Honestly bluepoint should've just recreated the original music instead of trying to put their own spin on it, like how RE2 remake has an option to put on the original ost from the PS1 version, shame.
This fight’s hard for a different reason than the rest. It’s like. You bust into a clinic to assault the sole doctor and have to fight her boyfriend, when both are begging you just to LEAVE. Even if you’re being a good Slayer and You kill her to save the world from the Old One whom she’s empowering with souls… you still killed a genuine saint.
I fucking love how BRUTAL the attacks in this game are. I can't think of any other game where hits have so much impact. The way the screen slightly shakes and how it feels to SMASH this mace on someone is incredible oO
Many people I’ve spoken to think negatively of this, they think the tone and mood have been “utterly destroyed”. I disagree with that, if anything I think this is more emotional. The music starting during the cutscene and then fading out until you approach is a very nice touch.
I still think it's nothing compared to the original. These music tracks have a dark soul and bloodborne feel to it, they're really dont match the sobre tone of Demon's Souls. Also rip Garl new VA
the tracks feel like they belong to the latest entries of the soulsborne series, not here, thats the main issue here, the theme is just way too grand (the choir was the last nail on the coffin for this soundtrack imo)
the new track sounds nice but I remember the original OST being really chilling it completely gave the charm of the strange setting and misunderstanding
They got rid of the long, atmospheric walk before you encounter Garl Vinland? It's like they didn't really get a lot of what made this game and this fight special.

The whats the point of remakes then,
Love the improved cutscene and Garl Vinland's voice actor (not sure if he's the same or not) did way better this time around. That mace backstab is brutal too. Music not so great though... I get what they were going for but it makes the fight feel less tragic and more like you're killing the Pope's evil twin or something
Yeah, it's treated too heroically when it's supposed to be an unheroic moment and a shock to the player, making them question if they're doing the right thing. I also prefer the original voice for astraea in how she said "take your *precious* demon soul", the tone was so vindictive and hit you right in the gut lol
I just saw an explanation right above your comment. "Astraea sounds much more angry this time. I won't even regret killing her now xD" Works as intended! Can't have a PS5 launch title make the players feel bad. Maybe a little, but leave enough room for an excuse. "I'm sure they were evil, Garl was sleeping in a pile of corpses after all."
Unpopular opinion: the music still kind of fits. It would fit more if Astraea was more active, but I kind of understand why Bluepoint made the music like this: It's less sad and more just....nihilism inducing. IT's depressing and hopless on a level nothing the original game had. Just sucks any desire to fight out of you as opposed to the grim trudgery the original had. Original: "Let's just finish this." Remake: "Do...Do I really have to do this?!" Also, props to the voice actor. OG Astraea was more petulant and angry and I feel her consigned despair and more subtle hatred of the player is more haunting.
most people don’t understand the process of emotional storytelling through dynamic music. this is exactly what this version is. the original, although still very good, was admittedly repetitive. the music in the remake is honestly much better in my opinion. the way the strings swell when the impact of the fight is at its highest gives me chills

I don't think it captures the original. I mean you go through the entire area filled with plague monsters and finally you get to the last area. It's a lady begging you to leave. Her knight Garl Vinland doesn't approach unless you do. The people surrounding the area won't attack because they believe she is their savior and only one to care about them. Then the music kicks in which is an eerie but calming tune. You have to continue the game so you fight her knight which asks you to leave as you kill him his last words are how he failed. You don't even have to attack the maiden she just gives up. I know this is what this is but I feel it lacks that original sad but eerie charm the original had.

