I find myself always coming back to this version of the song, year after year. It feels so right, that it's just Willy alone with his guitar for this. It feels so heartfelt, raw, and genuine. I wish it got more recognition for the absolute art that it is. Everything he produces is great, but this, this is absolute greatness.
This man & his tunes got me through a very tough 2016/17... Listened to this whilst riding route 66.. found myself again in a very dark place , Bless you Mr Taylor . Legend.
I'm sorry that I didn't tell Willie how much I love this song when I saw him. I lived in Coarsegold CA for one year, and a lot of old retired bullriders lived there, and drank at the local bar. One guy was Skeeter. He was my favorite person. I keep telling my husband, Art, that I need to write a song about his stories.
Everything this man creates is perfection and I would be lost without his amazing lyrics and sound. The last year of my life has taken so many loved one is such tragic ways and Willie's music helps me feel my pain and gratitude...all at once sometimes... and I am so very grateful. Can't wait to watch at Knights Ferry next month, you angel of a man
This song literally saved my life after a brutal year... rode 66 listening to this amazing man & his honest tunes .. brought me back from the brink. Love your own life & know your worth. Bless you willy T.... 1 day I may be lucky enough to buy you a beer & thank you in person.
Willie T if you’re ever in Ohio I’d gladly buy your drinks, your songs hit like nothing else, absolutely indescribable the power carried in these songs.. I’ve never met ya but I love ya man, this road lead me hear and it will take me away ✌🏻
Beautiful! This guy is the only dude I've ever seen that can make a tenor guitar sound like a full size 6 string! Lord knows tenor guitar either sounds like a toy in my hands or that it's being played by a child (the non-protege kind). If I ever run across a decent Tenor I can a afford, I'm inspired to buy it!
There’s a fire burning deep down in my dreams All I need is a pallet on your floor friend and enough gasoline and I’ll go give it another shot it might not turnout like I thought but I’ll give it all I got. Its been a while since I been out your way I’ll call you when I get to Celinas I got to take a little brake. Ah lord knows I’m a mess. I could use a little rest. And maybe get back to my best. I lost my best friend in San Anton and I had to call his momma, it was the hardest thing I done. And when I hung up that phone, I started missing home. Sat out alone. [Chorus] And this road let me to here and it will take me away. And all I can do is pray. All I can do is pray that I’ll make it back one day. Maybe one day I’ll just buy me a little farm And grow me lots of tobacco And I’ll just sit around in my yard. Think about all those nights, underneath all those lights and I’ll go hold my baby tight. I couldn’t tell you why I’m still on this road. Sure as hell ain’t been easy, I never found a pot of gold. Maybe It’s just what I do. Maybe I got something to prove. Maybe It’s friends like you. [Chorus] And this road let me to here and it will take me away. And all I can do is pray. All I can do is pray. that I’ll make it back here one day
I heard he has a “stage trick” where he gives a joint to someone and tells them :”You light up this stick when I give you the signal. You will figure out what the signal is and know what it’s designed to be.”
maxxiepad03 I've found that G, C, E minor and D work as I was strumming along with my six string. not exactly in that order all the time but if you try to play along you can figure it out as he goes
Cool close-ups of your face. Don't try to describe the song before you play it. I'll get flamed for this but some day maybe you'll realize that it was good advice and I was just trying to help.
I'm always finding myself back here.
Exactly. I remembered this song after like five years. Still feelin it :-)

It's a Tenor Guitar. They were popular in the early to mid 1900s, and are making a comeback in some Folk, Americana, and Roots music.
Nothing can bring tears to a grown man's eyes quite like Willy Tea Taylor! Good one ol' boy! That's some legend shit right there.
He just earned himself another life long fan!! Just perfect!

6 people as of 12/23/2018 have never made a good decision in their lives
