You could have a pet fox, you just have to have enough money to build a huge ass enclosure in the back!

Most people who have foxes they have them around. Not actually in their house.
They just feed wild foxes and they always go back for food, so they kinda get used to the person and let them pet them and stuff

Honestly as much as I would love to have foxes as pets, I still have mixed feelings about the whole thing. There's a lot of illegal breeding for their coat patterns and then being sold to people with no experience or not fully ready to commit to the peculiar needs of foxes. I support responsible people that take care of those that can't be released in the wild for various reasons (obviously) but I feel like it would just end up in a "pitbull" type situation where inexperienced people get a hold of them and they end up in the streets or put down, and we don't need more pets on the streets, but that's my take anyway (let's just hope people learn to be responsible or get a license for them or smth)

You get irresponsible breeding for all "domesticated" animals. I put that in quotes because, aside from dogs and livestock, most of the animals we keep really haven't been domesticated. For them, captive breeding is more about cosmetic differences and ensuring that there *is* a captive population rather than taking 'pets' straight from the wild.
You mentioned pitbulls, which is a good point and goes *way* beyond that breed. Whenever a dog breed gets popular, loads of wannabe breeders pop up to churn out puppies for people who probably shouldn't have a pet *rock.* So you get inbred puppies from abused parents sold to clueless owners. Meanwhile, folks with sense find a reputable breeder, train their dogs, and get slapped with the same breed-specific laws as the assclowns.

@@brigidtheirish I agree with you, there are good responsible people out there who suffer from the actions of terrible people. Also I did take "pitbull" as a general terms as I am aware that this is a category of dogs and not really a specific breed, sadly too many animals suffer from things like that.

@@elflooffer5196 And a *lot* of dogs get misidentified as pitbulls when reporting dog attacks. Heck, a study was done that showed which breed people identified an aggressive dog as changed depending on which decade you're looking at. Can't remember details, but I think it was sometime around the '60s when dang near every dog attack was committed by a great Dane.

Foxes maintenance sounds like macaw parrots but less fun, less colourful, more dangerous and their pee and poop smells vs macaw parrots who don't smell
I assume foxes have less dandruff than parrots though
So what i'm saying is, if you don't want a kid but want something like a fox without being blasted by concentrated pee, parrots could be an option for you in the future after a bunch of research...... it'll probably outlive you though or the nearest vet will be a minimum 4 hours away OTL
(Why i'm never getting a bird again, especially budgies, their health issues are too numerous and no one warns you OTL)
