This week we continue to Tavel and live in our van with our pets, our dog and cat. As is often the case though it's not quite gone to plan and we have to leave our van for a little while.
As we continue to explore the south west of Scotland we head into Galloway forest, and really do get up close with nature! We are blown away by the scenery in this lesser known tourist area of Scotland and think this will be a road trip to remember, as we wild camp our way around the south west coast.. hopefully!

What lovely people you are! It is important to put the animals first and your change of plans really seemed to sort out AJ's injury. Scotch pancakes are also known as drop scones (the mixture is dropped onto the griddle!). As you found out, they are slightly thicker than ordinary pancakes or crepes and tend to be a bit sweeter. Love your videos and miss Scotland!

My mum made them all the time as my dad was welsh and loved them !!!!

Hubby emigrated here to Cali from Huntly in northern Scotland as a young teen, and being able to see it now through your eyes I have a much deeper understanding of his love for Scotland.

so glad AJ is doing better now. loved watching the vlog. scotland looks beautiful. i deffinatly want to go one day and see the puffins and the seals. i havent been since i was tiny and so too young appreciate the beauty of it. one day im going to make my vanlife dream come true... but like you we would have a home base i think. I think i have watched almost every one of your videos now so i was glad to see another one today :) curled up in bed with the trusty hot water bottle on my bad back after a busy sunday and everyone else in the house is asleep, watching this in peace... just bliss :)
That does sound like bliss, I know we would love to spend more time here and go further in but that will have to be saved for another trip
We stayed in a lodge in Lydney, Forest of Dean in September last year with a hot tub, sitting in it with rain dripping on us from the trees above us was bliss. Glad you had your lovely week in comfort with AJ recovering from his bad leg.

Glad AJs leg is improving and It looks like Summer enjoyed her little Lodge break . Great places to visit. Me and a friend stayed In a little cottage in Port William about 10 yrs ago before I brought the van. such lovely scenery and area to visit and the Forest of Galloway is a fabulous place to explore and take lots of pictures we've also treated the wild Goats and Deers to carrots. Stay safe and dry ladies , Looking to your next video 💕

We’ve moved up from Essex two years ago and live near Thurso not far from John O’Groats. We love it. The scenery and coastlines are stunning. Hubby had found a puffin roost so we visit there when they are here. Yet to see red squirrels. So glad AJ is back on four paws. He certainly looked like he enjoyed the home comforts of the lodge. We did look around where you were when buying and if we hadn’t found the place we bought we probably would have been where you are. Have a safe trip x

Hi...we live in moho and spend most of time in Scotland...love it up Thurso way but does the wind get a bit much?
@@chrisminton1777 can do but the scenery makes up for it. We have an autotrail Cheyenne and that can get a battering from the wind.
@@jayneboulton4672 yes we currently in Annan getting thrown about all over..I suppose its part of it.

@@campervibe I don't think they come in any other flavour! I recall a trip to the vets one Christmas morning when one of them broke her leg leaping off a wall. She got patched up and next day she was right back up there! 🤘🤣

You are such great custodians to AJ. Just great that he has improved. Galway is a wet region. Where I live on the East coast we get about 677mm of rain each year. Scotland is full of micro climates. Sometimes all you need to do is travel 10 miles to get to a different climate. Red squirrels are generally found in the north near Aviemore and further north than that.

Love Scotland. Travelled all through the Highlands and most of the East Coast. Just stunning.
I loved the fact when the woodpecker was displaying, another species came to check out if any bugs had been exposed 🙂
The person that first introduced the grey squirrel to the UK has a lot to answer for, as the grey has and continues to be devastating for our native reds. I've never failed to see red squirrels whenever I've been to Formby nature reserve......though have not visited there since covid started.

Glad AJ is well and truly on the mend. It's frustrating for them when they can't enjoy life as usual. Not a bad place to hole up for a few days though. So far, the scenery in the SW corner of Scotland hasn't disappointed. The Galloway forest is stunning. Looking forward to more next time 👍👍

SO glad to see AJ is better ! We also allow doggies in our Alaska Airbnb cabins, never a problem (children however, hmmm) I know you don’t want to add weight to the van but maybe look at a folding or light doggie ramp ? We’ve used them with our aging pets. Thanks for cheering me up with another wonderful video !!

Def agree with the choco spread in croissants. Put the oven on 150C cut your croissants in half and liberally spread your choco spread inside then place on a baking tray then inside the oven for 5-8 mins. Yummmmmy.

Lovely photos Louise. Shame no red Squirrels 😢 I went to Dalemain mansion near Pooley Bridge last year and saw a red squirrel bobbing about in the garden. You don’t see many these days. Glad your dog is better. Looking forward to seeing more of your travels in Scotland.
