Thank you Guy. As a 62 yr old Drummer, you make it better! I was in High School when John passed, and wore a black armband that day in school. You have a new fan!
Also Guy i am a big Zebra fan from L.I. You Randy and Felix are great musicians. I was freinds with a member of your crew John Linton, and somehow you might remember Big Moon was good friends with John. I know you will never remember it was a long time ago me Big Moon took a road trip to Philly to see you play with Blue Oyster Cult and know body heard of them yet was Dokken at the Spectrum and went up to Poughkeepsie N.Y. and saw you at the Chance, had to be almost 40 years ago. Glad to see you guys going.
Wow! Such a great video breakdown of one of my favorite Zep songs, the slow-mo, the sliding timeline, outstanding. This video is a great tool to learn the song.
One of my favorite Zep songs. It took my band (in the late 70’s)!a couple months to get that song down. I didn’t have this kind of instruction. Great job Guy. I don’t remember if the mighty Zebra (best zep cover ever) played this one.
Great content Guy. I saw you play Zepplin in 1976 on a Tuesday night in fat city at the showboat doing the wnoe’s live broadcast. Thanks 🙏 for the decades of music you randy and Felix played for us in New Orleans. Zebra4life
Excellent video and explanation. One thing that struck me is, even though at its normal tempo this song is hard rock, truly one of the most “metal” songs Zep ever recorded.. when you slow the beats down in this video, they are actually pretty funky. Interesting guy that Bonham. A hard rock drummer who was funky as hell and swung everything. Thx for this awesome video!! Have you ever considered breaking down Tommy Aldridge’s performance on Snortin’ Whiskey by Pat Travers? That’s another rip roaring drum part.
If u listen to the LIVE/Knebworth version, you're listening to a band/drummer on another planet -Bonzo's fills and improvisations are out of this world.
You're only that knows his classic Rock. Loved the Burn analysis and the You fool no one analysis. Looking forward to this one. I also have a request because there's nothing but a few covers on the whole Internet, not even transcriptions. The song Frontiers by Journey.
So I saw the name "Guy Gelso" and had to click on this, it's been a while but navigating through the cob webs in my brain I was like "isn't this Zebra's drummer"? A quick peek through the comments found me correct! I thought so! How are you my friend, I'm a ZEBRA FAN! I love you guys, I was actually recently watching a couple old Zebra videos. I hadn't seen "Who's Behind The Door" in ages, that's a really great song and album. I forget who turned me on to you guys but that album came out and I bought it when I was 21 waaaay back when lol (83) Randy's a very talented guy, all three of you are, love his white double neck! Also a huge Zeppelin fan and love playing this song "guitar" I'm a big fan of drummer's and watch a lot of drum videos which is probably how this came into my feed. You guys have the hardest job in the band I admire and envy all of you I wish I had the coordination to play drums. Gotta love the internet, and chances to communicate with people like yourself. Bonzo was indeed a beast, this song is some of his finest work. You're an amazing drummer and I love what you do. Great talking to you Guy, take care and keep on beatin' up those drums, ....... Matthew
Can there be a single greatest song in all of rock? If so....Anyway thank you for enhancing love that I really thought impossible TO enhance. PS You are professorial master yourself by the way.
Robert Plant suffers from claustrophobia. The only way to get down to the studio for him was a freight elevator, and it wasn't wheelchair friendly, and sometimes would stop short of the floor. His leg was stretched out in front of him. He wacked it against everything in sight. He said it was like a Peter Seller's movie. Every bump and lurch hurt like a m-f, plus his heart racing? Poor guy.
Well to record in 3 weeks, it would be played basically live in the studio and overdubbed after. Page spent hours on overdubs after basic tracks were done.
There is 2 big fills and I played them both. My timeline is different then the record so I could break everything down and keep it shorter. They are indicated at Great fill #1 & 2 Thanks for watching!!
Yep…your correct…there are several killer fills…only had time for a couple. These are my favs. UPDATED… I am updating this comment because I listened again and the fill you speak of is only a partial version of the (#2) I showed. The 2nd time he plays it is more complete, when the 2nd bridge begins with the AH’s in it. Same fill but for a full 4 count and shows a better example. I still stand that the (#1) I showed, before the fill you speak of is a killer fill, one of many in the song, and the one I thought showed his playing best.
I really like your content, but you should stop begging for subscribers at the beginning. Wait till the end. And also, subscribers doesn't "help your channel" so much as they "put money in your pocket". A little honesty......
Well to be “honest” I make zero money from my videos. I do it for the love of drums and drummers and playing at being an amateur film maker in my spare time when I’m not touring with my band Zebra. Thanks for the comment.
So glad the algorithm gods sent me to Guy Gelso! What a fantastic teacher/channel ! Peace from Detroit MI.
This song is amazing, Bonham is such an inspiring legend and so are you, thank you for putting these together and sharing, I highly enjoy these.
Thank you Guy. As a 62 yr old Drummer, you make it better! I was in High School when John passed, and wore a black armband that day in school. You have a new fan!
Glad you liked it…thanks my friend.
That first press roll round the kit is still thrilling when I hear Bonzo smash it out!

It is!

That’s another rip roaring drum part.
Love the new video editing breaking the parts down. Great Zep track.
Thanks Ira!!!
I'm short of breath after watching! Can't imagine playing it!
If u listen to the LIVE/Knebworth version, you're listening to a band/drummer on another planet -Bonzo's fills and improvisations are out of this world.
Absolutely brilliant Guy. Huge Zebra fan.
Thanks you my friend...
Wow, fantastic. ALS is such an intense song.
Love watching it preformed live on the How the West was Won DVD.
John Bonham was a BEAST on the drums.
I agree…a monster drummer. Thanks for watching!!!

Matthew…this is a great compliment, thank you and sorry for the delayed response…Guy
New to the channel. Love it! How about a rig rundown? Your set up is unique, explain your influences. Thank you.
Thanks for the nice video. An underrated song on a very underrated album.
I remember playing this when it first came out !! Great job!
Thanks Buddy!!
your videos are enjoyable and so professional, any chance we can get a rig rundown? appreciate the time u put into these , fantastic!!
Great! Love it!
That fill at 5:26!
It’s incredible what Bonham did in his short life at 32.
Great video - nice breakdown of a classic! Thanks, Guy!
Thanks for watching!!
Thanks my friend…
Dude that's cool how you go into slow mo , so you can get the groove.
Do you think Carouselambra would be worth breaking down?
Excellent. We'll presented video...

Kick ass !
Thanks!!
ha ha, I see you employ the ol' Cotton Balls in the Drums Trick!
Yes indeed I do….
Wasn’t this album mostly recorded live?
Well to record in 3 weeks, it would be played basically live in the studio and overdubbed after. Page spent hours on overdubs after basic tracks were done.
@@GuyGelso it just sounded like they were all in a room together
Just subscribe
you didn't break down the monster fill-in @ 2:31 on the track which is the whole reason i watched
or at least i didnt see it
There is 2 big fills and I played them both. My timeline is different then the record so I could break everything down and keep it shorter.

Sorry but the first killer fill was inexplicably skipped...right after "at last the birds have flown"
Yep…your correct…there are several killer fills…only had time for a couple. These are my favs.

Sounds like you’re playing it wrong tbh.