they butchered the ost, in the trailer of the making of the ost sounded awesome, what happened?? huge let down
Yh it was better there
This one sounds good but the original has feelings, you nearly can feel the sorrow in her voice in the original.
It sounds exactly the same as the making video.
Mmm, i think i misunderstood this my apologies, and yup in the making of video the soundtrack sound more clearly, and in the gameplay the ost is outperformed by the sound effects.
@@p.j.darkinsane4986 the original were just a bunch of notes in a constant loop made with one instrument, this has a lot more feel In my opinion.
"We live humble lives..." So, doesn't that sort of imply that Garl does stuff?? Like, does he do stuff, then when he feels like it, he crawls underneath a pile of corpses and hangs out/sleeps? Or is his humble life just chilling underneath bloody, rotting corpses all day? To each their own, but that's a very interesting humble life ☠️
Am I the only one who prefers the original voice actors and music for this boss fight? 😶
Me too, expecially with the music, it starts a little too late and the volume is pretty low. It just doesn't hit like the original
Me too..
@@TheRealVaanmaster 100%! I mean the original one is more emotional, as u play u wonder why why are u doing that, plus their voice acting was sooooo much better... uggh..
@Coby yeah true, I mean it doesnt have the same feeling, the music isnt as strong as the original, and the way the actors speak doesnt have the same impact.. idk
@@mhmdbilani What do you mean, not as strong? It has more instruments, it must be stronger! Bigger orchestra is always better, no matter the composition and its use. And the voices are now recorded with higher fidelity and bitrate, which also makes them automatically better. You are getting more of everything, why are you complaining?

You gotta admit, Garl taking the corpses off his body as he gets up is badass
Giving NPC's now voices and screams when getting hit makes the fight so much more sad.
This battle is the only battle that makes me say: "I wish things were different..."
I still can't believe how good the visuals are...maybe best I have ever seen
I know right? I'm used to seeing good graphics in story oriented games with a few mini games. DBH for example, not a Souls game. Bluepoint did heck of a job with this remake, not like I expected any less from such a great developer anyway.
@@SalvageET sony should let them make their own ip...starting to get really bored with exclusive games that are mostly movies like God of War 4 and TLOU 2...

That Vinland Armour set is my favourite of all the souls series.
For me Havel is best looking armor and Garl Armor is second, and Penetrator armor is third
Man I'm not a crybaby, but i hope the add a feature to let us choose between the OG OST and the Remake
why did they put this generic OST, damn bro
The worst part is, the notes are there, but they went with a new piece of music. To be fair, it isn‘t „bad“ but it‘s a damn shame compared to the original OST. It does kind of baffle me that they changed it but I get why they did it as well.
Well, I‘ll go on ahead and listen to the original again now, See ya there (probably)
All they had to do was perform the same music with real high-budget instruments rather than midi and it would be a perfect ost remake but instead they gave every track a drastic tonal shift. I don't know what they were thinking.
@@babyspoot The worst part is how they talk about the necessity of the changes. "The only way we could have done the genius of the original score justice was with a full orchestra. For that we had to change it completely, and we took a lot of inspiration from Bloodborne."
Okay.....Astraea is now my new lockscreen wallpaper.....and keeping my ringtone to the original OST. 😁
Man This was such a hard boss fight!! It looks amazing now!!! The score the detail back then I was excited now I’m going crazy I bought the game I just gotta wait for Sony to pump out more consoles!!
Imagine getting rid of the best boss theme in the game. Shameful.
They fucked it. Missed the point on a load of levels.
the whole remake soundtrack is fucking garbage
It's dynamic, it changes depending on the intensity of the fight and switches back to the melancholy part when only Astraea remains, pretty good attempt in my opinion.
Imagine whining about an amazing remake over a theme, when the original still exists. Fucking children.
@@HeceduHM don't bother. Purists are easily the most annoying people when it comes to stuff like this
Newcomer She will turn into a monster, won't she?
Souls veteran: You don't get it, do you? There are two archdemons in this area.
Newcomer: Yeah, I know. Garl and Astraea.
Souls veteran: *sighs*
No, the Slayer of Demons is nothing like an archdemon. Yes, he is a mute cold blooded executioner, but not an archdemon. Slayer isn't a demon, at least not in the Valley od Defilement. I know you meant it metaphorically, but being a demon, as shown specifically by Astraea, has nothing to do with your deeds, nor your morality.
bro you just posted cringe. You don't have to be a veteran to understand the meaning of this boss fight.
@@Dev-nr4dw Are you sure? Because someone commented this about Fool's Idol, and 26 people agree with him.
"I like her new design mire than the old one. *The new one looks more demonic like* . And her hair is floating everywhere. Love it."
That's the thing, Fool's Idol should look graceful and kind, because it was created with the purpose of fooling the prisoners of Latria into sacrificing themselves. If it looks demonic no one is going to fall for it.
If people are thinking that Fool's Idol should look demonic, then there's chance that some thought Astraea would be a "wolf in sheep clothing" that reveals their true self in combat, like the suspicious beggar of Bloodborne.
@@Filip_Agrippa by more interpretation of lore you become demone as soon as you start using soul power, basically after your 1st level up, Maiden is transforming you into demon and when you are ready to face archdemon....well, you are clearly an archdemon already. demons in DeS are not just typical demons, its creatures who get power from souls.
The messed up the song, they should let the tingle sound be as it was in original, more sorrow to it
I didnt play the original but I like the song here. Sounds holy and emotional to me
The song is meant for Garl Vinland.
That's it. I need original music option. This is nice and all but nothing beats the original.
I'd never even heard of FromSoft until the Demons Souls Remake. It was hyped up so much as a PS5 launch title I thought I'd give it a go. Now I can see why there is so much hype around the series. I cannot wait until Elden Ring. I think this will be a GOTY contender for sure. There's just so much lore to these games which I love!
So how's the ring treating you

