Melinda Gates and her husband almost singlehandedly ruined education under the Bush administration (No Child Left Behind). Their foundation threw money all over the place, got all of our schools to embrace high-stakes standardized testing rather than allowing teachers to address students' individual needs. Anyone who grew up in the 00's knows all teachers started "teaching to the test"... well that was thanks to the Gates' and them thinking they knew more about education than teachers. It was deemed an utter failure and was rolled back under Obama.
This is why billionaires are bad people. Their money gives them outsized power and allows them to fundamentally alter society to their own ends without any democratic input.

If she really wanted to help society she'd advocate for much higher taxes for herself and people like her. Philanthropy is a rich person's scam, "you don't need to tax me, I already spend millions on charity!" when if their taxes went up 5% they'd be taxed billions not millions, and it would be used on society at large instead of just their pet projects.

My thanks to you, "The Interview" and Lulu Garcia Navarro, for this interview with Melinda Gates. It was very informative and I also found that the advocacy by Melinda Gates of women and girls very encouraging. Her political savvy impressed me in respect of that boor, Elon Musk, and her refusal to speak in terms of truly nasty ad hominem attacks abot him ( which I realize, with an apology, I just did when I called Elon Musk a "boor.") But I found myself wondering: how much has she invested in New York Times stock and bonds? Nevertheless, this video has convinced me that her philanthropic efforts are selfless and sincere, especially in respect of her promotion of the urgent priority of better education for people around the globe. Keep up the good work, Lulu Garcia Navarro and "The Interview"!

Unless you live in a big city, most of the kids around, you are like you. Same culture same believes. It’s that way in most of the country.
In 1978 when Jimmy Carter created the department of education and nationalized, the teachers unions, America had one of if not the best education system in the world. 30 years later, the education system in America was in shambles and was terrible and we had some of the worst standardized testing in the world, especially for minorities. Because the federal government and the teacher unions took over. They wrecked it. They ruined it.
Government has never solved or fixed anything. Thomas Sowell is famous for proving how the Arnold solutions only trade-off. He’s famous for showing and proving and documenting that not only does the government not make things better they almost always make them worse
Search RUclips for Yuri Bezmenov. He explains Marxist psychological subversion. It used to be that indoctrination didn’t start until you went to college. The most educated people in America are also the most ideological and indoctrinated. But now the indoctrination starts in kindergarten.
You are so wrong about public schools being better than homeschooling. That’s not even remotely the case. And there’s no evidence or documentation that even remotely supports that. And you think homeschool kids are isolated. Again that’s not true. Homeschool kids are often with plenty of other kids. Nowadays, homeschool kids can participate in public school sports and activities.
Homeschooled kids are perfectly socialized. They’re actually better off because they’re not being a indoctrinated and not picking up bad habits from other kids. Almost no one did homeschools thinks it was a mistake. And more and more people are homeschooling. Even people that aren’t religious or homesteading that live in cities are now homeschooling.

No. It is not. I live in the south. I know a lot of people that homeschool. People are moving from out west and the north to the south because of the bat shit crazy in blue cities in blue states but also to be able to live on a homestead and to homeschool. And homeschool kids are actually more socialized and better than kids that go to most public schools. I taught school for two years. Public schools are shit shows unless they’re in really white neighborhoods. That’s why when people slam South education because they’re ignorant, and they don’t understand the context of the statistics. California is worth in Texas in education and poverty. But people say that stupid thing all the time. Because they assume blue states are better than red states and education. No, they are not. If you look at counties in California and New York, that have the same racial demographics as southern states you see that educationally they’re the same or worse. Predominantly white school districts in the south or everybody is good as any other school district and any other state.
But homeschooling is superior in many ways. A lot of homeschooling today is done in groups. They take trips they get to see things public school. Kids would never get to do and see. They still get to do events and play sports at public schools. And they get to advance much faster, rather than being held back by other kids.
So sorry. You’re wrong. The way they left is wrong on everything. Because you’re brainwashed.

Money is attracted to growth. Companies like NVIDIA grow fast and so founders end up making fortunes. Those companies are the 1:100000 companies that make it through all the hurdles. They break past old monopolies. Microsoft was almost crushed back in the day by IBM. Most chip makers didn't take NVIDIA seriously for many years. The car industry experts said Tesla would fail in 2018 and electric cars wouldn't go mainstream for decades. Musk was running Tesla from the mid 2000s and he was not a household name. Tesla has created a worldwide industry in electric cars that otherwise would not have happened. Electric cars will eventually clean up the air on our roads because gas powered cars will largely disappear because they will become uneconomical compared to electric cars. And you want to stop that innovation and set up a USSR style system that ensures that there is no silicon valley because there is no innovation as there is no capital for growth. A tax on unrealized capital gains will get you what you want: a future without new billionaires and a future without innovation... Be careful what you are seeking.

In my very small way, putting resources into educating girls, especially in 3rd world places, is the most effective (and cheapest) way of lifting these countries out of poverty.
Control over their own bodies crucial here; religions seldom get this right.
