I think its because all the elite players are a lot older now and they dont log on everyday like other competitive games. But cs go elo still tries to reward consistency so the player base becomes more profitable
I played a game with my friends last week, we were 4 queueing and our random was 18k. We all dropped 20+ and I think this dude dropped like 7 kills. The whole game he was looking at the floor and dying for free. If I had to guess this dude was probably GN4 at the most in CSGO meanwhile my whole friend group is Global/Faceit 10 players. There needs to be a cap for the ranks that people can can get placed into.
If they just got rid of the cheaters most other problems would seem minimal. Its only getting more rampant as time goes on. First time in years ive stepped away from cs.
I quit because of it. It's just sad that other people don't agree with me i believe more than 40% of the players are cheating and other people have said to me that i'm crazy and i don't know anything. The reason why Valve didn't just allow CSGO to coexist with CS2 was because they wanted to prevent the CS playerbase to split up into two camps. The same thing happened with CZ and with CSGO and CS Source... Says a lot about them. Instead of making CS2 a much more viable choice they instead decided to kill their old game, so everybody was forced to go to CS2...
Your point doesn't really make sense when CSGO itself already has their own merged communities. You have the surfers/bhoppers, skin freaks, pros, and casuals. I think they should've stayed with what they where doing. I love Valve as a gaming corporation because of the choices they make and the amount of amazing gaming titles they've created, It's unheard of for Valve to be a "rushing" Dev team. They're usually known for setting a realistic end date but not a "rushed" end date. CSGO won't die, but I do think Valve made a bad decision. I'm not saying it's easy being a dev and making every good decision but at least you know Valve listens to their communities unlike other gaming corporations.
"Late is just for a little while. Suck is forever." it feels a bit silly that valve comes out with a great documentary about how much effort and time went into half life one, and then they undercook the release of cs2 and end up missing a ton of stuff.
I hope some new update adds whats missing, the only time i played cs:go was in an xbox....i hated it so much that the next time i tried any cs game was in cs2
saying this quote in the context of cs2 is sooo unserious lmfaooo a bumpy launch was inevitable and valve still needs that community wide feedback to improve the game edit: the reason this quote isnt applicable to cs2 is because. the suck is literally not forever. like. they patched some of the suck out already. compare 2012 csgo with 2022 csgo. they got rid of most of the suck. the release version of csgo was wayy waaayy worse than the release version of cs2. not to mention the fact that in the documentary gaben was referring to critical game design for a singleplayer campaign that has a story, not a multiplayer online shooter.
@@alika3651 they could still get the feedback from the game while its in beta, the anticheat would be massively improved if they actually had overwatch, which is how they make sure the anticheat is ""up to date"" no overwatch + a lack of content and a ton of pretty serious bugs has made this game feel unfinished imo
My hope when CS2 was announced was pretty simple. 1. 128 tick across the board 2. All the existing maps ported over 3. That's it. Roll out the game and go from there.
How long will it take? Csgo didn’t get a proper anti-cheat in 10 years. Why would this be any different? On top of that all the constant bugs. I’ll tell you, it will be a long wait.

A small but objective downside of cs2 is also the removal of crosshairs. Csgo had the "default" crosshair (not the green one, but the translucent one), yet its nowhere to be seen in cs2. : ((

4:13 Valve has the money to do so. They are mega rich from milking all of the greedy cosmetics, so they cna please the consumers but choose not to. "Source 2 is a brand new engine" It was released 9 years ago. Albiet, it has still been in development then- and there still is no SDK. Still, Source 2 development has been sluggish and will be eons out of date by the time an SDK becomes available.

