New Ferrari SF90 Assetto Fiorano - the fastest road car we've tested? | evo LEADERBOARD

- It's Ferrari's most powerful series production car and its first plug-in hybrid. It's also one of the most complex cars we've driven, one that takes as many miles and as much time as you have to give in order to extract the most from both it and you.
Just how efficient is it at making the most of its 4-litre turbocharged V8, three electric motors and combined 986bhp? We headed to Anglesey Circuit for three days with a truck load of tyres - Bridgestone Potenzas, Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2s and Pilot Sport Cup 2Rs, plus many technicians, race fuel to melt your eyeballs, and Steve Sutcliffe.
Could it be the quickest road car to lap Anglesey's Coastal circuit?

that car is scary fast , when you have to short shift mid corner to manage the tq output thats just wild
And super beautiful.
Yes it is. But you don't have to short shift. An alternative is to - you know - manage the torque control pedal under your right foot.
I'm always amused when I hear people say about some car that, "It has too much power for the street," or some variant of that. An 800-hp car (or whatever) doesn't HAVE to deliver all 800-hp all the time. The manufacturer kindly thought to include a foot operated control device that lets us choose how much power we want at any given moment. My 189-hp 4-cyl will light up the driven tires if you're already at the limit of traction in a turn when you floor it. Any car will (assuming no safety nannies that do the managing for you).
@@xtnuser5338 when was the last time you drove an 1100 hp triple HYBRID ASSIST car with street legal tires ? Talking about throttle input while pushing that alien spaceship to the limit … 😂
@@blaqjac21 I've driven a couple of low-8-second GTRs, and was somehow able to avoid having any trouble. I've driven a 950-hp McLaren and miraculously didn't kill myself.
Doesn't change anything I said. Some throttles might be hard to control precisely, but that's an engineering/design/mapping problem. My point is valid. In fact, the more electric a car is, the MORE controllable it should be. That assumes, of course, that they've mapped the torque output linearly with the pedal. If they mapped it to all come in all of the sudden, then sure that's going to make it things very challenging, but I doubt they've done that.
If you can't figure out an appropriate amount of throttle pedal for the condition you're in at the moment, that's a YOU problem, not a car problem. Sure, some cars are harder to get a feel for than others and can be difficult...like the old 911 Turbo for example, because even with a given throttle input, the boost coming on would surprise you. But you ought to get used to its characteristics and adapt your right foot to it. Machinery is predictable and consistent, even if it's unusual.
Anybody who's good at putting down fast lap times...in ANY car...has refined their throttle control. Like I said previously, even my low powered lotus on sticky rubber will light up the tires and the rear end will try to come around when you're driving at the limit...IF you aren't careful with the throttle. My GT3RS will do exactly the same thing, and so will that SF90. None of them are "uncontrollable" or anything close to it.
There is no uncontrollable car. There are only drivers who can't control them. And don't come back talking about "What if the steering control rods break?" or some nonsense like that. We're talking about properly functioning cars here.
There's a lot of cars that you have to short shift mid corner to manage the torque lol
Sutcliffe delivers as usual. Love the on-board and timed footage.
My favorite magazine, one of my favorite writers/presenters, an amazing track, and a state of the art Ferrari doing a new record lap. Sensational!
Love the onboard footage of the hot lap. It almost felt like I was right there doing the lap with you. It did get the adrenaline going.
I love the SF90!!Remembering that 211mp/h is the electronic limiter and not the maximum speed! I can't wait for the SF90 "VS" that Ferrari is testing !!
@NELSON'S RACING Koenigsegg ? ;-)
Yep, was just about to say that Ferrari are currently testing an even more extreme, track focused SF90.
@@janphilipp86 wow, what a comparison. Koönigsegg costs only 3-4 million more lol
SHEEEESSSHHH! This car was already amazing, but they’ve still found a way to increase performance 🤯
Honestly this just make the 488 Pista time more impressive. I mean it already was by being faster than a Mclaren P1 on Trofeo tires, but still.
Anglesy Is such a spectacular and suggestive circuit, so completely immersed in the elements of nature..❤️❤️
Fantastic video, thanks to the whole team ! Too bad your times are missing 3 legends :
- LaFerrari
- LaFerrari FXX-K (almost sure it does better than the P1 GTR, and I'm not talking about the EVO...)
