Number 6, Shawn "Clown" Crahan wanted this song to be the last track in the album because he wanted the line "I haven't smiled in years!" to be the last thing people heard from the album. Great reaction btw
well if this is true than it is super cool
Corey back at it with the double, triple, quadruple meanings in the lyrics.
Dutch van der Linde everyone can interpret a song personally different from everyone from others experiences
Dutch van der Linde Well if it’s so obviously clear explanation please????
Dutch van der Linde Everyone interpretes lyrics differently so the Heretic Anthem must be about them being satanists? No but reading the lyrics would easily lead you to that conclusion! Tool Stinkfist must be about Sodomy? It’s not but the lyrics could lead you to that conclusion. So stop with your sanctimonious sarcasm and realize not everyone sees the same thing you do!!
@Dutch van der Linde Corey also wrote the lyrics to be artistic and art is subjective, you pompous fuck...
@@brandodasavage5538 you can start namecalling and being an asshole.
But half of the comment section says its about his divorce and ex wife
Some say they heard Corey talking about the subject in interviews so Dutch probably right.
Better calm down.
And one other thing.
Opinions do not have any influence on facts.
Gotta love Weinbergs drumming skills! Dude is a beast. Corey Taylor always raises the bar. Love it!
Love Jay
Its sound like he gave everything he had in this song, some vocals in this song are iowa vocals imo
Him quitting smoking a while ago helped out a ton.
Everyone saying iowa vocal will never comeback, but production and obviously anger and the young alcoholic Corey did his most remarkable vocals back in 2001, but right now hes too similiar, like you said he gave us everything in this song. Corey is an absolutely beast. Hope i can see them in november in Lima
Its the best hes sounded in a long time
His vocals are actually SO much stronger & healthier than they were on Iowa. Iowa was a drug & alcohol fueled rage that gave it that heaviness and while I love Iowa I'm thrilled they're in a healthier place. If they had kept going with the Iowa era Corey was headed for an overdose or suicide and while he considers himself replaceable, his vocals just can't be.
T1 Ag supposedly this upcoming album is going to be iowa-y according to slipknot themselves
This drummer is very AWESOME🔥
Jay
I honestly like jay as much as Joey.
JAY FUCKING WEINBERG
About time someone says it I fucking love Jay and I absolutely think his mask and Jim roots are the best
Glad to see someone can compliment Jay without badmouthing Joey
Some of the best Slipknot I've heard in a long time. I'll have to pick this one up.
Oh fuck ya! Iowa is back
It's a fucking badass song, I just hope it's not a bait and switch, and that this isn't the heaviest song on the album, just trying to lure us in, and the rest are kinda soft.
@@mrbobert6312 To an extent. Unsainted does have that hard beat drop though
I'm personally digging how Jay is performing on the album definitely super talented
Everyone has been saying he sounds like a beast on this song, and I have to agree. He's working his ass off.
Thank you so much for appreciating jay
This song alone is iowa level intense. The most powerful song of the year
Weinberg on those drums 🖒🖒🖒
Hes amazing
Holy shit I'm seeing them in three days and this song JUST MADE ME TEN TIMES AS HYPED
Enjoy man
Thank you!! I really appreciate your take on this song. I don't normally hang with something that heavy, but the lyrics have me hooked. I've suffered from depression for almost 30 years, and I can relate to his rage. Unless I put on that "fake smile" I was nothing but a freak to those who didn't know what depression and addiction was. I only wanted to be treated like a normal guy, just like Corey Taylor rages about during this genius of a song. Depression knows depression, and Corey has struggled just as I have.
It's been a while since I've commented on your videos, but I had to this time. I'm an atheist, and I agree with practically everything you said. Unity! One love!
And much love out to y'all
Thank you ❤
Edit: I only mentioned that I'm an atheist because we briefly spoke back when your channel specified y'all are Christians. I love everyone regardless, and y'all are some special people.
Same dude, for me its anxiety mostly, fukin sucks, we are here for you
This song is so badass. Sori is an angel and vin is a teddy bear
What the fuck. Both are angels.
