    In my opinion this device is not for everyday use nor it replaces your car alarm/gps/killswitch etc. I got one of these pedal locks and i only use it when i have to park on open space parking spots outside of garage or when i leave my vehicle on an unattended parking.

    • @reaperasylum2163
      @reaperasylum2163 4 года назад +14

      Most cars today still don't come with alarms, and today's keyless cars all the thief needs is to get close enough to you to scan the code when you use the key fob, boom he can make a duplicate in 5 minutes and you'll never see the car again. Same goes for transponder keys 10 minutes and done. The best and safest way to stop theft is to disable the car, pull the fuel and ignition relays every time you leave and you will never have to worry about someone stealing it. I've done it that way and never had my vehicles stolen.
      Sure it's a pain but 5 minutes of time removing a couple relays vs hours dealing with cops that do nothing and countless phone calls to the insurance rep over a stolen vehicle, come on weigh the odds, not ever vehicle has an alarm and the ones that do can easily be disabled but no thief will carry a pocket full of relays for each specific car on the road.

  • @lolliz100
    @lolliz100 5 лет назад +10

    The reason why locks are better than GPS is that if it's a really really solid and dependable locking mechanism... The thief cannot leave with the car in the first place. All they can do in anger is to damage the car or steal parts or stuff from it if they cannot go with it. GPS though... U may get back your vehicle... But the fact still remains that they got to GO with your vehicle. While driving away with the vehicle they can steal the same stuff and further crash or damage the car before it is found... IF it is recovered In the first place. GPS is excellent of course, but the fact that they still got to steal the car is the problem. I want the attempt to steal it the vehicle to be failed from the start. Additionally, where this lock is concerned...cant a person with enough force just kick the entire mechanism out of place from under the brake?? Probably? When I hear pedal lock... I think of a mechanism that holds the bake and gas pedal together. So mashing the gas pedal means the brake will be mashing at the same time... So can't go a place. Just my immediate thoughts on the whole matter.

    Hi all, after reading all the positive comments I'm sorry to throw a spanner in the works but I'm only sharing my experience to help you guys out there.
    So basically I had one of these locks on my ford transit and a bar steering lock but unfortunately and to my surprise the thieves just took seconds to remove both and only spent a bit of time getting the vehicle to start without the key by plugging some device in the osb port.
    It's possible they have skeleton keys and I mean a whole bunch of them so I would not recommend this lock but I would invest in a complete steering lock and a pedal box with a key lock that can not be replicated.
    Good luck all I hope this helps.

    50 50 chance this will work on keyless cars, keyless thief seem to focus on the device to unlock car and drive off with minimal tools in hand. This is be a surprise to them if they get in car and start it up then realise. Damn what the hell is that.....
    Best to focus on front door with some anti theft lock barrels. If your cars in drive.

    • @bstract_w5
      @bstract_w5 2 года назад +1

      Keyless ignition cars needs the brake to be pressed to even start.

    • @HR-wd6cw
      @HR-wd6cw 2 года назад

      @@bstract_w5 Since everything is electrnic, there are ways around this (for example, there is a switch in the brake pedal to tell the car the pedal is pressed). A better idea is this and remove a bunch fo breakers from the fuse box (then the theif would have to get new breakers to steel the car... makes it more difficult). I do this every time (remove a handful of breakers) when I park my car at the airport. So far after 3 years, no theft, nothing. But you have to remove ones that would disable the car (like ones for electric steering, fuel pump, starter). You take a picture with them in place, and then just make a note of where they go. Takes me less than 30 seconds to remove and install them.

    • @HR-wd6cw
      @HR-wd6cw 2 года назад

      Yes, modern day car theft is based on vulnerabilities of the keyless system (remote start, smart keys, keyless entry). This is why I removed the battery from my Smart Key and put it in a faraday box. It doesn't transmit the signal (I even had a spare door key made which I use instead of the buttons on the key). This way the only way you can start the car is to hold the key 1 inch from the ignition, but the key doesn't transmit the signal. The car is still looking for the key, but this part is harder to circumvent than the key fob transmitting as it's not looking for a specific key, but rather a response from the key and when Toyota keys are held close to the ignition switch (within 1-2 inches) they are activated by something simimlar to wireless charging that activates in the key (even with the battery removed) that verifies the key. But the key has to be 1-2 inches from the ignition. So this is perhaps the safest and easiest way I've found to combat theft, that and remove breakers from the under-hood fuse panel for key components (like starter, electric steering, etc) if the car is gong to be sitting for a few days or more or is in sketchy areas like airport parking lots.

Mommy and daddy’s money will bail them out every time until a judges can’t be bought. Or 2 they get cought by the right kind of owner in the right state and they die from a defensive shot to the body. I’m bitter about this subject for the same reason I’m betting your friend is.
