Excellent interview! Thank you! Melinda French Gates will help women’s rights….needed so much not only around the world but critical in America today. Government must not take away women’s reproductive rights. Church and State must be kept separate.
Melinda Gates and her husband almost singlehandedly ruined education under the Bush administration (No Child Left Behind). Their foundation threw money all over the place, got all of our schools to embrace high-stakes standardized testing rather than allowing teachers to address students' individual needs. Anyone who grew up in the 00's knows all teachers started "teaching to the test"... well that was thanks to the Gates' and them thinking they knew more about education than teachers. It was deemed an utter failure and was rolled back under Obama. This is why billionaires are bad people. Their money gives them outsized power and allows them to fundamentally alter society to their own ends without any democratic input.

Always interesting to hear how rich people react to life. Melinda (and Bill and Warren) probably learned early, if you are interested in a fulfilled, and yes, happy life, helping others however you are able is most rewarding. In my very small way, putting resources into educating girls, especially in 3rd world places, is the most effective (and cheapest) way of lifting these countries out of poverty. Control over their own bodies crucial here; religions seldom get this right. Wishing all those mentioned the best of luck in their positive endeavours. Edit - it didn't take long for all those "know-nothing, do-nothings" to hate anyone trying to do something positive - unless they are in no position to do anything. Putin doesn't need to destroy our liberal democracy - there are enough of us only too happy to help him here. No compromise, no working together, just complain it's not MY ideal.
problem is she's woke so she knows she right. quota makes sense to her, despite making the most privileged in the group best off. like claudine gay, someone more privileged than most americans throughout her entire life - especially with her $900k salary, even after serial cheating. how about listen to roland fryer? help those who despite not having hope achieved. and stop wasting money on naacp which mostly enrich the administration with token benefit to those most deserving.

And you want to stop that innovation and set up a USSR style system that ensures that there is no silicon valley because there is no innovation as there is no capital for growth. A tax on unrealized capital gains will get you what you want: a future without new billionaires and a future without innovation... Be careful what you are seeking.
@@joythought and how many millions of possible inventors and innovators never get the opportunity, doomed to life with no socioeconomic mobility because they are born in poverty? All of that wealth comes from somewhere, and it is extracted from the labor of working people who have no power against multi-billion dollar corporations. Currently it's just kids of emerald mine operators that get multiple chances at success, rather than something we all have a shot at.
And I find it interesting that there seems to have developed a shift in how the 1% represents itself to the public. It used to be that they were quiet about their politics and loud about their "philanthropic" activities, keeping the rest of us convinced that they could be trusted with all the resources they're hoarding. Now more ultra rich libertarians are speaking their misanthropy loud and proud. I guess Melinda is old school, but the wealth is not distributed either way.

Putin doesn't need to destroy our liberal democracy - there are enough of us only too happy to help him here. No compromise, no working together, just complain it's not MY ideal.

I find it useful to keep in mind the effects of the NYT's shareholders.
problem is she's woke so she knows she right. quota makes sense to her, despite making the most privileged in the group best off. like claudine gay, someone more privileged than most americans throughout her entire life - especially with her $900k salary, even after serial cheating. how about listen to roland fryer? help those who despite not having hope achieved. and stop wasting money on naacp which mostly enrich the administration with token benefit to those most deserving.
Why does the NYTimes still give a platform to these oligarchs? I mean, I support Kamala too, but Gates ought to be paying all of US if she expects us to listen to anything she says.
I mean, are you following the news at all? NYT still hasn't fully admitted to being a mouthpiece for the IDF..
Because the motive is entirely different. She isn’t snorting coke with teenage hookers in St. Tropez like the rest of them, and you know it.
You really shouldn’t sit so long on these interviews when the scene is shifting so quickly.

Any society will have some degree of inequality where some people's voices outweigh others, but a billionaire is such a magnitude more powerful than even a millionaire, let alone an average person.
Melinda Gates is actually a perfect example because of how her foundation helped change our entire education system for the worse with "No Child Left Behind".