Soundtrack of the new series "THE BOYS" !
Mickael Lagarde it’s not out yet. Comes out on the 26th so a couple more days to wait
Bruh, I've binged it in one sitting. It was fucking amazing.
I remember reading an article a while back where Corey said he was going to be writing a lot about his depression that he went through on this album.
HEAVY song with amazing lyrics. I can’t wait to hear the rest of the album!
Epic song epic review 10/10
The line with the smile, is how everyone smiling in the photos, but if you are ghost, trapped and betrayed, you didn't smiled for years. You want vengeance, but you won't tell your story, but you will appear somehow.
Corey is a lyrical genius. A wordsmith
It's not just Corey. Corey doesnt contribute the most to the lyrics
Some of the lyrics i feel are towards Corey's ex wife hes engaged now but he went through dark times with that divorce
my guess is that it's about the life of a murderer
The whole album is gonna be about his ex wife and their relationships. He’s said that multiple times
@@solusmusic80 can u send me the link where he says that
hapizzz hentahla just watch interviews talking about the new album and he’ll say it
Why would you make an album about your x-fucking wife?
I’m pretty sure that this song is about his second ex wife, Taylor divorced her around 2016/17, and spiralled into a really bad depression
(I’m taking that from interviews from him). Thankfully he’s met Alicia Dove, who seems AMAZING and everyone is hopefully back on track.
Also I think I remember on Alicia’s twitter page her talking about Solway Firth(meaning the lyrics were written and demoed, maybe even mastered)before the whole lawsuit, so that could be a pointer too.
Still, I could always be wrong.
Maybe
Damn, there's is some powerful and somewhat poignant lyrics in both new songs so far. Both for them and us. All wrapped up in crazy drums, lyrics and vocals! Bring on the rest of the album!
Nice reaction! This is the best song out of the three songs IMO. Jay did an amazing job btw !!!
3? You mean two?
Paranormal Bacon all out life, unsainted and Solway Firth
"While I was learning to live, we all were living a lie" I really like this line. My interpretation is most likely completely different from what Corey meant by it, but i like to think of it this way: Most people are fakes and are not honest, they go with the flow. They don't show themselves for what they are but for what they pretend to be. ( living a lie) While some people are actually trying to find their true purpose in life. They are not conformists and don't follow the crowd. (They learn to live). But they are not compatible with today's society. In order to live you have to live the lie.
I got so excited after I heard this cause I knew you guys would have a great dissect.
I absolutley love it everything about it its fast heavy as fuck and energetic this is the best Corey has sounded in years he's getting that guttural yell back Jay is killing it on the drums Jim and Mick crushing it with those riffs but Corey said this album was gonna have really personal lyrics regarding him hes right so far
“Today upon a hill, I’m counting all the killers” Removed, I’m observing all of the violence/violent among us.
“They sway as they swarm, the look of gluttons in their eyes, they mutter as the body loses warmth.” People move as if intoxicated (sway) as they gather (swarm) to watch vicarious brutally via media (look of gluttons in their eyes). They mumble unimportant things (mutter) as victims’ bodies cool after death.
“They pick your bones like locks inside a tomb” They comb through your life to suck the juicy details like a vampiric graverobber. “And take great care to not take care of you”. People go through great effort to be callous and apathetic towards the pain of others.
“Here’s an unexplainable one” You can’t understand this.
“While I was learning to live, we all were living a lie” As I learned to live with my depression, everyone learned to put on a mask to hide their pain and true self.
“I guess you got what you wanted. So I will settle for a slaughterhouse soaked in blood and betrayal.” I’ll take the ugly, gory truth over the lie you’ve accepted.
“It’s always somebody else; that someone else was me.” It’s easy to discount the pain of other people as long as it’s “somebody else”, but I WAS that somebody else.
“You want the real smile, or the one I used to practice not to feel like a failure?” You want the genuine face or the BS face I used to wear so no one would know that I “failed” at life by being sad and depressed?
