It never really registered before just how much detail is included in Grey Knights models. I've seen them in BatReps before of course, but its a whole other thing to see one painted step-by-step. Very well done.
I run an loyalist Emperor's Children successor, using sliver armor as a base. I use Grey Knight Steel, Space Wolves Grey, and Gryph-Chager Grey. Makes a really cool effect if you wanna try it.
I did my own color scheme for my Grey Knights. Abaddon Black for the armor, Khorne Red for their shoulders/purity seal_stamp part/weapons, Iron Hands Steel for metal bits/weapons, Corax White for purity seal_scoul part/book on chest, and lastly Balthazar Gold or Retributor Armour for the mini shields
Would be good to get more rotation of the model while you painting so we can see each phase from more angles. Also the cloak seems way too dark with Rakarth Flesh. Wonder if better with Ushabti Bone.
thank you very much for such a good lesson. there are two questions still though))) : 1. Is there a possibility to replace Valejo Air Model Chrome on anything from GW with the same result like you did? 1. Are you planning to show how to make Grey Knight weapon with it specific color? (Voldus does not have it) Thank you
I'm not 100% sure as I haven't painted one for a long time - but maybe black, kantor blue, caledor sky and white - then you can add mixes of each as you go to smooth transitions The other option is to watch my necron skorpekh lord video and how I did the blades - replace the colours with contrast blues - mayne leviadon blue and talassar blue
Really nice model. I used your technic to paint my custodes and they were beatiful. Now is the time for my Grey Knights! You think I could use Grey seer primer instead of black? And if I use grey seer, is their gonna be a big difference between your silver armor in your video) and my silver armor with grey seer?
@@ThePaintingCoach its nice to see the difference between leadbelcher and grey knights steel as base color. Could you make a video about painting the Nemesis Dreadknight?
Looks great. I think I'll be following this for a nice looking kill team. To save me buying another paint, do you have any idea what the equivalent of Grey Knights Steel would be in the Vallejo Metal Color range?
is it just the camera cause my greyknight turned out super 80s blue. In the video he way more silvery. I dont know maybe i have to mix in some leadbelcher to achive the same look ?
Shouldn't have to mix it - did you thin the shade with water or contrast medium? The grey knight steel mixes nicely with bright chrome which should make it more silver and leave the blue tint in the recesses
3 года назад+1
Could I use watered down ultra smurf contrast in place of draken
Great video as always. May I ask what varnish you would recommend when using true metallic paints without an airbrush? I find the GW varnish can mutes it, but is Ardcoat any good? Thanks
I haven't got any experience with ardcoat, but a gloss varnish should work - I use Vallejo Premium Gloss - i'd always try on a spare part first to make sure you like the result and it applies ok
You could - or try mixing a red, a yellow and a white - that will get you a decent flesh tone - experiment with adding more of each colour to get the tone you want :)
They will be released separately. The Kill Team box contains the entire multipart kit which will be put in its own box down the road (probably around the time the Guard receive their codex).
Getting into things, this is a great video. easy to follow along. but almost 30 paints is a lot to invest just to start painting. that is more of a me problem than anything else but i have been watching a variety of videos and all these models just need so many different paints.
Thanks for the feedback - I'm glad you enjoyed the vid! I appreciate what you are saying about the paints. It's easy to say that you will use plenty of them if you paint an entire army so it doesn't really matter - but it isn't a cheap hobby to start with! You could go a different way and do something like base coats and washes to start. You can then go back and add layers and highlights later on once you buy more paint - might be a better way across a whole army! The other option is to learn how to mix some of the paints so that you don't need as many - lots of options to try - any q's feel free to ask
Amazing like always! Just love how you manage to give very easy tips and very ease way to paint but in the end it looks phenomenon! Also, very impressed that you manage to paint assembled models in most of the time. I struggle in getting to most parts of them when they are assembled. Hope one day i will be as good as you are! Thank you again!
omg, its literally HELL. Dont you need fkn microscope or something to paint THIS tiny stuff? I remember i screwed up golden skulls on simple marines, but this?..

Thanks! Yes often catches me out as well haha
It really is, which is why I paint my own version. Which isn't exactly cannon but they look cooler to me

Love the way it looks
Really great job and tutorial. Really like the gradual highlights on the grey knights steel.
Thanks mate glad you liked it!
Great tutorial as always my man! Love how it’s easy to follow as always!

Cool glad you found it useful!
Looking to get into Warhammer again, great video thx!
Cheers Billy - welcome back to the hobby!
About to start painting up Grey Knights, didn't realize just how many colors go into getting that color scheme right.
I remember asking for this tutorial. This will be great for painting my army
Glad you liked it!
Grey knights are so damn cool looking
Cheersn Rob - they are!
Awesome tutorial as always ^^
Thanks!
Where are the comments to say this is just an awesome tutorial!
No idea 🤷🏼♂️

It will certainly be brighter!

You can use Stormhost Silver or Runefang Steel from GW
No plans yet, but I will when the codex is released 👍🏻
@@ThePaintingCoach Thx for the answer)) but if you would do that, what would you suggest to use which paints to paint GK weapons?)))

Great Video as always man , are you going to do any tutorials on gloomspite gitz?
Thanks - I'm all orc and goblinned out at the moment- so maybe when they get their next release
@@ThePaintingCoach haha I'll be waiting 👍

Hmmm might not come out as bright
Nicely painted, did you get a bit of frosting when you have varnished the model: 23:25?
No I don't think so - i think it's actually basing sand I forgot to brush off 😬
@@ThePaintingCoach its nice to see the difference between leadbelcher and grey knights steel as base color. Could you make a video about painting the Nemesis Dreadknight?
I haven't got any plans to do on - but I'd use exactly the same techniques as this 👍🏻

You can paint it on or use an airbrush - works either way 👍🏻
What if i have no acess to Flesh -like paints? Could you recommend something as substitution? Maybe Ushabti bone?
You could - or try mixing a red, a yellow and a white - that will get you a decent flesh tone - experiment with adding more of each colour to get the tone you want :)
Do you have any advice for the eyes if one wants to keep the grey knights' helmets on?
I just released this video:
ruclips.net/video/yIqnD3NoA2g/видео.html
Change the colour from Blood Angels Red to Aethermatic Blue
Unrelated topic, but will the death korps of kreig models in the octarius box be released later, or have I been mislead?
They will be released separately. The Kill Team box contains the entire multipart kit which will be put in its own box down the road (probably around the time the Guard receive their codex).
Time to dig out my 5th ed dudes, cheers.
Glad you liked it

No i'm just about ok!
Awesome work ! So I don’t find « chrome air » color. Is it citadel color?
No it's vallejo model air - you can use Stormhost Silver from Citadel as well
@@ThePaintingCoach i think I got this color from Vallejo… it’s a « prince august metallic silver » ref 063. Is it this one?
It's 71.064 on my bottle
@@ThePaintingCoach ok… so it’s not the same (Vallejo and prince august are the same). If the colors are the same the 3 last numbers too. Thank you
No problem 👍🏻
