I am in awe of how perfect this is!
In your opinion, does it help to use paints that can be lifted or does that even matter?
I've found the best results when trying to get this look if the paints can be lifted because they'll blend with nearby strokes and create the illusion of more individual strands of hair/fur. Obviously, this amount of detail requires painting in each stand, but the ability to lift the pigment allows me to paint two or three strands of hair/fur with every stroke instead of just one lol.

When you work in layers you will very rarely have to lift. If you do then there's ays of doing this. more often it's about sorting the mess out. Have a look at these tips, tricks and blogs

Yor paintings got better. Not so much hard edges as used to. Still needs to let the paint do its thing and stop putting hard edges everywhere. What's up with the portions? All off, toes are huge. Beautiful colors.
