Something that kills me is that Kraven's father has this super thick Siberian accent, or whatever eastern European country he's from, and Kraven himself has the most generic "action guy" accent ever.
Hope it’s because the father could have been a grown up when they migrated to whichever country where they had to speak english, and his two sons were still young and had time to assimilate and lose the accent a bit or completely.

Also they didn't really tone down Carnage or Venom because they were always pretty goofy and non serious in the comics (at least until the last 5 or so years).

And when I say they watered down Carnage, I meant that they took out all the stuff that made Carnage menacing. Kraven made more sense to adapt than Morbius, but Sony is slowly realizing that they have Venom, Black Cat (which they won’t touch because Woman), and nothing else. I’m surprised they didn’t fight to get Punisher while his rights were in limbo (because Netflix had ahold of him for a while there). Punisher debuted in a Spider-Man comic and the two recurringly met up after that point. They could’ve argued that he’d fall under the Spider-Man blanket. I know he had 3 movies that flopped, but they finally got it right with Jon Bernthal and after the success of John Wick, all they’d have to do is get Gareth Evans or someone like that attached, give it a budget of 60-75 million, stuff in a Kingpin and/or Spider-Man tease in the post credits, and the money would print itself at that point. Kraven made more sense to adapt than Morbius, but Sony is slowly realizing that they have Venom, Black Cat (which they won’t touch because Woman), and nothing else.
I’m surprised they didn’t fight to get Punisher while his rights were in limbo (because Netflix had ahold of him for a while there). Punisher debuted in a Spider-Man comic and the two recurringly met up after that point. They could’ve argued that he’d fall under the Spider-Man blanket.
I know he had 3 movies that flopped, but they finally got it right with Jon Bernthal and after the success of John Wick, all they’d have to do is get Gareth Evans or someone like that attached, give it a budget of 60-75 million, stuff in a Kingpin and/or Spider-Man tease in the post credits, and the money would print itself at that point.

My mum hates Russell Crowe and superhero films but for some unfathomable reason wants to watch this. In many ways she's the smartest woman I know, but sometimes I just do not understand how her mind works.

Seriously, if you're gonna do a villain movie, make them a villain! Like oh yeah, he's bad, he kills people, but they're all Russian mobsters who work for his abusive father. It's just Morbius again. I don't know why they don't just use their Spider-Man, unless they got some agreement with Marvel Studios saying they can't; it can't make these movies any worse. I wanna see Kraven hunt Spidey and be an unhinged weirdo, not some conventionally attractive brooding dude with an American accent and traumatic backstory.

I honestly hope these Spider-Man villain movies all come together in an Amazing Spider-Man 3 where Morbius, Venom, Kraven, Vulture, Rhino I guess? Come together with someone else as a Sinister 6 threat.
Could be a good way of avoiding the failings of past spider-man movies that overcrowded themselves with too many villains who had no time to be developed since this time they all already have their own movies.
They obviously aren't in that universe because of these different versions of Rhino
