In my country our best performance spinners are much smaller size than these birds..And at the flying championships the old professional men who always win said the secret is the area and shape of the birds tail in relation to its wing area..Fast regular clean deep spinners have smallish low drag tails they would shape with scissors before the contest..The flying performance of their birds defies gravity..beyond Amazing.
@SmokesLoft we don't have coopers in the UK but I know you are covered in them throughout the USA Peri's and sparrow hawk mainly hear but our S H is bigger than the ones you have over there and more like your coopers in size
I usually just keep them locked up and hopefully down the road they will change their depth. I think it's normal for some rollers where they can't or haven't learn how to control their depth. But in this case I'm not sure if these roll downs will ever change that behavior. Pretty much what I think about roll downs. Maybe other people who has experience with rollers in a long time can give their thoughts. Cheers brother 👍
You are allowed to express your opinion. However, this statement of roller pigeons having "seizures" goes way back to the 19th century. This theory has since been proven wrong. Their are studies that they have attempted to give Epilepsy reducing drugs to the birds. The result didn't change, the pigeons continued to roll as normal. Also how can you explain the fact that roller pigeons will roll in unison alot of the time too. The truth of the matter is that in England they had selectively bred these pigeons that would tumble in the air and eventually became rollers.
This comment has been scientifically proven wrong. The theory that pigeons have seizures data back to the 19th century. Their have been studies done where they have given pigeons antisezure drugs and the result is they it did not change any fact that the pigeons continued to roll just the same as before. The truth as to why these pigeons roll is through selective breeding the rolling acrobatics back in England.
@@marvin2977 yeah we are all afraid to fly our birds because of Hawks. Depends on what are you trying to do with your pigeons. As for me I fly my pigeons to determine which ones are going to be the best in my loft and breed them. So If I fly them and a few get taken by the hawk I have to accept that. To help avoid hawk issue you can try timing when they are by the area and put shinny object around your loft to see if that helps. Also the health of your pigeon is important. Keep them healthy and strong so they can avoid being caught. But if you feel it's not safe to fly them, trust your gut. Hopefully this helps my friend

That is really interesting. Thanks for sharing 🙂
We have 8-9oz bird's In the UK.
Iv had them like that mate. Its just excitement alot of the time. Keep an eye on it
I lost her to the hawk 😢
@SmokesLoft. Lol I just got a notification on that video. I feel you buddy. Iv lost 2 in 3 weeks to the Peri
@robsrollers1329 The peri doesn't really show up but when it does, I lose a bird every time. I'm stuck with cooper hawks for the most part.

Much appreciated 👍
I might have to get a nice little kit of rollers soon, after watching your videos, 👀😊👍
That's very cool. Looking forward to it brother 👍
Very nice looking birds
Much appreciated 👍
Yes loft 👍👍👍👍👍🕊🕊🕊
Thanks 👍
I lost a lot of pigeons because of roll down, check my channel out
When I first see my bird roll like that I think something happened 😂
Lol. Unfortunately, the hawk took this one.
Mine do that sort of thing after too much wheat and supplements for some reason
Interesting. Thanks for sharing 🙂
I remember this video I started watching it and never finished until now lol if you decide to get rid of that roll down let me know
Sure no problem 👍
Please do yourself a favor and do NOT start with culls.
Think there's ever been a incident where a bop followed a roll down all the way???.......(bonus thought) then snatched em up.???
I've seen where they snatch my rollers when they hit the ground. Unfortunately, the hawk took that tiger grizzle.
What do you do with rolldowns and is this a normal thing to happen with rollers

They don’t usually correct the behavior and end up milking themselves. Most roller guys get rid of them. Some breed them to birds that are not deep.
I agree with you. Unfortunately she got taken by the hawk.
These birds are having seizures mid-flight and it’s unethical to selectively breed them for these traits.

Can a hawk catch your birds?
Yes. Hawks can determine which is the weakest or vulnerable and aim for their prey.
Oh, I have Turkish tumblers I’m scared to fly them cause of hawks, if you got tips for me I’d gladly appreciate it!
