My wife was going to kick me out or I had to go into a month's detox I went into a massive depression, I did not think I could make it through a week that was 120 days ago-You are a lot tougher than you think even when you feel broken and fragile.
Courage is not where the hero goes riding off into sunset and everyone cheers. Courage is when you're broken and fragile and you keep going no matter how bad you feel. That is real courage.
Of course there is hope. If you are feeling down, this too will pass. There's always better days ahead and there is someone who loves you and cares about you. If this message applies to you or anyone you know. Be positive and optimistic. Have a good day reader.
I love my food. I live to eat, not eat to live. I always cook a good meal every night. I don't get enough exercise and I need to get fitter, but the weather is miserable and it doesn't make me want to venture out. I don't function well during winter. I hate the long dark nights and incessant rain (Cornwall). Hobbies are also essential. It's shocking how many folk don't have any. They consider watching TV or going on holiday as a hobby.
Very apt today ty. Today's been tough, like being in quicksand and trying to pull your legs out. some days I'm more positive than others. Today little if any hope.felt poorly all day. So thanks to you and to ppl whom have commented 💪tomorrow is another day 🙌
The only motivation I need to stay sober is the memory of my last time in hospital, there’s nothing like your own mortality breathing down your neck to focus the mind. I’m very confident I’ll never drink again but never complacent.
Well said @mickg7299….my memory of waking up in a hospital getting stitched up and a blood transfusion will never leave me….literally facing life or death and I chose a life that is now rich and full. Every time I watch one of Steven’s videos on his valiant battle to regain his health, I am reenergized in the “Hope” that has replaced where the Dread once was….
All of us let's try our absolute best! The thing that makes my hairs stick up is remembering the doctor tell another patient, "Another drink will kill you." I escaped early at 26.

My Dad was an alcoholic, too. His liver was barely functioning and he died of esophageal cancer. He was 60. His brothers were alcoholics. Uncle Ed died and they a six pack of beer in his coffin. It's funny how things just appear out of nowhere. That is one of the things that I appreciate about your videos. If you are still struggling, watch Steven's video every day. Eventually they will sink in.
I married into a drinking family. I blame them for my drinking. Well, not really, but I was always more comfortable being around them drinking. My late father in law liked a drink. He told me to wait until 6pm at the least before having a drink, and I have stuck to this ever since. My parents are not big drinkers and I don't drink much in their company. I'm hoping I'll get bored with it soon and just stop and do something else.
You dont think there is hope when your in the grip of alcohol addiction but when you make the decision to get clean all the optimism comes flooding back. You soon realise that the hope is slowly coming back to you and it spurs you on. You start to feel much better and you know your winning the battle. Great video Steven. One of the worst things I had to go through was seeing my dad in hospital with cirrhosis. As I was living in London I hadn't seen my dad for quite a while, when I got a call that my dad wasn't well I got on the train to go back to the Midlands. The nurse was seeing to him when I got there and the curtains were closed but then she came out and opened the curtains I had to walk away for a short while. My dad didn't look like my dad anymore. I remember my dad looking at my brother and saying "this is it, isn't it?" He knew he wouldn't be leaving the hospital. He drifted into sleep and I sat by him, held his hand and told him it was OK to go. That night he died. The main reason I kept trying to give up alcohol is because I don't ever want to put my children in the same situation that I had to go through.
Hi Steve, there is definitely hope if we are positive & move forward. We have to change our ways, & our circle of friends. You are the proof of getting back fit & healthy with hard work. Well done, top man. Hope you're well 👍

I've always played sport & excerised, even through my binge days l'd be cycling 60-100 miles a week. But when l stopped drinking l suffered from chronic fatigue, for months, it was bleedin difficult to start exercising again, harder than not drinking!
@stevencurry215 l never sought professional help, l just stopped. It's a shame you can't get in front of the people that l often saw in hospital (where l worked), many are in the last few days/weeks where they may still have a chance but l honestly think they've just had enough of hospital/medical/professional advice, rather than advice from somebody they could empathise with. Another brilliant Vid Steven. One of the most powerful, and brutally honest "My Story" vids that I have ever seen. That would make an excellent AA chair speech at their meetings
@@stevencurry215 Yes they do many conferences both in UK and abroad. I love going to the AA meetings because I like to hear the chair speakers life story. Just want to say in this you say the addiction is always there. I know i keep going on about the sinclair method (because its absurd it isnt the first line of treatment) but using the sinclair method destroys the neural pathways that give you the constant cravings. The addiction doesn't have to always be there if you use this treatment. I used it from being an alcohol and now never even think about it.

Why then can some people have one drink and others are alcoholics? I sort of feel that there is a genetic difficulty. My brother is not an alcoholic, whereas I am. I don't think it's psychological. My brother and I were raised in the same household by the same parents.
100% agree wi5h the original comment. If someone with an addiction got stuck on an island with no access to alcohol would they be miraculously cured? The disease model fits a narrative for some treatment, big pharmacy and healthcare love that too. If it works for an individual believing the disease / allergy model then all the best. I believe that ANYONE who regularly consumes a highly addictive and neurotoxic substance will develop problems. Have a good day.
