I don’t think Imogen erases her memory because Brennan welcomes her to the revolution at the end of the first book. Why welcome her, or worry about her joining, if they’re just going to erase it?
True! I wonder if her signet is used super strategically, with what exactly is erased and if Violet has any idea. Or they rely on shielding! We talk a lot more about this in later episodes!

So, I’m listening to this podcast after having just finished iron flame 😂 hearing all of the theories from fourth wing and from this excerpt is awesome after knowing a bunch of answers!
My Sloane head cannon is that she’s deaf and the first time she hears anyone speak will be hear dragon into her mind and it brings tears to my eyes
I think the return to the school will be based on a giant lie. Violet needs more training so I think they are going to pretend it was just a normal gryphon attack they won. They will train violet to sheild against dane
I think this is the most likely answer!
I think it’s way simpler for the whole solis killing all those people, I think he just can’t see very well because of his eye. Tairn says when violet looks back to keep her eyes on Solis as if to say pay attention to him because he might miss a little bit. I don’t think he meant to shoot so close to the squad
I think he also can't stand cowards and is making a big example/doesn't care who's in the way. Like if you can't move/pay attention then you don't deserve a dragon bc you could get them killed in battle.
I’m here too after reading Iron Flame and I am looking forward to their thoughts on Sloan - not being deaf but hating Violet her what happened to her brother
Tooth infection is very serious and one of the things that can kill dragons is infections. I think this "observation" is important to show a future problem with Cath that has the potential to kill him.
I'm not sure if I'm 100% on Imogen wiping her memories because in the last chapter of Fourth Wing when xaden was talking to bhodi and garrick they were talking about if she joined them she'd have to learn how to shield from Dain. Also I personally believe violet was literally just waiting at the end of the parapet waiting for Sloane to tell the scroll person her name once she was across so she could know who she was, I saw a tiktok saying that she introduced herself starting like I know you don't know me but I was friends with your brother kind of thing. And totally in camp opening book on conscription day and we'll only get tidbits of memories of her seeing Brennan again. Also super sorry I'm pretty sure I already commented some of this on tiktok but I can comment more on here 😅
Imogen not wiping her memories - Thats exactly what Nicole thinks! That line from Xaden gives a lot of hope especially with how quick she was to pick up mental shields!
Sloan - that sounds super possible and oh my goodness it will make us cry!!!
And you and lexi are in total agreement on beginning on Conscription day! It would totally be like Rebecca to start the book there! Queen of curveballs!!
I agree with this BUT I saw a theory that everyone with a rebellion mark has two signets! what if his is mind reading and he has to teach Violet how to block him out or something.

My son is Deaf and would absolutely LOVE having a Deaf character!
If I miss out on her and Bren. first meet/convo I'm going to be so upset. I don't want it to start on conscription day. I want to see how she's welcomed back to the college after being away from the war games for so long. I just can't stand to think her memory gets wiped. She needs to know what she knows now to help drive her forward.
You and Nicole agree!!! She wants every second of that scene with Brennan!

I totally get your point with the dragons being pissed off with the humans, but if you eliminate halft of third squad, aren't there even less riders that can help building the ward? like wouldn't killing them just out of spite be contra-productive?

Since its 5 books planned and told by Jesinia in a way, what if violet isnt our main character for all the books? What if violet dies and it switches main characters to sloane?

I think violet may be overpowered by Tairn’s and Andarna power. Having 2 dragons channelling might be overwhelming but maybe not for Violet due to her ‘part venin’??
There's definitely something extra special about her! But yes, that could be another plot point in IF - how she manages/doesn't manage all that power
I really want to know what "recent memory" entails. Is it one hour, day week month? For me, this info may be the crux of the events between the end of the last book and the opening to the next. How much yime has to pass for Violet's memory to be considered safe.
This is one of our biggest questions too!!
Wouldn’t third squad be lined up right next to Violets? Like these guys were literally an arm distance away from her and she could not save them. That would do some major damage to her mind all right. As for Solis I think this dragon just has beef with humans in general. Maybe it was a human who cost him his eye? But I can’t help but also think maybe Solis has some like dragon-ego issue with Tairn. Remember Tairn is admired and feared both by humans and dragons; all but Andarna, Violet and Sgaeyl are afraid of him. Even Xaden is weary of him. Presuming Solis is male that’s gonna piss him right off if his ego is big enough. Not to mention if Tairn got Sgaeyl and Solis wanted her (kinda like the triangle between Violet, Xaden and Dain) that could reflect too. I think something is definitely up with Solis and it’s not whether his the Vice Commanders dragon or not. Remember Dragons tolerate the humans. A dragon can easily say to their rider ‘fuck off I’m not doing that’ Maybe Solis is curious with Violet? And trying to sus her out and ‘play’ with her. I don’t know. Maybe I’m just reading too much into it. I don’t think third squad would have a large amount of rebels children in it either. If they’re not allowed to be anymore than three at one time why would more than three be put in a squad? A wing yes. A squad? I don’t think that would happen. And aren’t cadets suppose to stand at the back after lining up? That would mean all the kids burnt would of majority been cadets
Great question! We're not sure cause we havent had a lot of descriptions of how formation stands - hopefully we'll get more of an idea in Iron Flame during this section! But YES, we think this would do some survivor guilt for Violet which is so sad - although she did go through the quadrant last year, so she might be getting more hardened when it comes to seeing death. and YES - we totally agree that theres going to be some "who's the strongest dragon" energy between Solas and Tairn.
Just a heads up on how the squads line up the go from front to back. The front squad would be first, 2nd is 2nd so on and so forth. The sections and wings can go a few different ways so I can't say since she hasn't enough information for how they do their formations.
