I too prefer the long bed pickups over the short beds. The most ideal restoration of trucks in my opinion is to put them back the way they looked like out of the factory. They were meant to serve a purpose of working or just cruising you buddies and should stay that way. Keep the original hubcaps and put thin whitewall tires on it. It'll look AWESOME. ^^
If im about to spend my hard earned money on a truck, then it better haul the absolute most that it can. And im sorry but a short box doesnt cut it for me. I like having a tool box, and if you put one in a short bed, then your not going to have real bed space left. Now When it comes to quad cab trucks, im the opposite, id rather have the sporttrac or crew cab s10 with the short bed. Half truck, half car, but 100% what i want! lol
The doors closing sounds better on that old truck than some new ones! Custom 100, means the cheapest version you could get. But still pretty damn rugged. Hope it gets a new life!
First of all, nice job on the video---you took your time and really showed everything in detail. Secondly, if you can get it to start, I'd say buy it, it's a pretty nice truck. Those Slant Six engines run forever, it's easy to work on, and parts are dirt cheap.
I wanted you guys to get a good look at how nice (i thought atleast) this truck really is. So thanks for that! And If i had the money right now, I would snatch it up in a heartbeat. But my pockets are running empty as it is !
For the condition it's in I'd say it was originally a custom camper model with the motorhome body hanging off the back of it. Looks to have had an easy life.
Im hoping to atleast make it run again, that way it has a better chance of the new owner fixing up the slant 6 rather then dropping a 318 in it.. Id hate to see it make it this far in life only to be hacked up for a small block swap now....
I'm 65 Y.O. and have had many Dodge trucks since my first at 18. It was A 1963 D150 With A 318/4 speed manual. Had several slant 6 vehicles also and might be one of the few to throw A rod in one. That was A 1964 Plymouth Belvedere. My last Dodge truck I sold to A mud truck builder 4 year's ago. A 1979 D150 Power Wagon. That was my Plow truck. Hit A curb and the frame broke. That's Minnesota salt for you! If I was closer I would sure check it out. Hope it sold by now.
Jay, did this truck get rescued? I sure hope it did. I'd love to have it if I didn't have my 1988 F250 project. Johnathan W who has a RUclips channel also in North Carolina would be all over that truck, or Dylan McCool's channel in Tennessee.
Change that put on new stuff in there. But on this stuff in there, all new all new and plus a new c. T or get that seat meopholster and have him do it up, take that cab. Yeah, take a cam, haven't seen him, haven't.
Grandpas farm truck even has cobwebs. Be nice if it could keep the slant six and be used again. I would love to spend some time getting it running and cleaning it up, hopefully she does not get a hack job sweet truck. I do not know if she would go 12 hours on a boat tank, but if I had a chance I would drive down and trailer her home. Just noticed this is 2 years old.
That's a really nice, original survivor truck. It must have looked really nice back in the day in the factory metallic silver/grey. That should be a really simple recommissioning project for someone and being the less popular long bed I suspect a lot of the long bed specific parts are going to be a lot easier to find for a sensible price in junk yards and similar places. I would hope whoever takes that one on will keep it as standard as it is now but I rather suspect it will end up with a V8 and auto transmission like so many others have...
Who knows where it will end up. But for now were going to try and get it running and MAYBE yard driving if thats possible. That way hopefully whoever ends up with it will see the awesome potential the slant 6 / 3 on the tree has for a nice easy to work on daily. But your right, these trucks dont surface very often in this good of shape.
+Jay Smart I've got a feeling that that should not be too hard, though I understand that the electronic ignition units are pretty fragile. Being as it has sparked on starter fluid it certainly sounds like everything is healthy there though. As long as the clutch hasn't stuck while it was sat and there wasn't a mechanical problem that caused it to get sat up I reckon you'll have it running a driving, if not necessarily stopping, pretty quickly when the weather is decent. It might even still have brakes...
The red truck take to That's a good truck. I would take the answer up. Get a nice new frame for a both of them for both of them. Drop a nice new have a nice mohamed first one that ran Have a nice engine to add rich rock a ray truck. There's a nice wheels but a nice frame. When that 1 hundred, get the whole truck, go to nice new frame for L. A d's is nice next
If i had the money to purchase and invest into another project i would. But my pockets are getting empty as it is . We will atleast try to get it running., But thats about as far as i can go with it right now.
I had one of these! Mine a 1973. 1st. Dodge truck/ Mopar 1988..And I have loved them Ever since. January 5th 2020.. Better than ANY Ford truck that I have ever had.. I have a Dodge truck today rite now A 1997 V6 5 speed long box standard cab No Rust and 23500 original miles..Dodge trucks are BETTER than Fords ANYDAY!!
My friend has one of these in a really shity green his was a v8, it came up as a dodge avenger on the insurance for some reason. It was still driving it but he sold it because parts were hard to find
passenger door seems shot to me. As the weather stripping fails, water gets inside n rusts everything. Looks like that's why you couldn't roll window down.
With the insane gas prices this might be scooped up to roam the streets again, thriftmaster 6 ( all 110 h p of it) still should be capable of at least 17-22 mpg
This truck deserves to be rescued.
Yes it does
Slant six engines are INDESTRUCTABLE! That truck probably has plenty of life left in it with some TLC>
I'd love to see an old/cold start of this Dodge!
We will be attemping a startup this coming week, (weather permitting )
Jay Smart same
Good old truck. That 225 slant six is the best 6 cylinder they ever made they run forever. I had many of them.
I just picked one up over the weekend too.
Awesome trucks!!
Enjoy
That leaning tower of power will probably fire right up.

