I am so happy you are back on youtube doing videos. I am myself in the midst of painful transition to barefoot running and your videos really are motivating ;) It really gives me a kick to see somebody who had problems running rocking hundreds of miles in V-Runs. Keep up the good work!! (I did not really run before because it was too painful due to issues with my patella in running shoes).

@@kalclashfitness, that was, I believe, my first ever comment on youtube but I reckon I am just one of many "V-runners" inspired by you. I had to stop wearing normal shoes all together in trying to fix my presumably poor bio-mechanic, I even play tennis in KSO Evo's now and it is amazing (same black-red ones as you wear in the video);) Currently, I am doing 5k three times a week with all kinds of stretches and workouts to fix the knee pain that always creeps in.

I bought my first pair of Vibram Five Fingers just last night... Black/Blue V-Run. I had been reading up on bare foot running. I tried out the technique from your videos around my house, and my watch said that I ran the equivalent of 5 mil of steps without stopping or getting out of breath... Holy Shit! I've never done that in my life. And I couldve gone more but it was time to put the kids to bed. I did have pain in my feet and legs but didn't panic, because I learned about DOMS. I can't wait until my V-Run's come in so I can start running. I want to work up to trail running. I'll save up for a pair trek or alphas next.
Thanks alot for the very informative, short form Vids to learn about this 👍 😀

I did a duathlon in them, super fast in transition just slip them on like slippers. Then the next day did a 10k canicross trail run and won the event.Highly recommend them plus I got them for under 29 pounds

What do you think of Xero shoes? I’ve just started looking into barefoot running, and I’ve watched a few of your videos now, and I’m close to buying VFFs because of your raving reviews.
I just thought I’d ask because you mentioned in this video that you get 300-400 miles in the V-Runs. Xero has a 5,000 mile warranty on their shoes, and some of them are thinner than the Five Fingers. I’d love your input if you have some. Thanks! Love the videos!

Fantastic shoes, but if you've got wide feet they are not the best. In the same size they are almost a full "toe" narrower than the KSO classic and spyridon. Brilliant shoe for narrow/medium feet, but if you've got proper wide ones you might want to look at the KSO classic. Great review!

I've three pair of bikilas. Unfortunately the sizing in the v-run was nothing like my bikilas, so I had to return them. I wish I could find a store to try them on instead of ordering. The website says to order a size smaller but based on my notes I ordered larger and they were still too narrow but also too long.

    Hi Steve.
2017 i started to do powerwalkes with normal running shoes.
After a while a started to run 10km.
And I felt my knees almost directly.
But I didn't want to stop running.
Today I use Hoka one one Bondi 5.
    I run 10 km 5/a week.
Still feel my knees but nothing like when I used normal shoes.
But the Bondis are heavy and the thought of using shoes as light as Vibram is something that maybe could improve my running.
But I am a older guy 62 years and I have to take care of my knees.
What's your thoughts on this Steve?

    @ Kalclash Fitness V
Question for you mate. I'm a window fitter in the UK and am sick of steel toed boots wrecking my feet. I've spent a year in vivo barefoot 3mm soled shoes but need a bit more padding. I bought some Vibram trek ascent insulated over winter and they were great BUT... they have a lot of extra padding under the ball of the foot and they seem to have toe spring. When I'm lugging around tools and materials my toes are trying to press into the ground and straining my big toe especially around the padding. Would the v-runs be be suitable for this sort of thing?
    Cheers

My only gripe with the v-run is that if you run in circles they annoy my big toe. It's the split between the upper and lower that if I had gone any further would have resulted in a blister.
OK, should probably run in circles less or to be more specific stop amusing myself by only turning left but I was delivering election leaflets door to door.
Prefer a good fitting El-X, which can require a few pairs to try on, but not a rough surface at all.

I would also not be a runner if the V-Run didn't exist. They're the only shoes that make running enjoyable. I've always run a lot in every sport, but the sport distracted me from the discomfort of running. However, with the V-Run, striking with the very forefoot and gently absorbing the impact of every strike, feels wonderful. I feel like I work my calves more during the landing phase than during takeoff.
However, I would like them to fix some issues that have been there since the begginning:
-There is literally a FLAP of insole sticking out, in the middle of each toe pocket. That is what causes blisters to everyone under the middle section of the toes, because when you curl them in, they rub against that flap.
-The heel STRAP attachment area does cause itchiness and dry skin around the Achilles tendon.
-The sole needs to cover the exterior SIDE of the foot too, in the landing spot of the foot strike, which is around the pinky toe's footpad; since the foot is actually bent inwards upon initial contact, so it is painful to land onto the edge of the sole.
-Make a colour scheme for the V-Run that does not make people cringe.
Thanks Vibram for finally reducing the price to 100 after so many years of being at 140.

I have a pair of bikila lace version.... in my opinion it's terrible because of the insole it slips a lot, and the upper material is also terrible... doesn't embrace well and don't have any ventilation system.
I'm not sure about the v-run
But I think that when u are too used to elx it's difficult to go to another one.
So I sticked to my el-x again....

Is there such a thing as shoe fam? If so, we're it. I wore my KSO-evo's out and bought some v-runs after watching your OLD video about them. I love them dearly, and wear them every time I go out to cover some distance. However, I just ordered a second pair of KSO-evo's (this time in a more desirable color combination lol) and those are the greatest shoes in the whole of human history, or feet even, for that matter. I want stock in the company. I want these for my dog. I want to name my next child "EVO". Okay, maybe I'm exaggerating. But I did put that cool little Vibram sticker on my water bottle :P Cheers from Memphis, U.S

Yeah well, I have run something like 2500 km with my pair of v-runs. I used to like kso evo, but usually hole appears to inside egde of big toe, and then they are not anymore "keep stuff out".. Not so far with v-runs. There's some wear at soles, they are not watertight anymore, but still keep stuff out. There's also quite bit of wear at inner side of the sole, so I probably need to get new pair to wear comfortably at summer without socks.. I keep laces pretty loose, so outsole get's probably just half of the wear.. And I also run barefoot, so my running technique can't depend too much on grip of sole, because such would tear my skin apart.
With injinjis I have been able to run with them at something like -15 celsius degrees. V-runs grip is bit lousy at ice though, v-trails are better for such conditions.

The Gortex would increase the wear and tear of the gloves surface, makes a nice scratching sound :D
Plus side is people who run on trails in jungle like areas in Surrey like myself won't come back with soaked shoes and socks.

    • @Pwasercan
      @Pwasercan 5 лет назад +1

I have tried a few sandals, but they are nothing like the V-Run; if I make the strings tight, they dig into my skin and leave horrible marks, and if they're on the right tension for pain, then there is so much slipping because the strings are not tight enough, and that causes too much friction ->heat -> blisters. Also, I trip a lot with sandals, because the front part bends downwards if I don't lift my foot enough with each step. Also, the string digs in between my toes, which is painful, or if I use another lacing system it still digs into somewhere else, especially around the top of the instep; I find it very painful when there is pressure there; but I can run with my V-Run on the loosest setting possible, and the shoes don't fall off nor slide (only a little bit at full sprint; but I can tighten them for the sprint, and then loosen them again).
