    I am a very small user, I wouldn’t mind to pay something, but the gap between free and Teams is too big. I understand that they fear that existing teams user may downgrade if there would be a cheaper licences category. But I wonder how many people are in my situation that the price for going into teams is just too steam

      I'm sorry to hear that! Is the $20 per month too much for even just one user, or is it the cost of adding multiple users to your account?

      Agree. Need a plan to bridge the gap.

    Totally agree Gareth . Cash flow positive is the thing i keep from these announcement. Also agree about the new plan structure. New Clients will start at 20/month (as they use to) bur now they can upgrade !. the pill is hard for old client with PRO PLAN and weak pockets...

      Thanks, my friend. No more free rides with Airtable, but I hope that helps make a better software for all.

    They're definitely abandoning a large client base. That's too bad.

    Really well balanced review of the situation Gareth. Profitability is what will ensure longevity. Howie does not seem to be the kind of person who lays off staff without a thought for their futures. From what I’ve read, the redundancy packages have been extremely fair. Their focus on large enterprise customers should have a positive trickle down effect for the rest of us.

      Thank you, Shaun. It's a difficult situation and a hard topic to cover. I'm hopeful that this means we have a better Airtable in the future. 🤞

    I’m amazed you are so supportive of their behaviour. I was on pro, this became team but they halved the storage, forcing me to double my costs to business. No notice, no help offered, no explanation. In 30 years in IT I’ve never seen my costs double in a month : all the best - Steve

      You make a great point, Steve. I'm disappointed that there was no grace period and that this was dropped on us all without warning.

    Airtable sought to be a household name by now. They missed. Now they are scaling back the $100+ million monthly burn rate to increase runway. This is appropriate business behavior in my opinion.
    Also, I agree with your remark that Airtable is not alienating the small/medium range customers. If you're using Airtable properly then it should be worth way more to you than an extra $25/mo/user.

      Thanks for your comment. I agree that pulling back their spend is a prudent business decision. That said, I still hope that they do become a household name 🤞

    The CEO made a bad decision on hiring, and now the people who went to work for him are paying for it. Furthermore, as pro subscriber - I'm not happy about being forced into the Teams tier and am considering moving to a different product. So I think they are alienating their smaller customers.

    Adoption of AI and automation is trimming tech staff team sizes. This isn’t just airtable.

    Not a bad analysis for a tech geek😊 seriously good take. It is a good business move and a natural part of the tech adoption lifecyle if you want to get to the next level. "Innovators" won't like it, but they are the least loyal and profitable of all market segments. Most "early adopters will stay" as Airtable shifts sales focus towards lagards, which tend to be the enterprise customer. If they win, we win.

    • @GarethPronovost
      @GarethPronovost  Год назад

      Haha, thanks! I agree re: business move. I think a lot of the "innovators" tend to overinflate their value to a company like Airtable that is seeking million dollar deals, not $24 per month...
