Hello. Please tell me if the monoblock phoenix gold titanium 2500.1 can play well with the Alpine SWX 1043d subwoofer ?? Or recommend a good SQ pairing. Thank you.
Hey Peter hope you're doing well. Every time I look at the world's best OEM sound systems vs. SQ builds like yours, a question always pops into my mind: why do OEM systems have soooo many channels? It's crazy! 13, 17 even 21 channels advertised... Is it only a marketing gimmick or are they on to something here? . PS: I'm a huge fan of point sources, not spread out speakers here and there. That is, unless the speakers form a meaningful array e.g. a line array.
Ali Mahdavi i can not really comment on the OEM side, but anyone can tell that inexperienced people can wave their willy with how many speakers they have! 😃 We’ll run 10ch here too. 👌🔊🔊
Hey peter very nice build! In your tuning videos though, I was always wondering why you never mention things other than EQing? Things like limiters, time delays, phase processings etc. Is it that the DSP's don't have these settings, or that these settings don't matter all that much, or that it's just something that you don't wish to share for free? I always think of the limiter/compressor as a necessary process for any kind of audio application, I'd like to hear your experienced opinion on that. Best regards!
Ali Mahdavi next tuning video will explain how many things i never mention, because as u feel it too, i don’t give everything away! 👌 Compressor in my world is the worst enemy, unless you want to build a system for a club against red tilting DJs! 😃
@@pssound9749 Hahaha yea it beats the heck out of sound quality when it activates, but at the end of the day you have to protect those valuable drivers and amps against long-term abuse. It may be my personal feelings, but every time I hear a driver distorting I deeply fear😂 . Edit: I do believe that the designer should always leave as much headroom so the compressor never activates at normal use, but not always do you have the resources to do so. Like in the club scenario you've mentioned.
@@pssound9749 The fact that you don't wanna give away all your experiences is totally understandable. How about phase processing? I've heard you can flatten the spacial peaks and nulls (standing waves/room modes) that ore otherwise uncontrollable in any room. In your videos I've seen you work your way around standing waves by choosing crossovers wisely and EQing locally at the listening position. Phase processing (the way I've heard it) can give you a spacially flatter response and make your day a lot easier. Check out Dr. Earl Geddes' works, He's got his PhD on the subject.
Martin Benning many people says that, but we’ll see how it goes! 👌 Also, what other sub would you use that can work in a shallow space and 0.8cuft box with decent output potential too?

@@pssound9749 Perfect, thanks lol.
We’ll run 10ch here too.
Compressor in my world is the worst enemy, unless you want to build a system for a club against red tilting DJs! 😃
@@pssound9749 Hahaha yea it beats the heck out of sound quality when it activates, but at the end of the day you have to protect those valuable drivers and amps against long-term abuse. It may be my personal feelings, but every time I hear a driver distorting I deeply fear😂
.
Edit: I do believe that the designer should always leave as much headroom so the compressor never activates at normal use, but not always do you have the resources to do so. Like in the club scenario you've mentioned.
Ali Mahdavi you need better power supply and better matched clean power then! 👌
👍
Man that system deserves a FAR better subwoofer. Unbelievable otherwise!
Martin Benning many people says that, but we’ll see how it goes! 👌
Also, what other sub would you use that can work in a shallow space and 0.8cuft box with decent output potential too?
@@pssound9749 it might take a day or two to find, but I would go with a 12” Aliante or Alto Mobile Falstaff. I’ve used both and both are extremely detailed and transparent. Again might take some time to find but it would be worth the wait if it were my car. Just my $.02. Great work BTW! Very nice builds!!
Martin Benning i used to have Aliante and i can only agree with you, but finding one in a GOOD STATE is the real issue! We need something from current product line. 👌🤷🏻♂️
I have the jl audio subwoofer not very impressed for the money
Leonard Slade we know that we may need another option, but we wanted to try squeezing everything under the floor. If it’s not ticking the boxes for the owner, than we’ll try something else or different install too. 👌
Leonard Slade what is your issue with it?
@@pssound9749 sound quality was good but didn't seem to play solid low notes I did try in a .5 and .75 and 1 cubic foot box my amp was class H 500 watts sq amplifier and for 650 dollars I've had 200 dollar subwoofer that sounded much better all had upgraded electrical sound deadening though out. Hope this helps. It was not terribly just not a good value
Leonard Slade i think here you pay for the technology more than anything, being so slim. If we had the option for a full-depth sub, we’d 💯 use something else! 🔊
@@pssound9749 I agree still going to be a awesome install can't wait to see the final results
