This video helped me have a 100% recovery (non-surgical) after a mountainbike crash. The part where you mentioned overlapping / shoulder being pushed forward after healing gave me an idea. In very simple terms I kept my shoulder / shoulder blade pulled back so it wouldn't get stuck overlapping. I loaded up on calcium, vitamin D, collagen peptides, and regular protein powder + alot of healthy foods. Age 36 and within 2 weeks I had full range of motion. I was riding again after 8 weeks but honestly felt like I could have after 2 somehow, but wasn't going to risk rebreaking it while still fully mending. It's shaped a bit more like a Z than an S now and lumpy. However my shoulders are equidistant, same posture, and I have 100% full strength & range of motion.
Same here, i just got a clavicule fracture about a month ago and going through conservative (non surgery) treatment, theres some probabilities that a slight malunion (below 2cm) will occur and my doctor says its fine. My concern is how about the streghtness of the bone in the future, will it be as strong as normal bones or fracture that going through surgerical treatment?
Woohooo !! I’m praying for the same type of recovery. Let me load up on the supplements and healthy foods.
@@yosatobing9834do you have an update on your progress? How long did your recovery take? Thank you.
Sir what you suggest, operation or not
I had a conservative treatment for my shoulder, but now it feels internally rotated and depressed, and really hurts when I try certain exercises. I’m debating whether or not to go for surgery. I feel pain with almost every pushing and pulling movement with pronated grip, especially because the shoulder socket is smaller now. I can still work around it and hit the gym to build muscle, but my pecs have ended up looking uneven.
My collarbone is broken. After how many days I will be able to work again after the operation
Sir me i asking about collagen this is okey for medicine for my clavicle frocture
Sir my father had a midsheft clavicle fracture...i m so confused about it that should i go for operation or it will joint automatically....now clavicle breach n arm rest r using now... please do reply?

I have a distal third clavicle fracture. Doc has provided 8 figure clark brace. Will it be sure shot idea to work ? To avoid nonunion
Any progress ?
@@learnthrivecompassion422 it sadly didnt worked ,sowent for orif
Did the brace work? My husband has a distal third clavicle fracture too. It happend about a week and a half ago, doctor has recommended surgery and a plate. Trying to decide whether to let it heal itself or do the surgery. Any recommendations? He is not in a lot of pain but there is a small lump on his shoulder now :/
@@RoadTripUSA brace doesnt work. Dont waste time .go for surgery from good doctor.
What is your opinion on distal third clavicle? Do you recommend surgery? Or do you think there is a chance of healing on its own?
I have the same issue - did you have surgery ? How is it now ? Thanks
@@d121n9 Hi, I opted not to get the surgery. It took about six months to heal completely. My shoulder is fully functional and has full range of motion now. But I still have a bump where the bone hasn't gone back into place, and it does seem like my shoulder is a tiny bit shorter on that side now. Probably not noticeable to most people but I can see there is a slight difference.

Broke my clavicle and had my surgery almost a year ago.
I have the last one where the bones overlap, I feel pain and lost major amounts of strength, even gripping something, I feel like I’m not even gripping at all. How much does surgery go around for in NC.
How's your shoulder now?
Any updates?
@@caseytbss good now, don’t have the same strength as before but doesn’t bother me no more
Doc im from philippine i broke my right clavicle having a complete angular fracture with minimal callous ,and comminuted scapula fracture with no changes in degree of displacement it is my 9th week Now ,my doctor remove my sling and recommend me for a Physical theraphy im confuse because it still a pain and numb in the area of my injury ?
Should i still wear my sling even if my doctor advice to remove it?
Im in non surgical
Bro i do also have a clavicle collarbone fructure, and its one month now, i have brace on my shoulder and still im not removing it, di pa ako makapunta ng orto kasi lockdown ngaun.. I dont have yet any idea, ang ginagawa kolang diko masyado ginagalaw balikat ko, nung una akala ko kasi dislocate lang ang ginagawa ko iniikot ikot ko balikat ko wich is masama pala kasi inopen ko un sa doktor nung last na punta ko sa qc banawe ang sabi nia lalo kolang daw pinaglalayo buto ko, ayun since then diko na sya iniikot ikot.. At wala panaman sinabing dapat operahan.. Kasi magseself healing naman, so kapag nakapaunta na ulit ako ng orto at nag pa xray dun ko palang malalaman kung may healing na nangyare sa fructure ko.. Kamusta ung sayo.. Nag under surgery kaba..

