8 years ago, he was playing vs Iroquois and did some mad unit pops. I can't find the video now though, anyone else remember it?
Worst card for 1v1, and probably any gamemode, is most definitely the one that makes your villagers cost 60 wood instead of 100 food (I think it’s called zen diet). But I think it’s a close call with the India one that makes your vills cost 100 food
Hello, once I ran the numbers on that card "Zen Diet" out of curiosity and I found out that it actually makes your villagers cheaper as in you need less villagers and time allocated to gather the resources to build a new villager with no idling Town Center. From that I concluded it would either allow you to allocate some villagers from food away and still be able to maintain constant villager production or increase food abundance. Would you or others in the community consider it a bad card because it does not provide a lot of tempo or for other reasons?
@@meritonvinca5188 speaking from what I know about the game, I would say it’s a bad card for 1v1 because you lose a lot of tempo, since it is basically a worse “Medicine” card. Also, it seems to have anti-synergy with Japan since you need your wood for shrines, but I haven’t ran the numbers so it could be worth it since macroing only 1 res is a lot easier. Now I am tempted to come up with a build for team games with this card, like going for shrine boom with yumis or something

Why wouldn't buddha be meta? Free spies in fortress age? The 300 food was indeed actually meaningless though. He could have gotten heavenly kami or trade empire or even good faith agreements or just skip it entirely. The real offmeta would be toshogu age up or the one that has arsenal upgrades
