Personally I think Ninja Ninja is a "perk" of the #2 headband. It manifests a spirit that encapsulates the holder, working as advisor, encouragement, general conscience. #1 has transcended humanity, #2 still has the option to be human. Which way the manifestation pushes the holder is based on the wants of the person. The spirit that Afro's master got may have been one that said "yeah, you're _not_ about this life. Put it away until you find the person who is finds you." 16:50 (ish) Maybe Afro sr thought if the holder died without being beaten, the power of the headband would be broken.
Its pretty been confirmed that ninja ninja is the manifestation of all the other emotions/feelings afro has repressed over the years. Thats why he's so "fun." Ninja ninja is the spark of life that Afro couldn't fully enjoy because of his life's mission.
@@chillreview636 either it's from anime, manga, video games or so on at the end Afro really lost everything at the end because of revenge. He made his choice at the end. Sad that his father and his master didn't want Afro to go down this path. Even Justice called Afro out on his actions.
i have the directors cut of the entire series and they explicitly state that ninja ninja is basically afros inner thoughts/personality that he suppresses due to his blindness for revenge. basically everything ninja ninja is saying is actually afro inside his head saying how he really feels or just speaking out loud in general 😭
Shiiiiiiiiiiit You asking the real questions lol. Mugen is my dog, but Afro was doing some straight up super hero stuff in this show. Mugen got cooked by a blind woman... TWICE!! I think Afro takes it in a easy sweep. But I've gotten more requests for a Black Dynamite video than anything else. Definitely planning on dropping something about soon.
From what I understood ninja ninja was a God like being. That enabled the number 2 fight the number on. And as much as the act of sacrifice seemed to be to help Afro, it was to make sure that the fight actually happened.
That makes sense, but honestly so do some other explanations I've seen, so I'm still not sure what the answer is 😂😂. Either way, I think most of the interpretations I've read are dope so I'm not stressing too much about. Thanks for watching!
Nahh, for afro to kill geno he needs to abandon ninja ninja , ninja ninja is like he last strand of humanity, held him back on his quest for vengeance.
Great video! love Afro samurai, i would like to share this, the creator of Afro said in a interview that he wanted every version of the story to be slighty different from each other and he used Batman as an example. The manga, anime, game, and even the black and white pilot all differ from each other one way or another.

In the manga ninja ninja is like a spirit for the no. 2 headband and there an other character in the manga who is a spirit for the no.1 headband that isn’t in the anime ninja ninja is kinda diff in the manga too
One thing I would like to note is the similarities in philosophy and looks themselves of justice are very similar to the Judge from Blood Meridian. I highly reccomend that book as a good read its semi historical.
@chillreview636 It's a book from the guy who wrote the road and no country for old men. He took a autobiography called my confession about the Glanton gang, a multi racial gang of apache hunters, and added his own characters to track events and explore philosophy.
Pretty good series. Although the sequel film has me scratching my head. Is it like an Evil Dead 2 situation? Where it’s a sequel but also a remake? Idk Side note: are you familiar with the anime series: K Project and Durarara?

Soooooooo everyone’s going to hate me for suggesting Tokyo Ghoul because of how they effed it up but like… Tokyo ghoul please 😂😤 the anime or manga just not the Netflix movie lmao
Lol no hate from me. I watched the 1st season back when it aired and I still vividly remember that torture scene. Never watched the 2nd season but from what I've heard, I guess that's a good thing 😅
Saw it what 15 years ago? Didn't read much into the story, thought the action was cool and called it a day. Maybe I should watch it again. And given how much Afro talks, they had to give mr. Jackson some more lines lol! Sure thing he voiced Ninja Ninja!
The 2n̈d part was so dark and sorta empty at the same time tho , maybe i was not in a good head space to watch it , but i found it suffocating . The passage w the prostitutes, how the sister of jino is filled with an unstoppable hatred, jino s situation...pffff.....that was a lot to digest....
@@chillreview636 ah! I m glad i m not the only one with that opinion! And u re right btw , i was wondering why the 1rst season wasnt as dark to me , and u re right , it s bc of its format i guess. I saw episodes for part 1 and a long 1h30 film for part 2.. Afro samurai still remains in my top 5 of favorite anime , but i cldnt rewatch the 2nd part tho. Exept the fight with the guy who adopted the toddler afro saves, the one w long hair , and between the festival and the shamisen music ...or samuel l jackson who says :" oh no u broke the partay!" 🤣that whole passage was fantastic!
you need to re watch the movie it continues where the series left off, its shows the circle of revenge and the choices you make by accepting the burden put on you no matter what reason you did it for and if you pay attending theres a deja vu circle repeating with two other characters in the movie that minmic afro and his father i let you guess who they are when you re watch the movie and review it
I was originally gonna include it in this video but the script for to be too long as is lol I'll definitely rewatch it though. Might even make a quick video on it some day
The thing that makes this such a good revenge story is the fact that the narrative isnt just "revenge = bad" , it's that it comes at a price. Yes, his path caused the deaths of a lot of innocent people, but at no point does it feel like the show is trying to convince you that what afro is doing is wrong. Maybe it's just because his origin is so dark and morbid, or the fact that majority of the people he kills are people that tried to kill him, but this show did such a good job of making you be like "yeah, these guys needs to die".
Idk if I agree with that. At the end of the day it is subjective, but to me, it felt like the show was saying revenge will never bring you happiness. The further down the rabbit hole you go, the more of yourself and the people you care about you will lose. Afro killed a lot of men who probably deserved to die, but he also ruined The lives of good people like Jino, his sister, and all of the other orphans because he couldn't let go of his lust for vengeance
@chillreview636 The thing is, despite all of the tragedy that follows him, it's still satisfying to see him not only kill those that stand in his way but the person that sent him on the path of revenge in the first place. I'm not saying he's objectively in the right, I'm just saying the narrative is a lot more nuance than just saying "Revenge is wrong, and afro is the villian". I completely understand jinno's motivation for hating afro, but it's still not a black and white argument because you also understand afro's motivation for choosing revenge over letting go. In my opinion, this story is The last of us part 2, done right.
Okay. I think understand more where you're coming from now. The story is definitely more nuanced than you're average revenge story, which is another reason why ita so good. And at the risk of starting a whole different debate, I gotta say that TLOU 2 is actually one of my favorite video game stories ever 😅. Not sure why people dislike it so much
@chillreview636 I didn't play the game, I just watched cutscenes on RUclips. But 3 main reasons I personally didn't like it is because the pacing is awful, the narrative is very contrived and unsatisfying, and Joel's death was (no pun intended) not executed well.
Honestly, I didn't play the game either. Watched the cutscenes just like you did. Pacing is a legit complaint, but it's a complaint I had with the 1st game too. I thought the narrative was really satisfying. At least, seeing how how the cycles of revenge and vilifying others kept creating similar outcomes. Like Abby and the little boy basically becoming a mirror image of Joel and Ellie From TLOU 1. Not to mention a bunch brutal and heartbreaking moments throughout the story. I personally didn't hate Joel's death as much as other people either. He definitely had it coming after what he did at the end of the 1st game. I guess it was a little out of character to trust Abby and her crew so easily, but he was older and softer by that point. After years of arguing about TLOU with people I've just come to accept that it's a game people either love or hate. I guess we just fall on opposite sides. Still respect your opinions though