TBC...
Holy shit I didnt think they were gonna be that heavy again
I kind of expected this. But now i'm 100% this is going to be BADASS record. Heavy shit is coming
Listen to the gray chapter. That record makes Iowa look like Imagine Dragons
@@alfredgarcia6844 it does?
Gregory Dupree Yup
Alfred Garcia yikes, Iowa makes gray chapter look like the Barney the dinosaur intro. Unless this is a sarcastic joke therefore I’m a dumbass
I really love how prominent Shawn's keg bashing is with the new album, hearing those dings just adds so much more to an already great sound.
They played this song for the first time ever when I saw them they are a great live band. I'm only 11 so it was really cool Me my, brother, and my dad pushed each other around and started a mosh pit.
Just finished the boys on Amazon prime... Fucking awesome can't wait for more!!!!!
The Solway Firth is where the river meets the sea in south-west Scotland. It's near where I grew up.
The song is about depression mostly heres an unexplainable one is how you cant describe depression. I just want to feel like anyother man is exactly how it sounds. Because you dont feel like a normal person with depression
5:36 Sori's reaction is priceless ❤🤘
The Solway Firth is a firth that forms part of the border between England and Scotland. It stretches from St Bees Head, just south of Whitehaven in Cumbria, to the Mull of Galloway, on the western end of Dumfries and Galloway. Why is this song called Solway Firth???
Omg, sori's hair looks amazing
the video has clips from the amazon series the boys which is about superheroes
the song has to do with what the characters are going through in the boys show
Best metal reaction channel!
Could've sworn you reacted to this yesterday, legit like I've definitely seen this video before, I remember Vin pointed out the Irish accent at the start too. Am I crazy?
BRO 9:40 WTF THIS IS WEIRRRD
Got copyrighted so they reuploaded it
@@hayeeesheaaa7222 LOL alright I knew I wasn't crazy thanks for clarifying 👌
I actually think it's of my fav and best SlipKnoT songs. Anyone else agree? #SlipKnoT4lyfe 🤘🤘🔥🔥
I think that the reason for the title being Solway Firth referring to the photo of something that isn’t supposed to be there is Corey expressing regret of creating memories with someone and putting so much into his relationship with this person only for it to disintegrate and feeling emotionally drained with the futility of all effort he put in.
I watched it yesterday, i liked. And i like it again now.
This song is about his depression he is dealing with and how everyone treats him because of it
8:00 - the other photo's from his camera show his other daughter or wife is there with him and this daughter, it was simply his other daughter or wife facing away from them - once you see the other photo's, you can clearly see it was just the angle and incidental timing that makes it seem like a 'spaceman'. *Occam's Razor* - Either this or the simple fact that it is probably just a double exposure, as you can easily see in the photo that the cloudline to the left and right of the 'spaceman' goes right in front of the girl's fringe, looks like reflection of the sun's rays off her fringe, but when seen in high contrast and inverted you can CLEARLY see that it is in fact just a double exposure and that 'reflection' is actually the clouds from the other image that contains the clouds and the 'spaceman' superimposed upon this girl's photo. Bad low rez picture, but here is an example of being able to clearly see the clouds going in FRONT of her face, it is just a double exposure! lol ----->> ibb.co/59zVYJr
Defensive Wounds regardless, for the time period where it was taken that was probably unheard of, pretty scary for them. And a creepy image anyway
can't wait to hear this at the lincoln and kansas city shows, gotta get a bottle of their whiskey too
> *song ends*
> Sori: "wow"
Nailed it!
damn. this song is pure emotion
I love it when slip goes this heavy
Yo that light is dope AF!!!
Corey is extremely intelligent , people tend to go into this deep meaning of every verse. I mean he’s putting it out there. I guess it’s the way he says it and some people just can’t comprehend it on that level.
