I was just thinking to myself: Man i wished there were more content like Richards critisism of the Rio Majors. "Blink" a new upload from Richard... Oh how the starts align somethimes.
broky was probably the worst player in faze going 0-3, but replace him? absolutely no way. the only awp'rs better than him (simple, zywoo, shiro/jame but completely opposite style) are never going to faze, he's been fazes best player over the year and is a big part of their setups, he's not a plug and play hold passive angles awp'r so they'd have to change everything. he's got good overall stats, great impact, amazing clutch. it's the reverse jks, and like you said one event does not make him good again, one event does not make broky bad. yes, it's shit that it's a major, but i bet he responds hard. it would be a huge mistake to replace him.
nah they are still bad. every top teams didn't perform this tournament. like they beat the C version of every team than the S tier version. similar to BUBBLE LAKERS championship, doesn't count in most people books.
It was a weird major. Glad Brazil got one because of their history in CS but I wish it was smoother and ESL used some foresight in the layout decisions.
On your point about the economy, I feel the problem on ct at least is that there is no money decrease for saving like on t side, maybe giving the entire team the minimum amount of loss money if there is a save would help incentivize more retakes and such?
Probably not minimum loss for one person saving. Not sure we'd ever see saves then. I feel like mirroring T-Side and giving $0 to the person who saves could work though. Like alright, you can keep your gun & armor, but you're not getting to replenish all your util if you save
@@caged3249 that’s does sound more reasonable, my original suggestion, along with the general issues the ct economy has right now would likely be a disastrous combination for the ct economy
Couldn't agree more with the issues from a viewership perspective. As someone who watches A LOT of CS, changing up the map pool more often would be a breath of fresh air. I am sick of seeing Mirage/Dust 2/Inferno every series for the past 5+ years, there is nothing to learn on these maps anymore.
I thought it was really obvious as Richard said that the rules and format etc must be changed to make the game better. I don't blame Outsiders for playing like they do tbh. When it comes to pro level I agree with the statement "Don't hate the player, hate the game"
If i'm not wrong Ax1Le's mouse got broken so that might've have contributed to having a lackluster performance. Even me who's just chilling in pubs, changing the peripherals can really affect my performance, much less in tier 1 pro scene where games can be won by tiniest of margins. Otherwise if you look at the whole year, Ax1Le has been the most consistent rifler by far as it was pointed by NeroCS
Great overview. I haven't watched CS as long as Richard. Only seen csgo since 2015 but I feel the same way about the general playstyle. It is boring too often. I don't agree with changing more maps at once. I would like to see map changes more often but not more than one at a time. Also I think the terrible economy is more to blame than some of the maps for bad play.
idk if you replace nitr0. if you do he'd have to step away voluntarily and he and daps would have to hand pick the next igl. that man is the glue and provides so much out of game support
Honestly I didn't even really realize how bad the map pool actually was before I started playing some cs myself again with friends and literally nobody wants to play four or five of the maps in the pool :D I'm of the opinion if you play some matchmaking it shouldn't be so serious that you can't play all the maps but I'm starting to think maybe the maps are so trash afterall that no one likes them lol
Tuscan is a horrible map for modern CS. It was fine in the past (similar to cs_office) but in order for it to be playable competitively nowadays would need it to be so different as to be unrecognizeable. Let sleeping dogs lie, as the saying goes
Important to mention on the Outsiders point. Yeah, they are good, it's impossible to deny that they are, they beat good teams, they're solid, they can really just play against anyone and give you a game. That being said, to be the best team in the world, winning a tournament won't cut it, even if it's the biggest tournament. Imo it's not a fluke win, it was a run they could have again on different circumstances, it's just that you'd be right more often than not to say they won't win it. It's different to if let's say fnatic were to win the major, that would've been impossible to repeat. The idea of them being the best because the HLTV ranking says so or because they won the major is innocent at best. A number one team just plays different, you see it on the eye test when Na'vi, or Astralis, or Gambit, or FaZe were number one you could tell based on how they played that they are number one, that they are better than the rest and can beat anyone if faced against them. Outsiders/VP doesn't have that. They can fight against anyone, they COULD beat anyone, but they shouldn't. That's where my ted talk ends.
