I was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) at age 41 in 2021. My symptoms primarily affect the right side of my body, including my thumb, pinky, wrist, big toe, and ankle. I’ve noticed significant improvements by following certain lifestyle changes: fasting (18/6), avoiding alcohol, red meat, fried foods, and sugar. Here’s what my daily routine looks like- morning with a glass of warm water with lemon first thing, 8 AM a glass of green juice made with celery, green apple, cucumber, and ginger. Meals: Lunch around 1 PM and dinner at 7 PM. Plenty of water and green tea throughout the day. I stopped taking Methotrexate but continue to get bloodwork every three months to monitor my condition.
I’ve found that fasting helps me. If I start getting swelling, skipping a meal or having a green smoothie works well for me. High glycemic foods seem to cause me inflammation. I tracked my food and pain levels for about 8 months and have recently used AI to analyze my logs and it came to the same conclusions that I did. High carb food increases my pain on the days after I eat it with peaks 2 days afterward. I’ve been wearing a glucose monitor to confirm my suspicions and I appear to be especially sensitive to grains... which cause major glucose spikes in me along with things like white rice, etc. If I leave them out of my diet, I feel much better. I can tolerate them now and then, but having more than one meal or snack a day with high glycemic foods can cause swelling. Since discovering this link, and eating more vegetables, lean meat and fish, I’ve had very little pain. I also use a regular dry sauna at my gym and try to maintain a daily workout regiment. This lifestyle has allowed me to remain medication free for the last 1.5 years. I hope I can keep it that way. I did a video on my experience in case it helps someone else: ruclips.net/video/WE0IJj4bG0k/видео.html
I am glad I found your channel, my 14 grand daughter is having some bad flares. We have implemented some of your suggestions. I will stay the course, I also use anti inflammatory salves to rub her joints, we have no local Pediatric Rhuematologist in my area, but with God's help and a healthy regimen we will stay on top of this
Your sentence in every video "I'm a certified rheumatologist and also an arthritis patient" make me to trust you more. Because only a doctor who has experienced this pain, can understand the pain.

Can you discuss homocysteine’s role in auto immune types of arthritis? I am in a support group where one of the members said their doctor told them that their high homocysteine was contributing to their flares. They were told to take b vitamins to mitigate it and reported that alone caused their flare to stop. I imagine fasting might aggravate a person ‘s arthritis if it got triggered by nutrition deficiencies like missing essential fatty acids such as the omega oils. I think fasting helps mine but I am underweight. Supplements can help but it is a shot in the dark. I think individualized approach might be good. I was taking white willow bark but discovered I has Samter triad, a respiratory, problem happens when I take aspirin like compounds such as NSAIDs. I invested in redlight therapy for my daily unremitting back pain. Thank you! BTW I hate prednisone and steroids. They deplete your nutrients and can trigger diabetes etc. This is even though IV steroids with oxygen saved my life. I was released from hospital and had to taper off. These steroids can save lives but I think they are over prescribed. They cause dental and bone issues too. They are powerful.
I have pericarditis I think due to rheumatoid arthritis (I didn’t %100 diagnosed but have positive Ana and my family members have RA). What can I do for that? I use plaquenil and colchicine rn
Not medical advice but sharing what worked for me. Green smoothies now and then, vegetable meal plans work, some meat and exercise. I cook my own meals and pretty much prefer it than smoothies. Almost all the people I encounter in the same position as me got better within 6 months and some took a year. I got better by consuming a variety of different vegetables, increased water intake and minimized my consumption of meat and lots of exercise. Prednisone or any other steroids cannot beat that.
@@imgreen1838 I am 70. Change of diet to low/no grain carbs (pasta, bread, doughnuts, cakes, et.), low sugar (use stevia or truvia or honey for sweetening when wanted, lots of organic fresh vegetables, I do eat meat and eggs though, plus I take a low dosage vitamin D3 & K2 supplement everyday, especially when I cannot get outside very much. It seems to have made a world of difference for me in being able to get around and keep up with the grandchildren with much less aches and pains.
But, sorry, I cannot stand to drink green smoothies. I tried but just cannot do it. ☺️ I much prefer to eat the actual vegetables. To each their own, as the saying goes. 😁

For me, just eating fruits and vegetables for a few days, and cutting meats and grains and dairy, really helps my PsA, and asthma.
I do the same, RA is not fun.

How about PMR? Do you have videos where you talk about this?
I have pericarditis I think due to rheumatoid arthritis (I didn’t %100 diagnosed but have positive Ana and my family members have RA). What can I do for that? I use plaquenil and colchicine rn
Use a little bicarb for a bad flare up in water
Doctor, which red light therapy do you recommend for my hands? I have Rheumatoid Arthritis?
I’d like to know this as well.
I cannot imagine fasting with screaming, swollen joints. The controlled Prednisone takes that screaming pain away immediately.
Short term or infrequently maybe but using prednisone longer term can be damaging to your body
Oh yes, it takes the pain away, but taking 5 mg prednisone daily resulted in both hips needing to be replaced! If I knew then, what I know now . . .
