Willy Tea Taylor - Chickamauga

- Anytime Willy Tea comes around hollerin’ his old folk tales, we’re mighty quick to sit down and listen.
Willy’s been an inspiration for all of us at DIO for years, so the opportunity to host him on the mountain was a true honor. Whether leading a bourbon-fueled a capella jam at 4 am, leaving the amphitheater raw with his lyricism, or simply sharing a smile and a wink, Willy brings an unmatched earnestness everywhere he goes.
Fortunately, in between all the shenanigans, he was happy to take a stroll down by the creekside to record an intimate DIO Session. ‘Chickamauga’ may very well be Willy’s most iconic ode to his tone, strumming away on his weather-worn tenor guitar. This is one of those timeless tracks that defines the gentle genre of folk music. We’re humbled to have captured it, and now to share with you.
His performance left most of us in tears, Willy included.
Hope you enjoy.

This is a prime example of having the world of talent doesn't always generate to large viewership. Bc imo this song is just superb quality and should easily be sitting at like 1 million plays atleast
Holy crap. New to the game but my life is better now with Willie in it
On Sunday, instead of leaving alone, Willy gave a half a dozen of us exhausted DIO'ers a ride down to the parking lot on 9. A real gentleman.
He stayed at our house 2 weeks ago. Absolutely love this guy.
I just hung out with him at his show, and he is a mensch. Amazing man.
It's a shame this doesn't have more views. Absolutely beautiful
People don't get this stuff anymore it's almost lost to pimps and hoes autotune and snap and clap tracks 🤷♂️
Just discovered Willy Tea Taylor this weekend when Spotify (of all things) suggested him. I am blown away. It's a crime that he is not laden with awards.
Had ancestors fight at Chickamauga. Both sides. Thankfully they all made it back. This is a wonderful tribute to those that didn't.
My 4th great grandfather Jacob King Bussard fought under John T Wilder on horse back with the lightning brigade. Fought side by side with his brother-in-law Joel Rider at chickamauga. Joel was shot in they leg and grandfather true to his word to his wife Joel's sister,he tried to save Joel before he was captured. They both ended up captured and spend time in several pow camps before Joel escaped even after his leg amputated and woman who lived alone in the woods not sure exactly where took care of him and help him get back to union sides and he made it home and lived till 1907. My grandfather not so lucky. Ended up at Andersonville after 11 months of captivity he passed from disease and sickness. buried in a unmarked grave. I did a lot of research and found the only two unknowns buried on the day he died. Took my youngest daughter there this year to show our respects. Great song

One of my favorite songs. I included it in a presentation i did for one of my military leadership schools about the battle of Chicamaga. He is my favorite artist. His music is amazing and his voice transports you to the time and place in the song.
This is one of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard
Had the pleasure to see this beast live in Manchester, Michigan. I still dream about it.
Can't stop crying, listening to you. I'm an emotional wreck these days going through cancer shite/whole world chaos- your songs are extremely tangible. On a more pleasant note, my Grandpops' name was Willy (Bill) Taylor and mine is T (tiff) Taylor. Would love to see you perform in Canada one day! Thankyou 🇨🇦