@@cyrosubod2317 bro sabi ng doktor need modaw mag under surgery?
Are we talking about clavicle fractures in adults or children? Might make a huge difference because of the periost and surrounding tissues …
What if it is displaced??
Hi there,
Thank you for your question. Here is a response from Dr. Silver. Sorry we didn't catch your question right away but hopefully other folks will find this useful --
"Good question! A fracture that is “displaced” generally means that the ends of the bone at the fracture are not in contact with each other. The more separated the ends of the bone are (more displaced), the more likely surgeons are to recommend surgical treatment. Another factor in determining whether surgery is needed is comminution. Comminution refers to the presence of several separate pieces of bone from the fracture. Comminuted fractures are less likely to heal and surgeons are more likely to recommend treating them surgically. Ultimately, a lot of factors need to be considered when deciding whether or not to treat a clavicle fracture with surgery; most of the time this is best done in person at the time of an office visit."
Nafracture din po ang clavicle ko dito banda sa may collarbone ko kailangan po ba itong operahan o stainless plate lang ok na?
Same na fracture din yung sa akin dahil na aksidente ako ng bike ko needed ba kaya to mag surgery?
Mine got fractured too and the urologist said I need surgery to fix it.
I want to know why this paper goes against the gold standard of clavical fracture treatment, which is none surgery. The description of the findings of the scientific paper here is so generic its useless. Why not put the link up to the paper so we can read it ourselves? knowing about sample size, age group, degree of fracture separation, overlap, and a whole bunch of variables would be informative.
Mine is impacted and depressed but I’m too scared to do surgery. I’m in a figure 8 right now and the skin is pretty tented with the bone. Hopefully it heals
How's it going, care to provide an update? Hope it healed well.
@@24MPZ hi, just broke mine today. how long till new xrays. show if nonunion or stacking together. not sure if i should demand surgery.
I had a fracture in the middle and x-rays done a week later showed the bone was still seperated. I was told to keep wearing the sling and to minimise movement for four weeks.
After four weeks the bone was still seperated so I was told that I should have surgery. This occured a week later and I'm in my third week of recovery. The post surgery pain was pretty bad for two days but I feel improvement now. I have to wear the sling for three more weeks.
It's a painful injury to deal with, good luck to you mate.
@@zoozu2067 Hi, I go for my new x-rays on Friday. Sunday will be 6 weeks from fracture. Almost pain free since last week. Here in Canada, our Provincial health coverage is too cheap to offer surgery unless it's the worst break possible. After such a long ordeal, I'm hoping for no surgery now. Can't do another month of pain and sling again. Wish me luck..
@Zoo Zu hru doing now

thanks bro
Hi my clavicle fracture has made a tent formation and I’m not sure wether to contact the hospital again or if it’s a problem it goes like this 🔺 it’s been three weeks so far and still looks the same.
@Moheeb if you complain that you have pain in your shoulder, neck, back or chest that is related to the injured side they should offer surgery. I was put in a fig 8 brace and my "healing" process took a year before they had to operate due to shortening, and an overlapping non-union. Took a total of 2 years to return to a state of not feeling pain from it anymore. Muscle atrophy is a BITCH. I finally just got back to where I was before the incident 4 years ago.
@@tomasrodrigo3807how old were you and how bad was the break?
I hit my nose with door and nose became taller. Has bone become thicker or changed shape?
I broke my clavicle yesterday and they want me to see an Orthopedic Surgeon this week. It’s a weird looking break. One part is very lifted and overlapping. Would this require surgery? Is there a way I can send a picture of my X-Ray?
It may not require surgery. But do the surgery. I broke mine in 3 places a week ago. And had surgery Thursday. It’s not bad.. I have friends whom haven’t got theirs surgically repaired and they have issues all the time.
Please call the EmergeOrtho office at 919-220-5255. Thank you!
I broke it today, help?
@@kiking9260 do the surgery. that is the best option. i had a surgery in my left mid clavicle with plate and screws.

Well, that settles it. Thanks, 5 year old internet Doctor video!
Of course they need to be done, but Drs refuse to do the surgeries. You're comparing results of ppl that are mostly couch potatoes, which is most people. People that are athletes need surgery! !!
I work out but not an athlete and I need surgery. Mine is pretty bad compared to others I've seen though lol
