Full of love for science, he likes analysis and study; he therefore finds, by habit of his work, in difficult positions, excessively ingenious resources. Of a more cold, methodical, maybe too serious character, Mr. Potier belongs more to an English or German School of chess, looking for progress over distractions."

this is the best online series now. with most great series like Game of thrones, the 100, the walking dead and so on... either are gone or delayed, this is what we have now, and the best part is when Morphy said the other guy (sorry I am bad in remembering names ) wont be able to win even a single game, it just makes it an excellent Saga or Series, I am eagerly waiting to watch what will happen, I even did not read the comment segment because I don't want this to be spoiled for me, Thank You Very Much for making chess so interesting and I wont even play chess maybe once or twice per week
How Morphy can play with such strength and elegance and absolute sight over the board while blindfolded against several players who as a consequence have several times longer to think about their moves than Morphy, I'll never know. What an outstanding player!
If you thought his moves were good, look at what PCM did the next day after these games: "The next morning, Paul Morphy dictated to Edge all the moves of his 8 blindfold games, including possible variations. For two hours, Morphy dictated the moves and hundreds of variations of all eight games."
agadmator should do a video summarizing Morphy winning a case. "and it was after that argument, the defendant pleaded guilty as there was nothing more to do here."
Being from Louisiana, and a former member of the Morphy Chess Club, and Echeques Carre Chess Clubs, I have a fondness for all of Morphy's games, win or lose. Whether he played a quick knockout, or a strategic tactical game, each of his games is a masterpiece.

FWIW in that gambit from the start (the Boden-Kieseritsky, I always knew it as), I always thought after black played ...d6 that N:e5! was the move. Black cannot capture because B:f7+ deflects the king from defence of the queen, and after ...Ke7 to defend it, then Bg5+ and the queen falls. And if ...Be6 to defend the diagonal, then B:e6 f:e6 / Qh5+ mops up. That line is good too though!
Some say the one thing that shocked the Parisians more than the sight of an 8 opponent blindfold Simul, was the fact that the chess player performing this feat was a GoAT...
Morphy: "Feel free to pause the video and win the game for me" Me: "Yeah, sure... aaaaa.... I guess I'll just move something... anything in your games is just crushing" Morphy: "..tf" Agad: "So, for those of you who were able to do it, congratulations on finding the crushing Nxd5" Me: "Nope... he's not talking with me now" Agad: "... and for those of you who just wanna enjoy the show..." Me: " Yeah... that would be me now..."
Whoa. Morphy's games were so brutal and ruthless. Potier's position seemed so dismal after f5 and Bf4. And the tactical possibilities were just endless.
I'm in 2024 and it still blows my mind how someone blindfolded can see all those moves with the constant unpredictable moves and pieces to focus on, he sees all of that in his minds eye blindfolded, bizzare.💀
Actually, after 15 Ng6+ fxg6 white does not win the queen (unless she also wants to lose her own queen) because after 16 Bxd6+ black does not recapture the bishop but plays Kg8 and then if 17 Bxc7 you get hxg3. Point is after Kg8 you play 17 fxg6 and then black can't capture the queen because it's mate in 2 with the rooks.
I was only able to find out that the player was called William Potier.

So it wasn’t the actor Sydney Poitier. 😜

Agadmator is the perfect example of just solid good RUclips content
cant agree more
Morphy’s attacks are mind-boggling.... Then your remember he was blindfolded
and playing 7 other people
It surprised me that he isn't actually blindfolded, just facing away in the other end of the room. Not how I pictured it
Or like when your mind is trapped in a bottle.

@@sol8140 why is that surprising? blindfold chess just means they cant see the board

Daniel Harwitz
Morphy is just an anomaly. Of all the players I've ever watched his talent just stands alone. A nautral if ever there was one.
Morphy's the man! Studying chess is for wimps.
And Capa
“Best move is F6”
Never thought we here that out of Agad’s mouth lol
Morphy: *plays a really good move
Lowental: IT'S SIMPING TIME!!
Lol, not always. He also liked to pretend to find better moves than Morphy. Oftentimes, they were complete blunders 😂
Reverse Stafford Declined?!?
Eric rosen must be so sad right now
Morphy must have been so disgusted with all these breaks his opponents "needed." HE was the sickly one staying up until 4am 😂

ah the boss of the magnificent 8. nobody knows who he is, and our hero takes him down blindfolded
I just want to say thank you for this saga. Paul Morphy has been my idol for playing chess. My favorite book is the chess players about Paul Morphy.
8:12 man when I have a bishop like that it just gets trapped cause I forgot about it, but in Morphy's hands it slices the entire diagonal smh
Morphy went for the Petrov defense before Petrov was even born, what a master
Another case of Morphy crushing his opponent while we are given a couple of seconds.
