Hot take? I think the Marvel Collection shouldn't be nominated in this category either. The combination of the games in it, makes it objectively the best nominee, but it's really unfair. It's like The Lord of the Rings Trilogy or The Godfather trilogy as one movie being nominated in the Oscars or another movie award today. There should be a specific Best Remaster, Port or Re-release category for remasters, ports and retro-collections for old games and they should not be eligible for other categories.
@@ShinmegamiPersona DLC was actually in nominations (and won) 8 years ago. Witcher 3 Blood and Wine won RPG of the Year over Dark Souls 3 and Deus Ex Mankind Divided.
Under Night in Birth II should been on that list instead of Multiversus. I hope Tekken 8 wins it over it. Because it don't make sense to be added on that list again.
It's funny because, despite multiple months of updates and mechanics changes that are all genuine improvements, Rivals 2 blows Multiversus out of the water in terms of gameplay. I should know, I played Multiversus consistently for multiple months.

I mean yes but also no. Like there is a multitude of fighting games that has come out already since 2023,2024 and still going as it with 2XKO, Fatal Fury Motw,Diesel Legacy on the horizon. That's not even also include indie games which I'm surprised that aren't mentioned to be in this nomination to be added like Pocket Bravery.
Nah, it reaffirms the poor selection process of award shows and that they should never be taken seriously. We got a jank arena fighter with a big brand, a collection of 90s games with big IP, shoddy relaunch of a platform fighter with big IP (which was already nominated before when it was a beta) and two sequels which are themselves based on massive IP. If they wanted to include new games of dubious quality and considerable hype, Blazing Strike is right there. If they wanted to highlight a platform fighter with polish, Rivals 2 is probably the main pick but Smack Studio and NASB2 were good too. We also had UNIB2 this year. If we had to have a re-release, SNK Vs. Capcom: SVC Chaos may not beat MvC2 but at least it is a solo game if that matters.