You have pretty solid points, the part I think it is so funny to see is how shroud said that, and after that he said he was trolling and people would get the clip and say "look what shroud said". I agree with everything you said, and how people are over reacting over problems that is not a problem itself, personally, I stopped playing CS2 just because I got tired of the game after 15k hours, just other releases got my attention and that is pretty much it for myself. This game probably will be really good around second half of 2024, and it is Valve and CS at the end of the day, if they lose players, they get a bunch new as well, and if they make the game good, people come back, Valve undercooked a lot this game.
I'm glad someone knows that shroud was memeing in the clip you have no idea how many comments I am getting about "using shroud in the intro so my points are invalidated"
Having Valve to utterly replace Counter-Strike: Global Offensive with Counter-Strike 2, is a serious dick move, because 1), it is so painfully inconsiderate towards the creators of Garry's Mod, and 2), it is art destruction, and destruction of art, especially games in general, is plain wrong. It shows just how selfish and out of touch Valve has gotten as a corporation.
The issue with VAC live is that it's trained on rage hacks, spins and aimbots. That automatically lets anybody play with blatant wallhacks and not get punished for it, as the AI isn't trained on legit cheaters, who actively try to hide it in high elo matches. Past 20k elo in premier, there is a cheater in 80% of matches. Watching back demos you can clearly see how blatantly obvious they are, but since the anti-cheat is AI and can't distinguish between a good player and a cheater that just tries to hide it a little bit, they won't get punished for it...
100% agree. I even ran into a 5,000 hour account with an expensive inventory that was being boosted by blatant cheaters in premier. He was friends with the cheater on steam and when I looked back at his leetify he’d played 60+ matches in his last 100 with banned accounts. Check a couple days later and sure enough that cheater account from my match got banned, but not before he and his boosted friend ranked 21,000+ elo. People who cheat or get intentionally boosted by cheats in counter strike must live a sad sad life, I’m so confused by what they even gain. Just a bunch of trolls trying to ruin peoples’ experience and it works. I get that some people are just really good at the game but I’ve played enough cs over the last 15 years to be able to spot a real cheater when I see one. I’ve heard the same sentiment from my friends who are long time cs players. We’re all frustrated by the cheating situation. I’d like to see overwatch return but idk if it’s realistic. Idk much about anti cheat but something needs to give, it hasn’t been this bad since csgo was made free to play
Subtick is trash... If you don't have 10000000 FPS, 10000000000Hz monitor and 0 ping you will lose every game becouse is very connected to everything...
Interesting video, hadn't thought of some of those factors before. Small point on the standalone CS:GO skin transfer concern: doesn't a fix for this already exist? Portal 2 knows your Team Fortress 2 inventory and lets you use certain hats in the co-op multiplayer mode if they are present in your TF2 backpack. Those are also both Valve games obviously. Why couldn't they implement the same thing again? Sure, there could be a little confusion but in the end I don't see why it wouldn't work.
9:57 note: You can't be kicked if you're queued in a team of 4 premades if I remember correctly, they introduced it like over a month ago or something..so that's at least a bit of relief. Correct me if I'm wrong!
You’re right, but you can still get kicked by a 3stack if the random feels like it lmfao. ALSO: I got into a game where I 4 stacked and our random was cheating, so we couldn’t kick him 😭😭
@@theletterkei the simple solution for this is to not allow 4 stack. find a 5th or play with 3. 4 stack 90% of the time just starts bullying me if i solo queue, which is funny because theyre little kids trying to bully a 30 year old man and i just call them some creative insults. but then they generally kick me in the last couple rounds after i carry them to victory. 4 stack always has this result in every 5v5 game, thats why a lot of games dont allow it.

I’m pretty sure you meant to say “legacy_csgo” when talking about still being able to play CS:GO, you said demo_viewer, which are 2 different things)
I really appreciate the kind words! But you're right, I wrote that part of the script when the only way to play CSGO was through the demo viewer version and I forgot to add the disclaimer D:
"New game bad, old game good". This is usually correct unfortunately. Valve does a pretty decent job supporting the lifecycle though. It was a quick rollout
I still have hope. Csgo was terrible at launch, but yeah it's awful right now. I really think that the player base declining is the people that jumped on the CS2 hype. Not the actual player base of csgo. We are still waiting for the fix.
absolutely, I wanted to make it clear at the end that not all my opinions changed from last video. I just wanted this one to be more informative about the issues I didn't cover :)
@@theletterkei Yeah you are really making some good content. I really like your other video too. You are doing good research, and you are not just saying cs is bad. That's what I hate about the cs content these days. Much love dude and keep it up!
The people leaving are the actual player base of CSGO. Most of my friends list stopped playing and when I invite they just say CS2 is bad. They're right. 🤷
The only problem I have with CS2 is that the game freezes in almost every competitive game, usually multiple times per match. I need to kill cs2.exe in task manager and re-enter the match. The support ignores my problem ever since it launched in september 🤣. Since I can't play cs2 properly I've been playing a lot of valorant.
Don't know if this will help with your problem, but it solved mine. I had launch options set on Steam, but that ended up making my game freeze constantly. I removed all launch options and set the game to fullscreen, not windowed. Hasn't frozen since.
Sucks for you, never had that happen to me. Do you have like 15 year old windows install? Did you reinstall and verify integrity of cs2 game files? Tried to install it on a different hard drive?
I only started playing since cs2 only dabbling a little bit in 1.6 and csgo, but so far I love the game, they definitely pulled me in with the follow recoil option.
I think the biggest thing that made me lose some hope is their refusal to allow Faceit to run 128 tick servers. Forcing us to have a worse experience because they're too cheap to pay for servers that Faceit and Riot could somehow afford just fine, despite having significantly more income/player than those companies is embarrassing. Anyone who tried Faceit at that point would tell you it was night and day between 64 tick subtick; profits decided we should have a shit game over them paying moderate amounts of money for servers in a game where they make hundreds of millions.
For me as a casual player the game feels fine. Sure, there is stuff missing from it and you mostly die by being peeked, but when I play competetive with my friends, I feel like I'm actually back in CS:GO, the new lighting system is a bit distracting, but I can live with it. Valve defo should adjust the contrast a bit and reduce the shine of some skins imo. Movement also feels good, if a tiny bit easier than CS:GO. A big problem I have with CS2 is certain people just gobbling on Valve's member, saying the game is "ready" and "much better than CS:GO". Okay bro, if you mean tons of missing content and even more cheaters, then yeah, it is better than CS:GO already lol
you can change your monitor gamma in console to adjust the shiny stuff. i set mine to 3 and now it looks pretty much similar to csgo with some better colors
I will never understand why they overwrote and replaced CSGO, and stole all the reviews. It feels deceptive. I even saw a Cynical Brit recommendation. He's been dead for years.
what annoys me the most is that... they could've just kept CS:GO. they could've made a new steam app. i get it's a really complex situation with enticing people in, making the game more in the present, etc., but if they just did a new steam app like with CS:C0 and CS:S, it would gain the players that wanted Src2, reduce pressure on Valve making a perfect game in a short time, and let current CS:GO players (like me) keep playing the version they love... i don't get it. i think if Valve forces CS2 too much while it's unfinished, then it'll snap and break.
the fact that everything wrong with the game is basically just lack of content and some bugs tells me that CS2 will be just fine within a year. they probably already have plans to introduce content soon, but theyre focus is probably getting the game ready for the upcoming major in march so they game doesnt look like it doesnt belong in the Esports scene
My fav part of the sub tick issue is that it’s also a thing for both valorant and overwatch (for shooting only though), but they actually do it directly through input systems, meaning it’s actually MORE accurate than CS2’s, which only applies updates on render frames. So, like, yeah, subtick “sucks”, but every time a CS player mentions it, you know their ass is probably talking abt something wholly unrelated lmao
I will say cs2 already fixed some of the things hurting people with worse computers. My computer is ok but I have 16 gb ram, and cs2 for awhile was taking up my entire ram and crashing a lot, after the last update my ram stick is no longer struggling so hard. So im glad I dont gotta update yet. Its still more system intensive than csgo though
I have 8gb ram in my old pc and also had a lot of crashing before but not so much now. But I can still only play a few maps because any map with some water on it competely destroys my framerate. Volvo pls.
I don't play counter strike often but I'm glad someone is finally acknowleging the fact that not all of us can afford a super ultra amazing computer. a lot of games nowadays are almost entirely inaccessible to people (myself included) who can't afford to splurge on graphics cards and gaming PCs, and I wish more developers took this into consideration.
Why couldnt they just have released cs2 when it was actually completed? I dont get the rush with releasing a half-baked game. CS:GO was complete and they should have just let us played it until releasing CS2 with all the content
everything in this video is so well said & phrased, im rlyy impressed by the speaking/writing skills that were put into it also valve should watch this