Same people. Its just 11 years apart. Voices change.
@@iangratton6062 they didn’t need to re-record them
@@iangratton6062 For Allant it has nothing to do with the VA's age. They just don't use any audio effect or echoing, nothing. Purely the VA so some things sound off compared to the original. Maiden Astraea for example could definitely voice change from getting older but tbh they may have gone for a little bit of a different tone as well
@@ImShyo I think they tried to give Astraea a more holy presence which is why her performance sounds very weird compared to the original. She sounds more like she is pleading while in the original, there was a clear tone of disgust in her voice. Same thing with Garl, who in the original sounded venomous and rough while here he sounds stoic and triumphant (I think the original voice fits his dialogue better). Honestly, I prefer the original, but I like what they did with the fight. The music made it seem more about Garl, who is the real boss in this "fight" and his hopeless struggle in stopping you. As for Allant, I have no idea what the hell happened lol.
Why they didn't use the old ost😑
Now they have generic God of War music yeah
Im more concerned with the voices. And goddamn that HUD is gay as fuck! Just look at the original. This one has no style
Because it wasn't EPIXXXX, the general game lacks the old charm

That backstab beat down really puts into perspective what they are portraying character as.
LETS GO BABY WHAT IVE BEEN WAITING FOR!!!
Many people I’ve spoken to think negatively of this, they think the tone and mood have been “utterly destroyed”. I disagree with that, if anything I think this is more emotional. The music starting during the cutscene and then fading out until you approach is a very nice touch.
i just really dont like how you can basically backstab chain garl vinland
I still think it's nothing compared to the original. These music tracks have a dark soul and bloodborne feel to it, they're really dont match the sobre tone of Demon's Souls. Also rip Garl new VA
@@Crabo99 I agree partially. some of these tracks sound unnecessarily epic compared to what they were before
the tracks feel like they belong to the latest entries of the soulsborne series, not here, thats the main issue here, the theme is just way too grand (the choir was the last nail on the coffin for this soundtrack imo)
@@ags8507 and lets not talk about some of the nee enemy designs

The whats the point of remakes then,
Yeah what a shame.
Why die they change the FK music such a stupid decision.
The music is far superior in the remake, nostalgia is a hell of a drug.
The original's music is WAAAYYY better
Me after the 5th backstab and watching Garl get smashed into pulp: STOP HE'S ALREADY DEAD!
Daaaaayum lol
And just like that the ds1 backstab chain was born..
Someone should put the original voice acting over these visuals, I want to feel the same dread and conflict I felt all those years ago.
I liked his old voice better
I just saw an explanation right above your comment. "Astraea sounds much more angry this time. I won't even regret killing her now xD"
Works as intended!
Original: "Let's just finish this."
Remake: "Do...Do I really have to do this?!"
Also, props to the voice actor. OG Astraea was more petulant and angry and I feel her consigned despair and more subtle hatred of the player is more haunting.
No its just a generic epic Soundtrack that I heard a Million times now in other forms.
The old Soundtrack was unique, sad and perfect.
most people don’t understand the process of emotional storytelling through dynamic music. this is exactly what this version is. the original, although still very good, was admittedly repetitive. the music in the remake is honestly much better in my opinion. the way the strings swell when the impact of the fight is at its highest gives me chills

Its really strange how the backstab is clearly 3 hits, but the damage is all upfront. I wasn't sure if I was seeing things, until Garl vapourised before the player was done smacking him.
