Definetly, almost any Thorin or Richard vid is more entertaining than "Tech-Pause-Rio"... if I were Blast I'd go out and hire Richard and Thorin asap! I mean they talk shit, but man is that entertaining shit! "Was there a tech pause? Didnt notice"^^
I knew when you didn't upload for 2 weeks a banger would come. Didn't dissapoint. Thanks for putting some things in context and opening up another perspective for me (and others) as I also can be an emotional and stupid cs fan. Much love.
You are such a massive piller in counter strike and of course E sports as a whole... I seriously don't know what the counter strike scene in particular would be without you... in all seriousness you will never get enough credit but the real know! Of course Thorin as well but really can't thank you enough for keeping it real
You had me worried when i checked and saw no uploads for 2 weeks. So i checked twitter and saw that you started a war with brazil again. Explains everything really
Incredible video! You hit all the key points that caused this event to truly suck ass, you certainly opened my eyes to many things I didn't catch on to during the Major. For me, the most disappointing aspect was the crowd/event planners disrespect toward S1mple. Up until you began speaking about that subject, I was absolutely making a fool of myself I've been laughing so hard! As I listened to you detail the spitting, "banter", and booing towards Navi/S1mple himself, I found myself growing quite sad. In particular, the "Player of the Decade" reward. After watching the clip of him walking out to accept his award.. I'm absolutely disgusted by the situation and I physically feel gross. I can only hope that future tournaments held anywhere will learn from this complete failure in Rio that was supposed to amplify the great parts of the game that we love. Thank you Richard for highlighting the lowlights and holding the people who allowed this embarrassment to occur accountable. Keep up the amazing content!
This is what ESL asked everyone to sacrifice their integrity for by taking the Saudi money? THIS is what Saudi money gets you apparently, ESL should be embarrassed for taking the money to begin with, but then delivering a product this bad with the blood money is pure shite
Chad is probably right when he says its biggest ticket selling. But its kinda stupid because they had crowd in 12 days instead of the usual 4. Not breaking the record would have been EMBARRASING
Richard PLEASE! As a Brazilian I feel deeply offended by what I've heard. It's not CachaCa, with the C sounding like a K. It's CachaÇa, with the Ç sounding like double S. Don't make this mistake again or I'll send you Vampeta's caralho again. Also you can use Sake or Vodka on Caipirinhas because not everyone here can handle their cachaça (pinga) either.
I understand they’re expensive, especially for smaller events, but soundproof boxes (preferably with one way glass) should be standard at majors past group stage IMO
@@UpsideDownCanoe Think they came out with an announcement that says they'll be back in 2023. God fucking help us. Because if it's anything like this one it'll be a fucking clown show.
It was genuinely so disappointing to see how empty the arena was throughout the major. I just feel bad for the players. Such stupid planning on ESL's part.
The Copium levels were definitely through the roof. Highly enjoyed NMC though, so thanks for that! I just wish the world got off this fuck up merry-go-round where it's always someone else's fault and it's always fucking racism or w/e. It's getting old, it's not true and it just makes actual introspection impossible. Thanks for being an opposite force to all the gaslighting!
Just a note regarding the Mouz C9 game. Someone on the reddit comments mentioned, the fans were already cheering for Mouz. So Gaules told them you're already chanting, why not go inside and cheer for them.
I watched all the London faceit major games on RUclips uploads. Low key enjoyed it and had no idea there were so many issues on the live feed. In terms of just actual counter strike, this major was ass. I think I can remember 3 or 4 good moments that had me thinking this is high level game play.
Olof, get right, forest and friberg, and the rest of 2014 lineups of nip and fnatic are what got me in to competitive CS. The fact that the last time I get to see them play is against irrelevant sweaty try hards is such a disappointed. Truly hope Brazil don't ever get an event like this again if this is how they're going to act.
The most absurd thing with production was the obsession with the weird kissing cams, I really didnt get it why they this was the only they did with the crowd.
Removing mini-map and X-ray is not a good compromise... just use booths. Dota 2 is the only eSport to follow SC:BW footsteps is using sound proofing booths and IDK why that is.
So from what I understand booths are expensive and potentially a fire hazard at alot of venues. There was alot of tournaments back in the day that had booths.
The pandering by talent was absolutely terrible. Had Fl0ms stream open for one game, and he goes on a rant because someone brought up a debate about how much a tournament should focus on entertainment for in person fans vs people watching online, calling them spoiled, entitled, etc. Ass kissing all around.
First Major, where the crowd did not enjoy the games most, but only cheered for home teams and didnt care about anything else. Image cologne, when the crowd only cheers for -mouz- BIG... never gonna happen xD
brazilians or the brazilian community is being treated like kids and the irony of it is, they even embrace that, completely unaware - at least the loudest voices.
I am just getting around to this video but those mickey mouse claims that we will never understand and how others don't understand struggles is so stupid. I am a Mexican American living in the US why cant I understand racism, violence, or prejudice? When I go to Mexico do they think I'm treated as a complete equal or living in the US? These claims are so stupid it actually pains me
I'm not gonna lie, it does upset me to see this rift between Brazil and the rest of the world. But everytime Gaules goes on his tirades and I see everyone either buying his bullshit or too afraid to call him out on it, I see that it's not really undeserved. That guy is a liability to international relations, but he's the #1 and way too entrenched. It's a terrible feeling... On another note though, does that portuguese translator ever lived in Brazil? I have _never_ seen "apavoro" ever used in a threat. It's a silly word, kinda like saying "you'll be shook" in english. Extremely common among soccer fans. Yes, literally it means "terrified", but "break a leg" also literally sounds like a threat and it's not really what it means. Languages have those quirks that don't translate well. I still stand by that, in this particular case, that guy meant no harm at all.
As a Brazilian, in my opinion, I realized that your analysis, in some parts, was made by emotional aspects. Major was biggest of all. Making a 360 stage for 18,000 people is quite risky when a large part of the audience is organic. Unlike some events. Because having 7 thousand people seems empty. Because you can't close the top of the arena, use light play to hide the full capacity and etc. About the political part. I honestly don't understand my country's politics. Violence? hahhaa. The political in social media is a kind of entertainment because it makes money for influencers and independent journalists and serves as a way to gain political power. But it doesn't show the real reality. How politics is like entertainment. This somewhat affected the Challenger stages viewership. There are numerous problems in this major. But it is very difficult to make an event of almost 15 days uninterrupted without a big and good local team and a lot of preparation time. But that's my opinion
IMO if a TO is hosting a major, use the fucking booths! Sure, they might be a pain in the ass but these tournaments will be etched into players' legacies moreso than the Colognes or Katowices so maybe splash out the extra money in the interest of a level playing field ESPECIALLY when there is a "Home" team at the event
IEM Birmingham with Richard Lewis fan fest. Brilliant idea

2 weeks without a Richard Lewis episode. Drive to work entertainment is sorted!
It’s amazing they allowed any non Brazilian players to compete. Great show guys.

In terms of just actual counter strike, this major was ass. I think I can remember 3 or 4 good moments that had me thinking this is high level game play.
What I love is how all the orgs, casters, players kept on non stop pandering to Brazilian fans as fans at home were sick of Brazilian fans.
I watched maybe half of a semi and the finals. Had no hype for this major at all. Good video Richard keep it up and have a nice day!
Finally a RL video about the major

I'm actually curious now how the valorant event in brasil will be next year. They better not get Gaules lol.
Should do a time travel lan but instead do all the majors and see which one was best
