The artwork was created by John Blanche and were then given to Martin Mckenna as guidance. Oldhammer at its finest! These are the very first art sketches of Oldhammer Orks, Space marines, and imperial guard.

The Games Workshop of today would never, ever do anything like this! GW was a very different beast back in 1986, that's for sure!
Interesting point! At the time GW had just bought by Ansell, lots of the older gamers reflected the change as a negative. The whole creative process was completely different and before the advent of desktop publishing. I like the more Rock n roll of the older stuff :)

I own Ratspike John Blanche&Ian millers artwork of warhammer and 40k.Very good.
I don’t own a a copy of Ratspike unfortunately. I keep looking out for it on eBay but not been lucky enough to win yet 😭. I’ve seen some of the artwork and it looks fantastic. Really good. I'm glad those pieces of artwork are still around and in such good condition and well done for taking the time to make the video and upload it. Like a number of other people, I always wondered who some of the faces were. Who, by the way was 'H' - he was one of the artists, yes? What was his real name and what became of him?