I haven;'t smile in year ..shit is real ddude
Cool to see yall back man! Haha. Shhtuff happens.. The 🐐's are back... Woahh
Whoa! Deja Vu! Let’s Go!
the part with the grave and bones the lyrics this part is the way slipknot honors the memory of rip paul gray
Actually they had an entire album for that. .5: the gray chapter, you might have heard of it?
I think the killers and bones are allegorys.
The beginning had a Gordon Lightfoot "Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald" feel to it.
Furthermore sounds like/from what I've heard is about primarily his marriage with his ex wife because I was at knotfest 2016 which was right around the time they broke up. Basically it was the first show where I didn't see (Stephanie) his ex-wife and it was brutal. It was the live performance of Iowa and corey still had a broken neck healing from a surgery thus why he was wearing a neck brace but he still went above and beyond, headbanged and screamed until he lost his voice and threw up all over the stage, it was awesome and raw emotion like this song.
Rock & Roll Queen - I’m still 666 (feat. Cameronazi & LVL9) - new song for reaction!
GOOSEBUMPS!!
Hey Vin and Sori, just saw you guys last night on the jumbo tron at Xfinity Center Knotfest show. Holy shit how much did those seats cost lol. Also I didn't realize you guys are from Maine like me, Small world. Great video as always, please keep them coming.
Solway firth is a place, the photo you mentioned was taken there
Definitely most of this album is Taylor talking of his depression and his divorce
Apocalyptica - I’m Not Jesus (ft. Corey Taylor)
Great song
i dedicate this song to my ex. I was with her for 10 years just for her to use me and my family up...she starts treating me like shit when she went back to her family after being with mine for 10 years and I went with her to hers...I caught her cheating on me when we went to her family which was in a far away different state than mine through her cell phone and she broke up with me for finding out and said it is my fault for us breaking up for not minding my business and finding out about her bullshit so she tells me that everything she told me was a lie and that she only acted like that so I didn't kick her out while she was away from her family which I would not have done because im not a pile of shit like her. so naturally they kicked me out immediately and I was forced to move across America so many states away because I had no where to go there so I am now stuck in Oklahoma alone and destroyed by the fact that she pretty much was nothing but a lie that wasted ten years of my life and the fact that I could not take my dog with me to Oklahoma by plane...I had my dog for 17 years since I was a kid and she fucking killed my dog after I left. so now I am sad alone and betrayed...never saw it coming and it hit me like a truck... look at me in my picture and know that she is a 220 pound fat pile of shit that I gave a chance because I don't care about looks all that is important to me is if someone is beautiful on the inside everyone said to me they have no idea what I see in her and that I was out of her league I always told them off for saying those things and would defender her from judgmental people right infront of her face and she still betrayed me after I stopped her from being raped and murdered by like 12 guys that were coming down the street one night as we were walking in the streets because it was nice out we heard them talking about jumping us and shit so I got infront of her between them and pulled out a knife and they just walked by because I guess they didn't feel like dyeing for it...she says I was lucky to have her...how funny yeah I turned down super models at the time I met her because I feel like they may have been like she turned out to be..toxic people you know turns out she was the toxic one who would have known.
She's a sociopath you're better off
Power Trip - Divine Apprehension
Power Trip - Hornet’s Nest
Power Trip - Crucifixation
I personally read into the song being about toxic family who think you are the problem putting you down and then being surprised when you snap which if you listen to Iowa is a big theme of Corey's music.
It's about his relationship with his ex wife. The whole album is about relationships.
The song is mostly about depression but there is also a secondary meaning obviously solaway thirth has a meaning to it the Irish singing is in there in the beginning and also the meaning of the girl in the photo graph is in there but these are influences but the song is all about depression
I just noticed you guys are wearing V-Moda headphones, just like I am while watching this video lol. I also have a pair of Audio Technica ATH-m50x headphones. Both are amazing.
4:57 jay smashing skills like in every second of the song.. damn, corey is again a fucking demon in vocals
THIS JUST CLICKED FOR ME: The song is about Corey's divorce and his wife is the girl in mysterious Solway Firth Spaceman photo. The unexplainable one is the situation hes in post divorce, but its also a nod to the mysterious photo. The rest of the lyrics are pretty much self explanatory through that context.