Jay Smart for
I know this is an old video but I was just wondering did this old dodge ever get saved
Good truck new frame engine
In my opinion, its worth restoring or saving. They dont make trucks like these anymore. A true diamond in the ruff
The doors closing sounds better on that old truck than some new ones! Custom 100, means the cheapest version you could get. But still pretty damn rugged. Hope it gets a new life!
Nice and simple love the three in the tree.
I'm an old Mopar freak!! I love this truck!!!
What a great old Dodge! I hope someone got it to fix and drive.

That'd be a neat work truck for sure.
For the condition it's in I'd say it was originally a custom camper model with the motorhome body hanging off the back of it. Looks to have had an easy life.
That would be an awesome ride.I'd like to hear it and see you drive it a bit. With the 3-spd,you may be able to haul cars too.
yea she is worth saving, looks solid, thanks for posting
Its a good survivor truck! Your welcome, and we thank YOU for watching !
FIX HER UP MAN!!!! Love that leaning tower of power!!!
I was going to say my great uncle used to have many of these around his farm...then you showed the NC inspection sticker. It might be one of his! ;)
Good chance it was one of his then isnt it? Would you like to have it back!
Haha... Even if I could confirm it was, I don't have a place for another vehicle!
That truck sure has some character
3 on the tree, manual brakes, and manual streering! You'll get a workout driving that thing around!
Cool. I love old pick-up trucks.
Don't know why somebody would send it to the junkyard. You should have no problem selling it.
Im hoping to atleast make it run again, that way it has a better chance of the new owner fixing up the slant 6 rather then dropping a 318 in it.. Id hate to see it make it this far in life only to be hacked up for a small block swap now....

What a classic defiantly restore it it will be awesome
Wish it was still around, I'd be there in a hot minute.
Change that put on new stuff in there. But on this stuff in there, all new all new and plus a new c. T or get that seat meopholster and have him do it up, take that cab. Yeah, take a cam, haven't seen him, haven't.
I've never seen a Three-On-The-Tree in a '70s Dodge Truck! That has to be extremely rare!
MAGNUM05 not rare at all for half ton dodge I've had and seen many
that is a nice truck! Someone save it!
slant 6 , run 4 ever !
You know it !
Cool Barn Find. Take her home, Jay.
sweet truck would love to hear her run
Thats our next goal for the coming days.
heck yeah let's get it running
Save it please!!! :) Really cool truck!
Somebody needs to!

How do you guys get these things? Do people call and sell you the cars?
I grew up in a truck exactly like this. Custom means a base model
Yes i like dodge trucks so much room under the Hood and there are so many conversions that would make that dodge tough again.
Right! And its still available too !
It would be awesome too see that thing run
Is it still available?
Slant 6 225 one of Chrysler's best motors. Minus the carbs that always seemed to stall.
Radio Rescue I had a 1983 B150 van with a /6, if you hit a puddle it would flood the distributor.
I like those old dodge trucks, I've been keeping my eyes open for one, hard to find..
I have one that I may be selling.
hi jay, what year is the lite green nova, with out any frount fenders and tell me about it ok.thanks and i love all your videos.bye mike elcamino
Slant 6, the leaning tower of power or sometimes called the hillside hemi

Cold start on dodge truck
Why does the tag in the window state 'approved for daylight use only'?
How do y’all people get the barn fund
Love the sticker
Are those the original tail lights?
What would they take for it
I'd love to see what ended up with this!
If I'm not mistaken the 2WD long beds are fairly rare.
is the truck still available?
That looks like a Dylan McCool project 😊
I just notice the green nova body in the backround is it gone
The red truck take to That's a good truck. I would take the answer up. Get a nice new frame for a both of them for both of them.

That would be a runner after a Korean EMP blast , do it up & stash it away for when needed m8 .
The first car I owned was a 1979 Dodge Aspen with the Slant-6. I'd give somebody $1,000 cash for a truck like this if it was close by.
Really would like to see it run any 80-86 ford trucks around
Im about 25 mins from you let me know if this dodge is still available
I liked the old dodge would like to see it run
I'm looking for this exact truck
can somebody tell me the difference between power brakes and non power brakes , i haven't driven a car without power brakes.
best of cold starts
Hey, what state do you live in?? Do you still have this truck?? If so, what do you want for it?? Thanks!!
How many miles?

How much for the dodge truck
With the insane gas prices this might be scooped up to roam the streets again, thriftmaster 6 ( all 110 h p of it) still should be capable of at least 17-22 mpg