All content they removed... None of it wont be back, especialy Factions like Separatists, IDF or anarchists which were my favourite thing about CSGO. Stupid changes like loudout menu that makes memey weapons a mutually exclusive choice to "good guns" and even if j want to play with silly weapons i would like to keep ability to buy awp or ak to my teammates. CSGO shouldve been left alone with its own matchmaking like all prior cs games. Dumb netcode and movement changes, visuals i dont really like

My main problem with it is that it screws over alot of people with the graphics. CSGO was popular and fun because it was very easy to run on the average computer. Now, my decent pc with a 1050 ti turns into an unconventional industrial oven and it runs cs2 at 10 fps on the most fps-optimised settings. Rest in peace the good 10 dollars I spent on skins.

Makes sense in a community and business perspective
But it's no excuse for Valve to release a half baked game.
why not just add 128 tick no?
@counterstrike2isdead money
I'm not saying it's easy being a dev and making every good decision but at least you know Valve listens to their communities unlike other gaming corporations.

sub tick needed feedback, so it was reasonable. problem is: there's no content and people are cheating because there's no actual punishment for it
I hope some new update adds whats missing, the only time i played cs:go was in an xbox....i hated it so much that the next time i tried any cs game was in cs2
saying this quote in the context of cs2 is sooo unserious lmfaooo a bumpy launch was inevitable and valve still needs that community wide feedback to improve the game
edit: the reason this quote isnt applicable to cs2 is because. the suck is literally not forever. like. they patched some of the suck out already. compare 2012 csgo with 2022 csgo. they got rid of most of the suck. the release version of csgo was wayy waaayy worse than the release version of cs2. not to mention the fact that in the documentary gaben was referring to critical game design for a singleplayer campaign that has a story, not a multiplayer online shooter.

Fantastic rundown, thank you for this 🙏
Subtick is trash...

Okay bro, if you mean tons of missing content and even more cheaters, then yeah, it is better than CS:GO already lol

the downfall of cs2 was the removal of the michael jackson peek
what annoys me the most is that... they could've just kept CS:GO. they could've made a new steam app. i get it's a really complex situation with enticing people in, making the game more in the present, etc., but if they just did a new steam app like with CS:C0 and CS:S, it would gain the players that wanted Src2, reduce pressure on Valve making a perfect game in a short time, and let current CS:GO players (like me) keep playing the version they love... i don't get it. i think if Valve forces CS2 too much while it's unfinished, then it'll snap and break.
Can i have CSGO back please
the fact that everything wrong with the game is basically just lack of content and some bugs tells me that CS2 will be just fine within a year. they probably already have plans to introduce content soon, but theyre focus is probably getting the game ready for the upcoming major in march so they game doesnt look like it doesnt belong in the Esports scene