Spot on with everything here. We need Bo3s in the major (date I say a Bo5 for the finals, and leave Bo5’s for the majors, Kato and Cologne) and there needs to be a change to game to make saving objectively worse, along with putting in extra maps. At least we’re getting a new map, but man the pro game would benefit a lot to cycle out Mirage and Vertigo, even if Mirage is just for a couple cycles.
This was the first major in CSGO that I didn't watch the play-offs. This is the first major where the games didn't live up to expectation and I just lost interest...
It's amazing we still are having to go to this topic.. HOW does BO1's keep coming back, when it's widely known that it's shit, and I feel like we have been talking about this for the whole time of CSGO been around...
The map pool currently feels like Mirage, Ancient, Nuke and 4 maps no one wants to play but they have to because the others get banned. Ranking maps puts Ancient in the middle of the board, I think it should be at the bottom of the board, it's laughable how Inferno got so shit because if ur anchor dies you have 4 CT players saving.
S1mple used to be kinda hated. Cuz he was kind of this bad guy, I think he was used to haters in the crowd and still performed. But what I think happened here is, now that he is more liked and less toxic (yes he is less toxic). He was showing this "weaker side" to the community by his twitter post "pls don't boo us" for example, which in the past, he would've NEVER done. I can't explain it, but I feel like it really got to him that he couldn't be this past bad guy right there and say f you I will destroy you and you're brazilian team. Lmk if I sound crazy lol.
Brazil and Gaules did not paint America in a positive light. "You'll never understand us"excuse to the stolen camera, to the crowd influence on this major was just atrocious. I understand the need to support your home country but at some point you have to cheer for good CS in general no matter the org. I'm from North America and I have to say South America and specifically Gaules left a negative impression when you compare that tournament to Blast
Cerq redeeming himself slightly at the major was a nice story at least for EG. Additionally, I think this is the last event that we can use the "Auti went to Valorant" excuse for why he's playing as poor as he is
It actually doesnt matter who you point fingers at cause at the end of the day the whole team is bad. There isn't a single player that is worth keeping more than the others, and the moves required to fix the team aren't obvious. EG is going to keep showing up to tournaments and they are going to to continue to be the least enjoyable team to watch in the world unless they make roster overhauls.
I 100% agree. just noting that the valorant excuse after however many months he's been back for is over. At this point he's just playing bad CS. the whole team is.
The crowd cheating allegations are something weird to me, i must be missing something. Yeah the crowd started yelling when the crosshair was close to someone but being loud when you're getting close to an opponent give both teams the same information. Perfecto actually used the crowd against Furia when he was being hunted in quarter-finals and actually killed both Furia players because he listened to the crowd, at ancient if I am not mistaken. The brazilian crowd are loud to try and give information but brazilian players dont know how to use it. They weren't moving the crosshair to a possible boost and then to the ground to see if the crowd yelled just at the boost and to confirm that they are looking to your crosshair. I think that hardly any information was truly given with the exception of the save from opponent CT.(If I am not missing something)
What a mindnumbingly stupid argument "Yeah they did cheat, but they didnt fully abuse it to its maximum possible extent, they didnt perfectly coordinate the cheating to create a perfect cheating machine, so does it even matter?"
I was just thinking to myself: Man i wished there were more content like Richards critisism of the Rio Majors. "Blink" a new upload from Richard... Oh how the starts align somethimes.

The editing is really fucking good in this episode. Great job to the editor.
Love this. you know it's a scuffed major when the most memorable moments are when the favorites are being eliminated
broky was probably the worst player in faze going 0-3, but replace him? absolutely no way. the only awp'rs better than him (simple, zywoo, shiro/jame but completely opposite style) are never going to faze, he's been fazes best player over the year and is a big part of their setups, he's not a plug and play hold passive angles awp'r so they'd have to change everything. he's got good overall stats, great impact, amazing clutch. it's the reverse jks, and like you said one event does not make him good again, one event does not make broky bad. yes, it's shit that it's a major, but i bet he responds hard. it would be a huge mistake to replace him.
I agree wholeheartedly. That was almost certainly a knee-jerk reaction by RL
literally the only replacement for him would be a shiro that hardly speaks any english
Thank God they didn't replace him