A third “what have you done” with the deeper growl at the end would of sounded SICK !!!
HERE’S AN UNEXPLAINABLE ONE
Dont try to interpret the lyrics. Dont pick their bones. We know nothing. Just enjoy this powerful song. I believe they gave their souls to create this masterpiece.
I can't help but feel like it's about Corey's ex wife
Good Lord, Sori has such shapely hands
definatly my fav slipknot song, it just makes me angry and gets rid of my anger at the same time
I was waiting for this
Even though they made amends, i think part of it had to do with Chris Fehn. The line “ I hope you got what you wanted”. Seems like it speaks out to their suit ( not sure how that ended)
just saw at 8;22 the lights on the table behind Vin and Sori go out???
IT'S SLIPKNOT THAT'S ALL,EACH MEMBER HAS TALENT LET'S GET READY MAGGOTS HERE WE GO
I haven't gone through all reaction videos ya'll have done, but if you haven't checked out THE SHAPE, I highly recommend it.
I love this track, like Slipknot writing a Devildriver song and I can't hate that.
The Spaceman of Solway Firth
beautiful
Iron Maiden-Phantom of the Opera (live at the Rainbow 1981 or live at Gotherburg 2005)
Nice video, nice song 👍👍 i like her react on 5.37 scream
Every video.. Sori, "I think it's about a relationship.." lol
Good video . Thanks for making it
Therapy? - a moment of clarity
the begining of the song sounds like the humbling river by puscifer. its amazing
It's a Gaelic war chant at the start of the song the song is bout his ex wife an his divorce
Slipknot rocks there is no denying it!!
Solway firth is a firth that forms a border between England and Scotland. Not sure if it has any means t to Corey or the rest of the band.
I think because he let go of what happened to him as a child he can finally let of his emotions that he had bundled up and he can finally be him he can go and let out all the stuff this song definitely has rage and sadness and hatred and greef i listed to this song 16 times he is pissed off and sad and the lyrics are pretty strong and pretty insane so yes he is letting his torment of years of keeping what happened a secret and now its out
Damn riffs n drums n his voice damn watch out bitches slipnots back
Jay is definitely growing on me. I seriously feel like slipknot needs Ross Robinson to kick their ass like this! The father and master of this genre!
i would kill fir an audio format in podcast form so i could listen at work lol
Probably if I was still a teenager I would be totally into this no dis.
Why do you need to be a teenager to be into this?
@@loganedom8701 Hmmmm well i appreciate the musicianship and all but maybe because I'm too old to bother listening to someone else screaming about their own problems. I got shit of own dude and I need to chill as much as I can lol.
@@saudalterkait I understand completely but why bother even watching this video then? This channel is pretty much a strictly metal channel. And going by what you said you dont exactly care for metal anymore.
@@loganedom8701 That's a weird question. Why can't anyone anywhere watch whatever pops on youtube and comments on it? If it makes you happy; first of all this channel reviews all kinds of rock music which includes prog and experimental which are my cup of tea. Now I would argue that not all heavy music (including metal) is about self struggle and anger. Take Tool for example, they have hard songs that may have silly, funny but mostly insightful lyrics. Lastly, its a slipknot song. There's history here so i gotta take a listen. Have a good one bro.
@@saudalterkait man you can do whatever the hell you want to do I was just curious is all.
Lmao sori debunks solway spaceman instantly 🤣🤣🤣
Check Gone with The Wind by Architects, but before you listen to it you have to read in what happened to Tom, I don't think there's a more heavy and emotionally moving song in the whole Metalcore "Djent" scene. I'm telling you guys you'll love it
Slight Scottish/Irish.. The tomb line could be either media or relating to soldiers
Que pasada
Slipknot 👍
I lov you guys
Man u 2 are adorable subscribed
Solders/media both know how to "hide" stuff. I might be wrong but it could be taking it the wrong way... But it's at least a double... Aftermath of being a warrior