- McLaren Senna
Steve Sutcliffe is a hell of a driver as well as being, in my opinion, the best reviewer out there.
Even he was saying he need a brave pill. That Ferrari is scary indeed.
The SF90 Stradale is an absolutely incredible beast. So beautiful and lightning fast. Ferrari is simply the best! 💪
Fantastic video evo and well done Steve; can I just say I super appreciated the wide-screen format; more like this please
Great lap and so much more informative and immersive to watch than a typical throwaway showboat lap … really told you about the car and the way it drives 🔥
So good Steve. One of my favorites to watch and listen to! Never stop driving cars for us please hahah. And boy is that car quick?! Ten seconds into the hotlap and you can see just how rapid. Cracking stuff!
Loving the SF90 more and more, especially in this spec 👌
Steve, you're such a brilliant driver!
Fantastic video and narrative. Never tire of listening to Steve's analysis. Power on so early out of corners....
Steve your DRIVING in this is FASCINATING to watch thank you! Evo foregrounding fast driving in videos is awesome thank you.
Steve Sutcliffe is my favourite presenter and a hell of a driver as well as being, in my opinion, the best reviewer out there.
evo + steve + LEADERBOARD..... i love my life
EVO, you listened! No letterboxing! Thanks so much 👏
More Steve please! Cheers from Italy!
Always a joy seeing you in the office, Steve.
Incredible Steve, just one more amazing review and awesome drivability
Great to have Steve doing these times hot laps again!
One word ... GORGEOUS !!!
I’ve driven one…it’s mind blowing to say the least
Bravo Steve. Excellent video as usual. And good to see you looking so fit!
Would like to see the time for standard cup 2 road tyres, might not be so quick then,
That or the pista on cup 2 Rs
Steve is the right man for this car. Please buy him one.
Keep up the good work, Steve. You're the best.
Amazing drive!
Love the sound of that V8 at high revs
I love that Ferrari put their racing DNA into their mid engine supercars like this and they're actually quick around a track
I kept thinking you were gonna overshoot the corners and then it just ripped right around the apex. Massive grip.
Anglesy, longtime no see! More of these videos please 👍🏼👌🏼😊
Masterpiece! Respect!!!
Jeez this thing is ballistic !!
Short shifting to tame this beast, savage. Superb driving from Steve, that turn in is immense
That lap was nuts
Love this, it looks like it has absolutely no understeer
All that power and R tyres, 9 tenth up on a 488 Pista...Not mind blowing
each tenth is harder to achieve....
@@Jackinacox thanks. Level of ignorance in these forums is astounding
What a LAP!
are there any other cars that boost the front-axle to exit from a drift like this one does?
The only thing better than a Super/Hypercar review, is a Super/Hypercar review done by Steve :) Fab review of a terrific car
Great Video!! That car is insane 😂
Awesome 2k ultrawide cinematography!
One of the best Journo presenters..
Hats off.
Good to see and hear Steve again. It's been a while since I last caught one of his videos as he seems to have moved around a bit. Great car but perhaps too much of a speed weapon and unsuited to the streets. I think I'd prefer the simpler, less exotic and for sure less expensive 296GTB / Spider.
I felt my sphincter involuntarily tightening in some of those corners. That car is scary quick.
Different level kind of content
Phenomenal car, another lap record on Carbon Revolution wheels!
A big plus for the aspect ratio 👍
Brilliant narration - calm, mature and pure class. No 20 year olds on too much Adderall
sutcliffe you legend !
What a film!!!
OMG! Whaaaat a car!
So many questions. Would this change the result of Ecoty? Obviously not on those tyres, but do you think it would be a different result in Scotland? How much of the more positive review is down the having a crew from Ferrari in the pit lane?
Sutcliffe has surpassed Harris IMO. Just a tad less fun but far more informative and relatable. Just like Jethro.
Apples to oranges. Each has strengths in their respective disciplines. It would be fun to seat time each around with the same car, same circuit, and set a time. Loser has to drink from the winner's shoe.
