    Reading Mutual Aid by Kropotkin, released over a century ago, already fixes all these issues. I believe all Kropotkin says about human and animal nature is true.
    Competition is a celebration of play for all humans and animals. The ‘loser’ _never_ loses anything, but gains experience with another human.

    I'm glad I found your videos. I haven't seen the mental aspects of playing SF6 discussed often. I have anxiety when I play online. I get anxious and the adrenaline pumps through my body causing me to rush and affect my execution and that messes my mental which then leads to mistakes and beating myself up about it. It's strange to me because in my everyday life I'm very calm and even. I'm not the same guy outside the game. Playing this is fun and I do find joy in it but the emotional rollercoaster of playing online takes its toll on me. I've been trying to figure out where it's coming from. I think it's because I care so much and want to perform better and am disappointed when I don't. I'm not too upset at other players and their style but feel like they didn't see my best. I would love to get to a point when I'm at peace when playing. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this.

    Recognizing ego is a game changer! Anytime I'm up against lower level players I don't play regular because I presume I'm just better in my mind. Then i get clapped, cheeks out and everything. Thank you Andy for that amazing advice😭🙏

    Really appreciate how you’ve incorporated mentality into your videos. I think education about the ego is very needed in the video game community. And honestly society at large. Great stuff!

    Really appreciate you posting these mental game and mindset videos. It's been really helpful to me to see someone much higher-level having these same issues -- I'm big into my Tekken 7 grind right now and there's always a part of my brain that thinks, 'If I just made it to Purple ranks, I could chill out and wouldn't have to deal with this anxiety and frustration anymore,' but... that's just ego lying to me xD
    Seeing a Master-rank SF player go through this reminds me that it's all a question of mindset, and that's something we can all start working on whatever rank we are.
    Thanks for sharing!

    This is incredible this popped up today. Just yesterday one “the one you feed” podcast was a discussion with Aliza Gazipura about taming your inner critic and this is the exact same principle but applied to ego/anger along instead of just anxiety/fear. Ego and anxiety are the opposite sides of the spectrum but both are destructive in fighting games and in life.

    I know this is a "how to progress your game" video, but as a new player with stress problems, this might be the thing that keeps me playing fighting games. I have very much been "autopiloting" through any problems I'd been having with the game - I instinctively try to push through adversity... which is fine so long as you aren't inventing the adversity for yourself and there is no "through". I realised when I went on a win streak earlier and was just completely bummed out that "I didn't play as well as I should have" that something was close to giving, so walking directly out of that and finding this video was very timely! I'll definitely be putting some of this thinking into practice and reminding myself I'm on my own journey through ranked. Thanks!

    I think playing fighting games can be quite the ego re-training a lot of people need. Especially if you come from a team-based game background, the blame shifting can only take you so far in a 1v1 scenario (especially now with very good netcode and generally balanced cast). Losing will feel like shit, you'll get upset yes, but in time you realize that there's stuff you can work on / improve in order to win next time you face that situation. Generally people who get "stuck" at a certain rank, are most often mentally stuck, not actually physically/mechanically stuck. This can apply to most competitive games.

    Bruh how can you have ego in fighting games? in a game like League sure, but to have ego in fighting games is... stupid.

    • @eastcoasttone3952
      @eastcoasttone3952 Год назад +1

      Both League and fighting games are competitive by nature. If there’s competition involved there’s always gonna be ego.

    • @GelatinGhost
      @GelatinGhost Год назад +1

      Ego exists literally everywhere in life. It would be exceptionally strange not to be present in fighting games, especially since it is among the most competitive of genres. I’m guessing you probably only play them casually for fun which is why you don’t notice it as much.