Nice driving, thumbed up five seconds in.
was expecting Jethro but when I heard Steve voice....even better....lol
And this is not a GTO or an SPECIALE or CHALLENGE STRADALE version of the SF90, so they've space to develop a track focused SF90. Well done Ferrari.
F*** the revs build up is insane. Almost unreal.
Thank you
Why the proviso for P1 tyres & why does this one not get same treatment?
What do you exactly mean by « why doesn’t this one get the same treatment? »?
@@unpsuedooriginal4282 Why is it important to state the P1 tyres on the scoreboard & why does the SF90 not have the tyres in brackets on the scoreboard like P1?
@@OilBaron Back when the P1’s lap was run it had two factory tyres which were the Pirelli P Zero Corsa and the Pirelli P Zero Trofeo R. Evo ran the P1 with both tyres, resulting in the P1 having two laptimes entered in the leaderboard (one on Corsas, and one on Trofeos), hence the precision in the tyre compound. Other cars such as the SF90 also have two different compounds (Cup 2, Cup 2 R) but since Evo directly laps these cars with their most track focused compound resulting in one laptime added to the leaderboard, there’s no need for them to do this with each car.
It's not the most inspiring looking Ferrari I've ever seen. It's far from the styling of an Enzo or a La Ferrari. But the performance is truly undeniable. It almost feels as though Ferrari said,...."to hell with the looks. Let's just get the handling and performance PERFECT. We will build a beautiful car around that later." Lol
I want this car like no other
I like this reviewer
I see Steve I like the video simple as that 🙂
Some telemetry would've been nice.
Take it onto the 'Ring; let's see what it can really do.
On Cup 2 R, racing compund tires for track use ONLY.
Interesting the contrast between this car and the one tested in evocoty
This Car is like Jeremy CLarkson, you are not fully agreed with it, but you love it anyway
Love you too xxx
Ferrari best supercar brand in the world ❤🇮🇹
All time favorite reviewers:
1. The Trio
2. Steve Sutcliffe

"Thats not that heavy"
I still want one.
Did you already drive the 296 GTB at Anglesey?
I love how this video perfectly fits the aspect ratio of my iPhone
It was painful on my iPad….
Hope you get to test the Daytona SP3 as well
Try the 812 compitizione! and the f8!
What would a McL P1 do on Cup 2Rs?
Kudos to the BAC mono
Why was there so much short shifting mid corner ? Feels like it could have been even faster.
in fact, there's is still a few tens to shave off in this lap; the early upshifting and downshifting, though I understand why. but why not just push to the limit?.
Scary fast and scary quiet
where is 765lt? or GT2 RS ? We need them o n leaderboards
I noticed you have to take your hand off the wheel to shift which is not ideal, especially when attempting a full concentration track record.
Great car and so fast its in the top few cars at almost every track its on even against Senna, GT2RS amd such.
0:41 is that a scuff in the carbon lip? 😵
What's coming next is the Sf90 Versione Speciale, less weight and more power.
Love this but surely the time being 1.09.99 means that rounding up its 1.10.0?? Not really 09.9 is it?
A set time is a set time, my friend.
Why does it always sounds like they have put a pillowcase over Sutcliffe's head and locked him in a shoe cupboard to record the audio??? It has been like this for years now!
Is it really 200,000 for a new battery?
Looks like a proper hand full.
That's what she said.
Did the pista have cup R's on ?
Yes.
Ferrari ❤️
I didn’t even think it was possible to make a faster Ferrari SF90 without losing to much traction . 👏 goddamn Ferrari is on a role. First the SF90 then the 812 competitizone, then the Ferrari SP3 daytona and now this ? 🤦♂️
SF90 🏆💯👑🏎️
Very nice track review, thanks. It would be interesting to see it on Cup 2 tires, would it be faster than the Pista still?
I know this is going to sound weird, but have you thought of bringing out a Tesla Model S Plaid for a reference lap? I’d love to know how it would compare, almost everything on RUclips is a straight drag race, so it comes across as the fastest car out there..
Contact Sasha from mountain pass performance and get his personal modified plaid model s on a track. 😁
how does the 992 gt3 do ?
